ਸਾਝ ਕਰੀਜੈ ਗੁਣਹ ਕੇਰੀ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਵਗਣ ਚਲੀਐ ॥ saajh kareejai gunah kayree chhod avgan chalee-ai. We should share the virtues with others, and shedding our vices, we should conduct our lives righteously. (ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਔਗੁਣ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਹਿਰੇ ਪਟੰਬਰ ਕਰਿ ਅਡੰਬਰ
ਸਗਲੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਤੂ ਸੋਈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਭਾਇ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥ saglee jot jaataa too so-ee mili-aa bhaa-ay subhaa-ay. That soul-bride recognized your light pervading in all: O’ God! she realized You because of her love for You. ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ (ਦੀ ਖਿੱਚ) ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ
ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਤੇ ॥ aavahi jaahi anayk mar mar janmatay. (Without meditating on God’s Name), innumerable people keep coming and going from this world, and are born to die again. (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ (ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ) ਜੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਸਹੇੜ ਕੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ
ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣਾ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥ aavan jaanaa reh ga-ay man vuthaa nirankaar jee-o. O’ my friends, a personin whose mind the formless God comes to abide, that person’s cycle of birth and death ceases forever. ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ
ਕੋਟਿ ਮਧੇ ਕਿਨੈ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਈ ॥ kot maDhay kinai pachhaani-aa har naamaa sach so-ee. Among millions, only a rare one has realized that only God’s Name is eternal. ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸਮਝੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ
ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਜੀ ਖੋਈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗਾ ॥ andrahu durmat doojee kho-ee so jan har liv laagaa. One who eliminates evil-mindedness and the love for worldly wealth and power from within, focuses his mind on God. ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿਅਤੇ ਦ੍ਵੈਤ ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ
ਆਪਿ ਸਾਜੇ ਥਾਪਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ aap saajay thaap vaykhai tisai bhaanaa bhaa-i-aa. To them, God’s will seems sweet, and they realize that He Himself creates, establishes and takes care of His creation. ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪ (ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ
