ਇਆਹੂ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਬਿਹਾਨੇ ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ॥ i-aahoo jugat bihaanay ka-ee janam. So many lifetimes are wasted in these ways. ਇਸੇ ਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਦੇ) ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਆਪਨ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਮ ॥੭॥ naanak raakh layho aapan kar karam. ||7|| O’ God, please, show mercy and protect him from these vices,
ਮੁਖਿ ਅਪਿਆਉ ਬੈਠ ਕਉ ਦੈਨ ॥ mukh api-aa-o baith ka-o dain. to feed you as you rest, ਜੋ ਬੈਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੂੰ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਗੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ)। ਇਹੁ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੁ ਗੁਨੁ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ॥ ih nirgun gun kachhoo na boojhai. O’ God, this virtueless person does not appreciate the value
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ pa-orhee. Pauree: ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਕਰਣਾ ਕੀਓ ਕਲ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਤੈ ਧਾਰੀਐ ॥ aapay hee karnaa kee-o kal aapay hee tai Dhaaree-ai. O’ God, You Yourself have created the creation, and You Yourself have infused Your power into it. (ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਰਚੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ pa-orhee. Pauree: ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਵਡਾ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਡੀਆ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ॥ satgur vadaa kar salaahee-ai jis vich vadee-aa vadi-aa-ee-aa. We should praise the True Guru considering him as the greatest; within whom are the greatest virtues. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਨ। ਸਹਿ
ਨੀਲ ਵਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਹਿਰਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ neel vastar pahir hoveh parvaan. Wearing blue robes, they seek the approval of their Muslim rulers. ਨੀਲੇ ਰੰਗ ਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਤੁਰਕ ਹਾਕਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ। ਮਲੇਛ ਧਾਨੁ ਲੇ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਪੁਰਾਣੁ ॥ malaychh Dhaan lay poojeh puraan. They accept money from the Muslim rulers,
ਨੰਗਾ ਦੋਜਕਿ ਚਾਲਿਆ ਤਾ ਦਿਸੈ ਖਰਾ ਡਰਾਵਣਾ ॥ nangaa dojak chaali-aa taa disai kharaa daraavanaa. When his sinful deeds are exposed, he looks very hideous while suffering. ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਕਸ਼ਾ ਉਸਦੇ ਸਾਮ੍ਹਣੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਦੋਜ਼ਕ ਵਿਚ ਧਕਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਬੜਾ
ਅੰਧੀ ਰਯਤਿ ਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਹੂਣੀ ਭਾਹਿ ਭਰੇ ਮੁਰਦਾਰੁ ॥ anDhee rayat gi-aan vihoonee bhaahi bharay murdaar. Their subjects are ignorant due to lack of knowledge, they are filled with the fire of worldly desires, and they are spiritually dead. ਪਰਜਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੀ (ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ), ਮਾਨੋ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ (ਅੱਗ) ਦੀ ਚੱਟੀ

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ satgur bhaytay so sukh paa-ay. Only he, who meets the True Guru, enjoys peace. ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ (ਅਸਲੀ) ਸੁਖ ਉਹੀ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ har kaa naam man vasaa-ay. Because he enshrines God’s Name in his mind. ਉਹ ਰੱਬ
ਓਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਮੰਦੈ ਪੈਰੁ ਨ ਰਖਿਓ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥ onHee mandai pair na rakhi-o kar sukarit Dharam kamaa-i-aa. They do not go near the evils, but do good deeds and live righteously. ਉਹ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ, ਭਲਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ-ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਿਬਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਓਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤੋੜੇ ਬੰਧਨਾ
