ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ salok mehlaa 3. Shalok, by the Third Guru: ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਲੇਖੈ ਲਾਇ ॥ satgur sayvay aapnaa so sir laykhai laa-ay. They who follow the true Guru’s teachings accomplish the goal of human life. ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਨੁੱਖਾ
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਜਮੁ ਜੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥ gurmatee jam johi na saakai saachai naam samaa-i-aa. Even the demon (fear) of death cannot touch them because they are absorbed in God’s Name through the Guru’s teachings. ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਜਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਿਲੁ ਰਾਮਾ ॥੧॥ vadbhaagee mil raamaa. ||1|| (In this way), O’ fortunate one, you will unite with God. ਓ ਭਾਰੇ ਨਸੀਬਾਂ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ, ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸਾਈਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ। ਗੁਰੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੀ ਜੀਉ ॥ gur jogee purakh mili-aa rang maanee jee-o. I have met the Guru, who himself is united with God, and by
ਮਃ ੩ ॥ mehlaa 3. By the Third Guru: ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥ satgur sayv sukh paa-i-aa sach naam guntaas. One who has followed the teachings of the true Guru, has obtained peace and realized God, the Treasure of virtues. (ਜਿਸ ਨੇ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਣਾਂ
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ga-orhee mehlaa 5. Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru: ਰੰਗ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੇ ਭੋਗਾ ਇਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਅੰਧ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ rang sang bikhi-aa kay bhogaa in sang anDh na jaanee. ||1|| A person keeps indulging in false worldly pleasures; in the midst of these pleasures, the blind fool doesn’t understand, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੌਜਾਂ ਨਾਲ
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ naanak gurmukh ubray saachaa naam samaal. ||1|| O’ Nanak, the Guru’s followers are saved from the spiritual death, by meditating on God’s Name with loving devotion. ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦੀਆ ਮਨੁ ਠਾਢੇ ॥੧॥ gur pooraa paa-i-aa vadbhaagee har mantar dee-aa man thaadhay. ||1|| By good fortune I have met the Perfect Guru. He has given me the Mantra of meditation on God’s Name, by which my mind has become tranquil. ਵੱਡੇਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੀਠ ਰਸ ਗਾਨੇ ॥੨॥ har kaa naam amrit ras chaakhi-aa mil satgur meeth ras gaanay. ||2|| Meeting the True Guru I have tasted the Ambrosial Nectar of God’s Name. It is sweet, like the juice of the sugarcane. ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ
