ਨਾਮੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ naamay tarisnaa agan bujhai naam milai tisai rajaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o. The fire of worldly desires is extinguished only through Naam; but Naam is obtained by God’s Will. ||1||Pause|| ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਬੁੱਝਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ
ਜੇਹੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਾਈਐ ਕਰਣੀ ਭੀ ਸਾਈ ॥ jayhee sayv karaa-ee-ai karnee bhee saa-ee. Whatever service God causes a person to do, that is just what he does. ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਕਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵ ਨੇ ਉਸੇ ਕਾਰੇ ਲੱਗਣਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੭॥ aap karay kis aakhee-ai vaykhai vadi-aa-ee.
ਹੁਕਮੀ ਪੈਧਾ ਜਾਇ ਦਰਗਹ ਭਾਣੀਐ ॥ hukmee paiDhaa jaa-ay dargeh bhaanee-ai. According to God’s will, one goes to His presence and receives honor. ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਇਥੋਂ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਖੱਟ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਆਦਰ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਕਮੇ ਹੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਮਾਰ ਬੰਦਿ ਰਬਾਣੀਐ ॥੫॥ hukmay hee sir maar
ਜੋਗੀ ਭੋਗੀ ਕਾਪੜੀ ਕਿਆ ਭਵਹਿ ਦਿਸੰਤਰ ॥ jogee bhogee kaaprhee ki-aa bhaveh disantar. Why do the Yogis, the revellers and the beggars wander in foreign lands? ਜੋਗੀ ਤੇ ਲੀਰਾਂ ਪਹਿਨਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੀ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਦਾ ਰਟਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਹੀ ਤਤੁ ਸਾਰੁ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ॥੩॥ gur kaa sabad na cheenhee tat
ਥਾਨ ਮੁਕਾਮ ਜਲੇ ਬਿਜ ਮੰਦਰ ਮੁਛਿ ਮੁਛਿ ਕੁਇਰ ਰੁਲਾਇਆ ॥ thaan mukaam jalay bij mandar muchh muchh ku-ir rulaa-i-aa.
