ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਏਕੈ ॥ karan karaavan sabh kichh aykai. Only God is the creator and cause of causes. ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪੇ ਬੁਧਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ਬਿਬੇਕੈ ॥ aapay buDh beechaar bibaykai. He Himself bestows upon us the wisdom, contemplation and divine knowledge. ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸੋਚ ਸਮਝ
ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ sireeraag mehlaa 3. Siree Raag, by the Third Guru: ਪੰਖੀ ਬਿਰਖਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੜਾ ਸਚੁ ਚੁਗੈ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥ pankhee birakh suhaavrhaa sach chugai gur bhaa-ay. The soul-bird in the beautiful tree of the body pecks at Truth with love for the Guru. ਜੀਵ-ਪੰਛੀ ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ-ਰੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ
ਆਪਿ ਛਡਾਏ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੪॥ aap chhadaa-ay chhutee-ai satgur charan samaal. ||4|| It is only when God Himself saves us by making us remember Guru’s word that we are liberated from worldly bonds. ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਕਰਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ
ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਵਿਧਉਸਿਆ ॥ sachaa sabad beechaar kaal viDh-usi-aa. Reflecting on the True Word, he overcomes the fear of death ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚਾ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ l ਢਾਢੀ ਕਥੇ ਅਕਥੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥ dhaadhee kathay akath sabad savaari-aa. ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੇ ਚਲਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥੭॥ sabad ratay say nirmalay chaleh satgur bhaa-ay. ||7|| Those who are attuned to the Shabad-Guru are immaculate and pure. They live according to the Will of the True Guru. ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਦੇ ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਕਾਜਲ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਹ ਸੁਆਹਿ ॥ sabh jag kaajal koth-rhee tan man dayh su-aahi. This entire world is like a storehouse of black soot (full of vices). Because of worldly attachments, the body, mind and the conscience, all get polluted and become impure like the black soot. ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗ ਕੱਜਲ ਦੀ ਕੋਠੜੀ
