ਰਾਗੁ ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੧੨ raag aasaa mehlaa 5 ghar 12 Raag Aasaa, Twelfth beat, Fifth Guru: ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad. One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru: ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤਿਆਗਿ ਸਗਲ ਸਿਆਨਪਾ ਭਜੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥ ti-aag
ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਮੀਤਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਨੀਤਾ ਰੇ ॥ saajan sant hamaaray meetaa bin har har aaneetaa ray. O’ my dear saintly friends, except for God, everything else is perishable. ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣੋ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿਤਰੋ! ( ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਇਹੁ ਜਨਮੁ
ਜੈਸੇ ਮੀਠੈ ਸਾਦਿ ਲੋਭਾਏ ਝੂਠ ਧੰਧਿ ਦੁਰਗਾਧੇ ॥੨॥ jaisay meethai saad lobhaa-ay jhooth DhanDh durgaaDhay. ||2|| Just as the sweet flavors tempt people, similarly you are lured by the odor of the false business of Maya. ||2|| ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਸੁਆਦਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੁਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਏਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੂੜੇ ਤੇ ਗੰਦੇ
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਸਗਲ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਸਭ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਅਸਨਾਹਾ ॥੧॥ putar kaltar garih sagal samagree sabh mithi-aa asnaahaa. ||1|| The love of son, wife and worldly possessions is false and short lived.||1|| ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ, ਘਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਾਮਾਨ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਝੂਠਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਹੈ ਹਾ ਹਾ ॥ ray man ki-aa karahi
ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਹਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ guroo vitahu ha-o vaari-aa jis mil sach su-aa-o. ||1|| rahaa-o. I am dedicated to my Guru, meeting whom I have obtained the true purpose of my life, the meditation on God’s Name. ||1||Pause|| ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਗੁ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਰੀਐ ॥੨॥ gur sayvaa mahal paa-ee-ai jag dutar taree-ai. ||2|| By following the Guru’s teachings, God’s presence in our heart is realized and we swim across the impassable world-ocean of vices. ||2|| ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ -ਸਮੁੰਦਰ
ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਤਪਤਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥ seetal har har naam simrat tapat jaa-ay. ||3|| That God’s Name is very soothing; the fire of worldly desires is quenched by meditating on Him. ||3|| ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਠੰਢ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ) ਤਪਸ਼ ਬੁੱਝ ਜਾਂਦੀ
