ਏਹਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਨੁ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ॥ ayhaa bhagat jan jeevat marai. The true devotional worship is that by which one remains detached from the love for Maya while engaged in worldly chores, ਅਸਲ ਭਗਤੀ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਤ-ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ ਅਛੋਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਭਵਜਲੁ
ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥ so boojhai jis aap bujhaa-ay. He alone understands this secret, whom God Himself inspires to understand. (ਇਸ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ) ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਆਪ ਸਮਝਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਾਏ ॥੧॥ gur parsaadee sayv karaa-ay. ||1|| Then by the Guru’s grace, God makes him perform
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਣੁ ਬੁਝਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਦਾ ॥ sabh kichh jaanai jaan bujh veechaardaa. The Knower knows everything; He understands and contemplates. ਉਹ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ) ਹਰੇਕ ਗੱਲ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਤੇ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਨਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਧਾਰਦਾ ॥ anik roop khin maahi kudrat Dhaardaa.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਨਿ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ naanak bin satgur sayvay jam pur baDhay maaree-an muhi kaalai uth jaahi. ||1|| O’ Nanak, without following the teachings of the True Guru, human beings depart from this world in great shame and are bound and beaten by demons in the world
ਦੁਖਿ ਲਗੈ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਅਗੈ ਦੂਣੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥ dukh lagai ghar ghar firai agai doonee milai sajaa-ay. A person who acts like a Yogi simply by wearing holy garbs, gets afflicted with pain; goes from door to door and receives double punishment in the world hereafter. (ਭੇਖੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੇ) ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਕਲਪਦਾ
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੈਰੀ ਆਣਿ ਸਭਿ ਘਤੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥ gur pooraa naanak sayvi-aa mayree jindurhee-ay jin pairee aan sabh ghatay raam. ||3|| Therefore, Nanak has sought the shelter of that perfect Guru, O’ my soul, who has made all his enemies to surrender and bow to his feet.”ll3ll ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ
