ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ sant parsaad param pad paa-i-aa. ||2|| The supreme spiritual status is attained by the grace of the Guru. ||2|| ਗੁਰੂ-ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਆਪਿ ਸਹਾਇ ॥ jan kee keenee aap sahaa-ay. One whom God Himself helped, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ
ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਮਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਥਿਧਾਈ ॥ ahaN-buDh man poor thiDhaa-ee. The human mind is smeared with the ‘greasy dirt’ of egotistical pride. ਹਉਮੈ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ) ਥਿੰਧਾਈ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ l ਸਾਧ ਧੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਧ ਮੰਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ saaDh Dhoor kar suDh manjaa-ee. ||1|| With the teachings of the saints,
ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਇ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥ har sukh-daata man vasai ha-umai jaa-ay gumaan. God, the Giver of peace, shall dwell in your mind, and your egotism and pride shall depart. ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸੇਗਾ, ਹਉਮੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ। ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਤਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥੨॥ naanak nadree
ਕਾਇਆ ਮਿਟੀ ਅੰਧੁ ਹੈ ਪਉਣੈ ਪੁਛਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ kaa-i-aa mitee anDh hai pa-unai puchhahu jaa-ay. The body is merely dirt, it is blind (ignorant). At the end, the soul is held responsible for it’s deeds. ਸਰੀਰ ਤਾਂ ਗ੍ਯਾਨਹੀਣ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਹੈ, ਆਖ਼ਰ ਲੇਖਾ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹਉ ਤਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਾ
ਉਕਤਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸਗਲੀ ਤਿਆਗੁ ॥ ukat si-aanap saglee ti-aag. Give up all your arguments and cleverness, ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਦਲੀਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਿਆਣਪਾਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੨॥ sant janaa kee charnee laag. ||2|| and humbly follow the teachings of the saintly persons. ||2|| ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਉ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਅ ਹਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ
ਜੈਤਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੩ jaitsaree mehlaa 5 ghar 3 Raag Jaitsri, Fifth Guru, Third Beat: ਰਾਗ ਜੈਤਸਰੀ, ਘਰ ੩ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ। ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad. One eternal God. Realized by the grace of the true Guru: ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਸਤੀ ਘੋੜੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਾਸਾ ॥ hastee ghorhay daykh vigaasaa. He feels delighted at the sight of his elephants and horses ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਾਥੀ ਘੋੜੇ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ (ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ), ਲਸਕਰ ਜੋੜੇ ਨੇਬ ਖਵਾਸਾ ॥ laskar jorhay nayb khavaasaa. He assembles a vast army, and keeps advisers and royal servants. ਫ਼ੌਜਾਂ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੰਤਰੀ ਤੇ
ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਬਿਭੂਤ ਲਾਇ ਦੇਹ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥ sani-aasee bibhoot laa-ay dayh savaaree. The Sannyasi (hermit) decks his body by smearing it with ashes. ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਨੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਮਲ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਅ ਤਿਆਗੁ ਕਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ ॥ par tari-a ti-aag karee barahamchaaree. He practices celibacy, by abstaining from contact with all women. ਉਸ
ਲਾਭੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤੋਟਾ ਹਿਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਤਿਵੰਤ ॥ laabh milai totaa hirai har dargeh pativant. In this way the spiritual life becomes profitable and all the loss from past evils is recovered and honor is obtained in God’s court. ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੀ ਵਾਧਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਰਹੀ
