ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਵਾਕਿ ॥ har jee-o sabad pachhaanee-ai saach ratay gur vaak. It’s by following the Guru’s word, and by being imbued with truth, that God is realized. ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਵਾਕ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਪੈ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। ਤਿਤੁ ਤਨਿ
ਕਾਮਿ ਕਰੋਧਿ ਨ ਮੋਹੀਐ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਲੋਭੁ ਸੁਆਨੁ ॥ kaam karoDh na mohee-ai binsai lobh su-aan. Lust and anger shall not seduce you, and the dog like greed shall depart. ਕਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਮਰਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਲਾਲਚ ਦਾ ਕੁੱਤਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਗਾ। ਸਚੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਜਹਾਨੁ ॥ sachai maarag chaldi-aa ustat karay
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ naanak kee parabh bayntee parabh milhu paraapat ho-ay. O’ God, this is Nanak’s prayer: please meet me, so that I may obtain Your union. ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ-ਰੱਜਵਾਂ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨ ਵੈਸਾਖੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਤਾਂ ਲਗੈ ਜਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਹਰਿ
ਚਰਨ ਸੇਵ ਸੰਤ ਸਾਧ ਕੇ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੩॥ charan sayv sant saaDh kay sagal manorath pooray. ||3|| Following Guru’s teachings with humility, one’s all desires are fulfilled. ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਮੰਨਿਆਂ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਏਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ
ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਕੰਢੈ ਚਾੜੇ ॥ anDh koop tay kandhai chaarhay. You pull Your devotees out of the blind deep well of worldly entanglements. ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੰਢੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦਾਸ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ ॥ kar kirpaa daas nadar nihaalay. Showering Your Mercy, You
ਤਿਸੁ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ tis roop na raykh-i-aa ghat ghat daykhi-aa gurmukh alakh lakhaavani-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o. That God has no form or shape, yet He is seen pervading all hearts. But it is only by following the Guru’s teachings that incomprehensible One can be realized. ਉਸ
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ ahinis pareet sabad saachai har sar vaasaa paavni-aa. ||5|| Day and night, through the Guru’s word, he develops love for God and keep dwelling in the divine pool of Naam. ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਸ
