ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਅਚੁਤ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰ ਤਾਰਣਹ ॥੧੪॥ pareetam bhagvaan achut. naanak sansaar saagar taarnah. ||14|| O’ Nanak, (the remembrance of) the beloved eternal God, ferries one across the worldly ocean of vices. ||14|| ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਿਆਰੇ ਅਵਿਨਾਸ਼ੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਤਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥ ਮਰਣੰ ਬਿਸਰਣੰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹ ॥ marnaN bisranaN gobindah.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਣਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਰਣੰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਰਮ ਜਿ ਪੂਰਣਹ ॥ barahmaneh sang uDharnaN barahm karam je poornah. A person can be emancipated in the company of a true Brahmin who is perfect in doing spiritual deeds i.e. remembering Naam with passion and love. ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ, ਉਸ ਦੀ
ਜੇਨ ਕਲਾ ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੰ ਨਹ ਛੇਦੰਤ ਜਠਰ ਰੋਗਣਹ ॥ jayn kalaa maat garabh paritpaalaN nah chhaydant jathar rognah. that God who by His power sustains a creature in the womb of its mother, and does not let the fire-like conditions of the mother’s womb destroy it. ਜਿਸ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਂ
ਭੈ ਅਟਵੀਅੰ ਮਹਾ ਨਗਰ ਬਾਸੰ ਧਰਮ ਲਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਣ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਇਆ ॥ bhai atvee-aN mahaa nagar baasaN Dharam lakh-yan parabh ma-i-aa. even the dreadful forest appears as a well-populated city; such are the attributes of faith in God, which are attained by God’s grace. ਡਰਾਉਣਾ ਜੰਗਲ ਤਕੜਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਜਾਪਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ-ਇਹ ਹਨ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਲੱਛਣ
ਕੀਰਤਨੰ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੇਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੰਤਿ ਜਮਦੂਤਨਹ ॥੩੪॥ keeratanaN saaDhsangayn naanak nah darisat-aNt jamdootneh. ||34|| and sings praises of God in the company of saints, O’ Nanak! even the demon of death cannot look upon such a person with an evil eye. ||34|| ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬਸੰਤ ਬਾਸੁਦੇਵਹ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਹ ॥ ghat ghat basant baasudayveh paarbarahm parmaysureh. The supreme God dwells in each and every heart. ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਾਚੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੰ ਨਹ ਬਿਸਰੰਤਿ ਨਹ ਬਿਸਰੰਤਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣਹ ॥੨੧॥ jaachant naanak kirpaal parsaadaN nah bisrant nah bisrant naaraa-ineh. ||21|| Nanak begs this gift
ਰਾਜੰ ਤ ਮਾਨੰ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੰ ਤ ਹੀਨੰ ॥ raajaN ta maanaN abhimaanaN ta heenaN. Where there is power, there is arrogance, where there is egotistical pride, there is humiliation. ਜਿਥੇ ਰਾਜ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਭੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਭੀ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਵਿਰਤਿ ਮਾਰਗੰ ਵਰਤੰਤਿ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੰ ॥ parvirat maargaN vartant binaasanaN. ਧ੍ਰਿਗੰਤ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਨੇਹੰ ਧ੍ਰਿਗ ਸਨੇਹੰ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਬਾਂਧਵਹ ॥ Dharigant maat pitaa sanayhaN Dharig sanayhaN bharaat baaNDhvah. Accursed is too much loving attachment for one’s mother and father, also accursed is too much affection and attachment for one’s siblings and relatives. ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਧ੍ਰਿਕਾਰ ਯੋਗ ਹੈ, ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਸਨਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਭੀ ਮਾੜਾ ਹੈ।
