ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥sireeraag mehlaa 3.Siree Raag, by the Third Guru: ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਲੋਭਾਣੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ॥amrit chhod bikhi-aa lobhaanay sayvaa karahi vidaanee.Forsaking the spiritual life giving nectar of Naam, conceited people cling to the poison of worldly riches and power and serve others instead of God.ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਤਰਸਦੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਇ ॥ lakh cha-oraaseeh tarasday jis maylay so milai har aa-ay. Millions of species of lives, long to meet the Almighty. Only those get to meet Him whom He unites Himsel. fਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ) ਤਰਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਲਦੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਬਹੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥ an-din jaldee firai din raatee bin pir baho dukh paavni-aa. ||2|| Day and night the soul continues wandering, burning in the fire of worldly desires. Without the Husband-God, the soul suffers in great sorrows. (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਜਿੰਦ) ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ
ਸਭ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੀਆ ॥੩॥ sabh dunee-aa aavan jaanee-aa. ||3|| (Then one realizes that) The entire world is subject to coming and going. ਜਗਤ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਈਐ ॥ vich dunee-aa sayv kamaa-ee-ai. Therefore, (instead of worrying about the transitory nature of the world) we should serve God by reciting
ਜੇਹੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਤੇਹਾ ਤਿਨ ਰਾਹੁ ॥ jayhee surat tayhaa tin raahu. As is their level of consciousness, so is their way of life. ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਸੂਝ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸਤਾ ਉਹ ਫੜ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਲੇਖਾ ਇਕੋ ਆਵਹੁ ਜਾਹੁ ॥੧॥ laykhaa iko aavhu jaahu. ||1|| According to our deeds, we come and
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੀਅ ਉਪਾਏ ॥ lakh cha-oraaseeh jee-a upaa-ay. God has created living beings in millions of species. ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਜੀਵ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ jis no nadar karay tis guroo milaa-ay. But only the one on whom He showers His grace
ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥ sayvaa surat sabad chit laa-ay. Then he focuses his mind in selfless service and the Guru’s word. ਤਦ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਟਿਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ha-umai maar sadaa sukh paa-i-aa maa-i-aa moh chukaavani-aa.
