ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜਨਮੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਗਇਆ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਦੇਸੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥ manmukh janam birthaa ga-i-aa ki-aa muhu daysee jaa-ay. ||3|| In this way, the life of these self-willed people is wasted. What face will they show when they go to God’s court? ||3|| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਬੇ-ਅਰਥ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੂਹਰੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਮੂੰਹ
ਸਬਦਿ ਮੰਨਿਐ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ sabad mani-ai gur paa-ee-ai vichahu aap gavaa-ay. Only when one obeys the Guru’s word and removes self conceit, then one realizes God, the ultimate Guru. ਗੁਰ-ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਪਾਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਖੋਟੀ ਰਾਸਿ ਖੋਟਾ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥ manmukh khotee raas khotaa paasaaraa. The self-willed persons earn false (worldly) wealth and make false display of their possessions, which is not acceptable in God’s court. ਮਨਮੁਖ ਉਹੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹੀ ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਖਿਲਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਰੱਬੀ ਟਕਸਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਖੋਟਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵਨਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਭਾਰਾ ॥
ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਦ ਭੈ ਰਚੈ ਆਪਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥ satgur mili-ai sad bhai rachai aap vasai man aa-ay. ||1|| Meeting the True Guru, one is permeated forever with the revered fear of God who Himself comes to dwell within the mind. ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥ satgur sayvee sabad suhaa-i-aa. I serve that True Guru, whose teaching has embellished my life, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਸਰਾ-ਪਰਨਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੰਵਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥ jin har kaa naam man vasaa-i-aa. and has enshrined
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਭੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਭੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ an-din sadaa rahai bhai andar bhai maar bharam chukaavani-aa. ||5|| Every day and always living in the revered fear of God, and by eradicating ego he controls his mind from running after vices. ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ
ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤੀ ਜਗੁ ਫਿਰੀ ਨਾ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਪੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ ha-o ha-o kartee jag firee naa Dhan sampai naal. The entire world is wandering around engrossed in self-conceit, without realizing that worldly wealth doesn’t accompany anyone after death. ਲੁਕਾਈ ਮਮਤਾ-ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੀ ਹੋਈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਭਾਉਂਦੀਂ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਧਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਨਾਲ
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਘੜਿ ਭੰਨਿ ਸਵਾਰਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੫॥੬॥ tooN aapay hee gharh bhann savaareh naanak naam suhaavani-aa. ||8||5||6|| You Yourself create, destroy and refashion Your creation.
