ਮਧੁਸੂਦਨੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ maDhusoodan japee-ai ur Dhaar. (O’ my friends), we should enshrine God, the slayer of demons, in our heart and remember Him with loving devotion. (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦੇਹੀ ਨਗਰਿ ਤਸਕਰ ਪੰਚ ਧਾਤੂ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਢੇ
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਮਾਇਣੁ ॥੧॥ gur sabdee har bhaj surat samaa-in. ||1|| therefore, focus your consciousness on God’s Name through the Guru’s divine word and remember God with adoration.||1|| ਇਸ ਲਈ, ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ॥੧॥ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਨਾਮੁ
ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੯॥ aapay gurmukh day vadi-aa-ee naanak naam samaa-ay. ||4||9||19|| O’ Nanak, God blesses a Guru’s follower with the glory and unites him with His Name. ||4||9||19|| ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਨੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭਤਾ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਊਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ॥੪॥੯॥੧੯॥ ਭੈਰਉ
ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸੋਹੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ॥੩॥ jin man vasi-aa say jan sohay hirdai naam vasaa-ay. ||3|| Those in whose mind God manifests, they live righteously by enshiring God’s Name in their heart. ||3|| ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ
ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥੨॥ naamay naam milai vadi-aa-ee jis no man vasaa-ay. ||2|| One in whose mind God enshrines Naam, he receives glory both here and hereafter by always remaining focused on God’s Name. ||2|| ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਕੇ
ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ॥ gi-aan anjan satgur tay ho-ay. It is through the true Guru that one obtains the ointment of spiritual wisdom, ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁਂਦਾ ਹੈ l ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਇ ॥੩॥ raam naam rav rahi-aa tihu lo-ay. ||3|| and he realizes that God’s Name
ਇਸੁ ਗਰਬ ਤੇ ਚਲਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਵਿਕਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ is garab tay chaleh bahut vikaaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o. Because such arrogance breeds many social evils. ||1||Pause|| ਇਸ ਮਾਣ-ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ (ਭਾਈਚਾਰਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ) ਕਈ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਚੱਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਚਾਰੇ ਵਰਨ ਆਖੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥ chaaray varan aakhai sabh ko-ee O’ my friends, everyone says
ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਚੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਰਾਈ ॥ saach ratay sach amrit jihvaa mithi-aa mail na raa-ee. Those who are imbued with God’s love, ambrosial Name of God is always on their tongue and they do not have even an iota of the filth of falsehood. ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ
ਸਾਚ ਸਬਦ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਛੂਟਸਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਭਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ saach sabad bin kabahu na chhootas birthaa janam bha-i-o. ||1|| rahaa-o. Without the divine word of God’s praises, you can never be released from the worldly bonds and your life would go to waste. ||1||Pause|| ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੀ
