ਸੋ ਟਿਕਾ ਸੋ ਬੈਹਣਾ ਸੋਈ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥ ਪਿਯੂ ਦਾਦੇ ਜੇਵਿਹਾ ਪੋਤਾ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ so tikaa so baihnaa so-ee deebaan.piyoo daaday jayvihaa potaa parvaan. Just like the spiritual father and grandfather, the grandson, Guru Amar das is an accepted Guru, he bears the same ceremonial mark and occupies the same throne in the same holy congregation.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਹਮ ਐਸੇ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ॥ gobind ham aisay apraaDhee. O’ God, we are such sinners, ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਥਾ ਦੀਆ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਸਾਧੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ jin parabh jee-o pind thaa dee-aa tis kee bhaa-o bhagat nahee saaDhee. ||1|| rahaa-o. that we have not
ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਮੁਏ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਲਿ ॥ mayree mayree kar mu-ay vin naavai dukh bhaal. Forsaking God’s Name, many people engrossed in self-conceit, crying “me, me” have died enduring misery. ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ‘ਨਾਮ’ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ (ਨਿਰੀ) ਮਾਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਗੋਂ) ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਹਾਝ ਕੇ ਹੀ (ਬੇਅੰਤ ਜੀਵ) ਚਲੇ ਗਏ;
ਆਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਰਿ ॥੪੭॥ aap ga-i-aa dukh kati-aa har var paa-i-aa naar. ||47|| The soul-bride whose ego got eliminated, she realized her Husband -God and her sorrow vanished. ||47|| ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਦੁੱਖ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਖਸਮ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ॥੪੭॥ ਸੁਇਨਾ ਰੁਪਾ ਸੰਚੀਐ ਧਨੁ ਕਾਚਾ
ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥ naa tis gi-aan na Dhi-aan hai naa tis Dharam Dhi-aan. Such a person acquires no spiritual wisdom, no meditation, no righteousness and no concentration of mind. ਐਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਨਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਗਿਆਤ ਹੈ ਨਾਂ ਸਿਮਰਨ, ਨਾਂ ਈਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਇਕਾਗਰਤਾ। ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ
ਆਤਮੁ ਜਿਤਾ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਆਗੰਜਤ ਪਾਗਾ ॥ aatam jitaa gurmatee aaganjat paagaa. He wins over himself through the Guru’s teachings, and realizes the eternal God. ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋ ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਤਾਗਾ ॥ jisahi Dhi-aa-i-aa paarbarahm
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ pa-orhee. Pauree: ਸਭੇ ਦੁਖ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਜਾਂ ਤੁਧਹੁ ਭੁਲੀਐ ॥ sabhay dukh santaap jaaN tuDhhu bhulee-ai. O’ God, we are afflicted with all kinds of misery and worries when we neglect remembering You. ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਦੋਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਜਾਈਏ ਤਾਂ (ਮਨ ਨੂੰ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ (ਆ ਵਾਪਰਦੇ ਹਨ)। ਜੇ ਕੀਚਨਿ ਲਖ ਉਪਾਵ ਤਾਂ
