ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਜਨੁ ਬਿਛੂਅ ਡਸਾਨਾ ॥੨॥ naam sunat jan bichhoo-a dasaanaa. ||2|| Upon hearing Naam, he behaves as if he has been stung by a scorpion. ||2|| ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਉਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਠੂੰਹਾਂ ਡੰਗ ਮਾਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਝੂਰੈ ॥ maa-i-aa kaaran sad hee jhoorai.
ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਅ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਸਿੰਚੇ ਮਾਇ ॥ taritee-a bivasthaa sinchay maa-ay. In the third stage of life,one gets busy amassing worldly wealth. (ਜਵਾਨੀ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ) ਤੀਜੀ ਉਮਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਜੋੜਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਬਿਰਧਿ ਭਇਆ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲਿਓ ਪਛੁਤਾਇ ॥੨॥ biraDh bha-i-aa chhod chali-o pachhutaa-ay. ||2|| And finally on growing old, he departs from this world in total
ਨਿਹਚਲ ਆਸਨੁ ਬੇਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ nihchal aasan baysumaar. ||2|| Beyond description is that spiritual state which is unshakable by worldly temptations. ||2|| ਉਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਣ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ) ਕਦੇ ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਉਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੨॥ ਡਿਗਿ ਨ ਡੋਲੈ ਕਤਹੂ ਨ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ dig na dolai kathoo na Dhaavai. ਪੀਵਤ ਅਮਰ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਕਾਮ ॥ peevat amar bha-ay nihkaam. Drinking that ambrosial nectar, people become spiritually immortal and get liberated from the love of worldly desires. ਉਸ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੀਂਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਟੱਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਸਨਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥ tan man seetal agan nivaaree.
