ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ga-orhee mehlaa 5. Raag Gauree, Fifth Guru: ਭੁਜ ਬਲ ਬੀਰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਗਰਤ ਪਰਤ ਗਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਅੰਗੁਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ bhuj bal beer barahm sukh saagar garat parat geh layho anguree-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o. O’ my almighty God, the ocean of peace, save me from falling into the ditch of sins.
ਮਇਆ ਕਰੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ma-i-aa karee pooran har raa-i-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o. on whom the all pervading Sovereign God shows His mercy. ||1||Pause|| ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗ ॥ kaho naanak jaa kay pooray bhaag. ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਮਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਥਿਧਾਈ ॥ ahaN-buDh man poor thiDhaa-ee. The human mind is smeared with the ‘greasy dirt’ of egotistical pride. ਹਉਮੈ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ) ਥਿੰਧਾਈ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ l ਸਾਧ ਧੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਧ ਮੰਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ saaDh Dhoor kar suDh manjaa-ee. ||1|| With the teachings of the saints,
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਤਹ ਗੋਸਟਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ satsang tah gosat ho-ay. Holy congregation is the place where divine discourse is held ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਥੇ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਕਥਾ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਖੋਇ ॥੨॥ kot janam kay kilvikh kho-ay. ||2|| and sins of millions of births are erased. ||2|| ਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ
ਰੂਪਵੰਤੁ ਸੋ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਸਿਆਣਾ ॥ roopvant so chatur si-aanaa. He alone is handsome, clever and wise, (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰੂਪ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਤੀਖਣ ਬੁੱਧਿ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ॥੨॥ jin jan maani-aa parabh kaa bhaanaa. ||2|| who cheerfully surrenders to God’s will. ||2|| ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ
ਅਉਖਧ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਤੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਛਾਰੁ ॥ a-ukhaDh mantar tant sabh chhaar. In comparison to Naam, all medicines, spells and charms are as useless as dust. ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦਾਰੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੰਤਰ ਤੇ ਟੂਣੇ ਤੁੱਛ ਹਨ। ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ਰਿਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਧਾਰੁ ॥੩॥ karnaihaar riday meh Dhaar. ||3|| Enshrine the Creator God within your heart.
