ਉਕਤਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸਗਲੀ ਤਿਆਗੁ ॥ ukat si-aanap saglee ti-aag. Give up all your arguments and cleverness, ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਦਲੀਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਿਆਣਪਾਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੨॥ sant janaa kee charnee laag. ||2|| and humbly follow the teachings of the saintly persons. ||2|| ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਉ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਅ ਹਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ
ਹਸਤੀ ਘੋੜੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਾਸਾ ॥ hastee ghorhay daykh vigaasaa. He feels delighted at the sight of his elephants and horses ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਾਥੀ ਘੋੜੇ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ (ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ), ਲਸਕਰ ਜੋੜੇ ਨੇਬ ਖਵਾਸਾ ॥ laskar jorhay nayb khavaasaa. He assembles a vast army, and keeps advisers and royal servants. ਫ਼ੌਜਾਂ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੰਤਰੀ ਤੇ
ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥ aapay hee parabh deh mat har naam Dhi-aa-ee-ai. O’ God, upon whom You bestow wisdom meditates on Naam. ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!, ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ vadbhaagee satgur milai

ਇਸੁ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ is kalijug meh karam Dharam na ko-ee. In this age (of evil), no rituals or deeds of righteousness are successful in achieving freedom from vices. ਇਸ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ (ਭਾਵ, ਕੁਕਰਮ-ਦਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ) ਕੋਈ ਕਰਮ-ਧਰਮ ਛੁਡਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਕਲੀ ਕਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਚੰਡਾਲ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਈ ॥ kalee kaa janam chandaal
