ਗਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਬਰਨ ਚਾਰਿ ਖਟ ਦਰਸਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਦਿਕ ਸਿਮਰੰਥਿ ਗੁਨਾ ॥ gaavahi gun baran chaar khat darsan barahmaadik simranth gunaa. All the four castes and all the six sects of yogis sing praises of Guru Nanak, and gods like Brahma also remembers his virtues. ਚਾਰੇ ਵਰਣ, ਛੇ ਭੇਖ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਦ ਮਤਸਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਾਰੀ ॥ kaam kroDh mad matsar tarisnaa binas jaahi har naam uchaaree. Lust, anger, egotism, jealousy and worldly desire vanish by lovingly remembering God’s Name. ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਕਾਮ, ਕ੍ਰੋਧ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰ, ਈਰਖਾ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ-ਇਹ ਸਭ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸਨਾਨ ਦਾਨ ਤਾਪਨ ਸੁਚਿ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ
ਇਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਹੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥ ih jee-o sadaa mukat hai sehjay rahi-aa samaa-ay. ||2|| Then, this soul is liberated forever (from ego or worldly attachments), and it remains absorbed in celestial bliss. ||2|| ਫਿਰ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ (ਮਾਇਆ-ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਡੋਲ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥ ਪਉੜੀ
ਕਵਲ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਭਏ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੇ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥੨॥ kaval pargaas bha-ay saaDhsangay durmat buDh ti-aagee. ||2|| In the company of the Guru, their hearts blossom and they renounce evil thoughts. ||2|| ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਕੌਲ ਖਿੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ
ਜਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਤਿਹ ਭਜੁ ਰੇ ਤੈ ਮੀਤ ॥ jih simrat gat paa-ee-ai tih bhaj ray tai meet. O’ my friend, lovingly remember that God by remembering whom higher spiritual state is attained. ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸੋ ਸਿਮਰੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧੫॥ jisahi uDhaaray naankaa so simray sirjanhaar. ||15|| O’ Nanak, whom God saves, that person starts remembering the creator-God with adoration. ||15|| ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ (ਜੀਵ) ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥ ਦੂਜੀ ਛੋਡਿ ਕੁਵਾਟੜੀ ਇਕਸ ਸਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ
