ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਸੇਵਾ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥ vich ha-umai sayvaa thaa-ay na paa-ay. ਤਿਸ ਦੀ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਏ ॥ tis dee boojhai je gur sabad kamaa-ay. Only that person’s fire of worldly desire gets extinguished who leads life in accordance with the Guru’s divine word. ਇਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ-ਅੱਗ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਝਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ
ਆਪੇ ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ aapay sachaa sabad milaa-ay. On His own, the eternal God unites a person to the Guru’s divine word. ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਬਦੇ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥ sabday vichahu bharam chukaa-ay. and drives out that person’s doubt from within his mind through
ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ maaroo mehlaa 3. Raag Maaroo, Third Guru: ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਿ ਆਕਾਰੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥ nirankaar aakaar upaa-i-aa. The formless God created this visible form of the world, ਆਕਾਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ) ਇਹ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਬਣਾਇਆ ॥ maa-i-aa moh hukam banaa-i-aa. and then by His command, He
ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥ har cheeteh tin balihaarai jaa-o. I am dedicated to those who lovingly remember God, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਿਨ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਉ ॥ gur kai sabad tin mayl milaa-o. and through the Gurus word, I unite with them
ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥ jis bhaanaa bhaavai so tujheh samaa-ay. One who is pleased with Your will, merges in You. ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਭਾਣਾ ਕਿਸਹਿ ਕਰਾਇਦਾ ॥੩॥ bhaanay vich vadee vadi-aa-ee bhaanaa kiseh karaa-idaa. ||3|| There
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸਹਜ ਅਨੰਦਾ ॥ satgur sayvi-ai sahj anandaa. Bliss of spiritual stability is received by following the true Guru’s teachings, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਿਰਦੈ ਆਇ ਵੁਠਾ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ॥ hirdai aa-ay vuthaa govindaa. and God of the universe manifests in the heart. ਅਤੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ
ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਨਿਹਚਉ ਹੋਵੈ ॥ kartaa karay so nihcha-o hovai. Whatever the Creator does, that happens for sure. ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਖੋਵੈ ॥ gur kai sabday ha-umai khovai. Egotism vanishes only by following the Guru’s word. ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ
