ਹੁਕਮੇ ਸਾਜੇ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਢਾਹੇ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੫॥ hukmay saajay hukmay dhaahay hukmay mayl milaa-idaa. ||5|| God creates everything by His command and also destroys by His command; by His command, He unites beings with Him by uniting them with the Guru. ||5|| ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਢਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥ an-din sadaa rahai rang raataa kar kirpaa bhagat karaa-idaa. ||6|| One who always remains imbued with God’s love, bestowing mercy, God Himself inspires him to perform devotional worship. ||6|| ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਏ ॥ gurmukh hovai so sojhee paa-ay. The one who follows the Guru’s teachings, attains understanding about righteous living, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥ ha-umai maa-i-aa bharam gavaa-ay. and gets rid of egotism and illusion
ਸਦਾ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਕੇਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੭॥ sadaa kaaraj sach naam suhaylaa bin sabdai kaaraj kayhaa hay. ||7|| The life’s objective is always accomplished by focusing on the eternal God’s Name; what can any one do without the Guru’s word? ||7|| ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਜਨਮ-ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਫਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥ gur kai sabad har naam vakhaanai. and he lovingly recites God’s Name through the Guru’s word. ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੮॥ an-din naam rataa din raatee maa-i-aa moh chukaahaa hay.
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਲਬੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਾ ਦੋਰਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੯॥ bikhi-aa kaaran lab lobh kamaaveh durmat kaa doraahaa hay. ||9|| Those who perform acts of greed for the sake of materialism, their journey of life is always influenced by the evil intellect of double mindedness. ||9|| ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਲੱਬ ਲੋਭ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥ jug chaaray gur sabad pachhaataa. Throughout the four ages, God has been realized through the Guru’s word. ਚੌਹਾਂ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਦੀ ਆਈ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਨਮੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥ gurmukh marai na janmai gurmukh gurmukh
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ poorai satgur sojhee paa-ee. The perfect true Guru has blessed me with understanding about spiritual life, ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ, ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥ ayko naam man vasaa-ee. and now I enshrine God’s Name in my mind. ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਸਚੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥ aapay bakhsay sach drirh-aa-ay man tan saachai raataa hay. ||11|| Upon whom God bestows mercy, He firmly implants His Name in his heart; then the mind and body of that person gets imbued with God’s love. ||11|| ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤੂ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥ jah daykhaa too sabhnee thaa-ee. Wherever I look, I perceive You pervading everywhere, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਜਿੱਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ poorai gur sabh sojhee paa-ee.
