ਸੁਣਿ ਗਲਾ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਆਇਆ ॥ sun galaa gur peh aa-i-aa. I heard of the Guru, and so I went to Him. ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ, سُنھِگلاگُرپہِآئِیا॥ ۔ سن ۔ سنک ۔ دان ۔ سخاوت میں تعریف اور نیکی سنکر آیا ہوں ۔ ਨਾਮੁ
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥ tuDh aapay aap upaa-i-aa. O God, You revealed Yourself in the form of this Universe, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ (ਜਗਤ-ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, تُدھُآپےآپُاُپائِیا॥ آپے آپ ۔ از خود ۔ اے خدا تو نے خود ہی پیدا کر کے ਦੂਜਾ ਖੇਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਦਿਖਲਾਇਆ ॥ doojaa
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਲੋਚਦੇ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਬੁਝਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥ sur nar mun jan lochday so satgur dee-aa bujhaa-ay jee-o. ||4|| The angelic beings and the silent sages long for Him; the True Guru has given me this understanding. ਜਿਸ ਨਾਮ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੋਨਧਾਰੀ ਲੋਕ ਤਰਸਦੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ (ਪਦਾਰਥ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ
ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਤਾ ਖੜਿ ਰਸਾਤਲਿ ਦੀਤ ॥੭॥ chit na aa-i-o paarbarahm taa kharh rasaatal deet. ||7|| But if one does not contemplate God, one shall be consigned to hell. ਪਰ ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ (ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਲਿਜਾ ਕੇ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l چِتِنآئِئوپارب٘رہمُتاکھڑِرساتلِدیِت॥੭॥ کھڑ رساتل دبت
ਏਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਜਲਤਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਕੈ ਭਜਿ ਪਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾ ॥ ayhu jag jaltaa daykh kai bhaj pa-ay satgur sarnaa. Seeing Humanity burning in the fires of desire, some run to the Guru’s sanctuary. ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜਦਾ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਜਾ ਪਏ, ایہُجگُجلتادیکھِکےَبھجِپۓستِگُرسرنھا॥ جہان۔ بد
ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ sireeraag mehlaa 3. Siree Raag, by the Third Guru: ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਫੇਰੁ ਨ ਪਵੈ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ satgur mili-ai fayr na pavai janam maran dukh jaa-ay. Meeting with the Guru, one does not have to wander through (millions of species), and the pains of birth and death goes away.
SGGS Page 68 ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪੀ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈ ਚਲਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਏ ॥ man tan arpee aap gavaa-ee chalaa satgur bhaa-ay. Shedding all my self-conceit from within, I surrender myself completely to the Guru and do what pleases the true Guru. ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਤਿਆਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਜਗੁ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਫਿਰੈ ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਗਈ ਖਾਇ ॥ bin sabdai jag dukhee-aa firai manmukhaa no ga-ee khaa-ay. Without the the Guru’s word, the world keeps wandering in pain due to its love for maya, which has consumed the self-willed people. ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਗਤ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਦੁਖੀ ਫਿਰਦਾ
ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ sireeraag mehlaa 3. Siree Raag, by the Third Guru: ਪੰਖੀ ਬਿਰਖਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੜਾ ਸਚੁ ਚੁਗੈ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥ pankhee birakh suhaavrhaa sach chugai gur bhaa-ay. The soul-bird in the beautiful tree of the body pecks at Truth with love for the Guru. ਜੀਵ-ਪੰਛੀ ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ-ਰੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥ satgur sayv gun niDhaan paa-i-aa tis kee keem na paa-ee. You cannot admire enough a person who has realized God Almighty, the Treasure of Virtues, by serving the Guru. ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ
