ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ sireeraag mehlaa 5. Siree Raag, by the Fifth Guru: ਭਲਕੇ ਉਠਿ ਪਪੋਲੀਐ ਵਿਣੁ ਬੁਝੇ ਮੁਗਧ ਅਜਾਣਿ ॥ bhalkay uth papolee-ai vin bujhay mugaDh ajaan. Getting up each morning you pamper your body, but without understanding the true purpose of life, you remain thoughtless and ignorant. ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਉੱਦਮ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ
ਓਨੀ ਚਲਣੁ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਖਰਚੁ ਲੀਆ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਇ ॥ onee chalan sadaa nihaali-aa har kharach lee-aa pat paa-ay. They keep death constantly before their eyes; they gather the wealth of God’s Name, and receive honor (in this world and in God’s court). ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ (ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ (ਸਾਹਮਣੇ) ਵੇਖਿਆ
ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥ sireeraag mehlaa 4. Siree Raag, by the Fourth Guru: ਹਉ ਪੰਥੁ ਦਸਾਈ ਨਿਤ ਖੜੀ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਸੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ ha-o panth dasaa-ee nit kharhee ko-ee parabh dasay tin jaa-o. I stand by the wayside and ask the Way. If only someone would share with me the Way to God, I
ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਰੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ sahas si-aanap kar rahay man korai rang na ho-ay. By trying thousands of other clever techniques, the raw and unimpressionable mind does not embrace any Divine Love. (ਤਪ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ) ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਸਿਆਣਪਾਂ (ਜੇਹੜੇ ਲੋਕ) ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਲੋਂ ਕੋਰਾ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕਰੈ ਧੰਨੁ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ tin kee sayvaa Dharam raa-ay karai Dhan savaaranhaar. ||2|| Great is the Almighty who blesses those spiritual beings and they are honored by the Almighty Himself. تِنکیِسیۄادھرمراءِکرےَدھنّنُسۄارنھہارُ ۔ دھرم رائے ۔ الہٰی منصف اس قابل ستائش خدا پر ایسے وحدت کے پرستاروں کی دھرم رائے بھی
ਮੁੰਧੇ ਕੂੜਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਿ ॥ munDhay koorh muthee koorhi-aar. O’ misled soul-bride, you have been deceived by mirage of worldly entanglements. (Unless you wake up, you are not going to be able to meet the Almighty, your Groom) مُنّدھےکوُڑِمُٹھیِکوُڑِیارِ مندھے ۔اگے محو عورت ۔ انسان ۔ مھٹی ۔لٹی ہوئی ۔ کوڑ۔جھوٹ اے مست نوجوان جھوٹ
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ bin satgur kinai na paa-i-o kar vaykhhu man veechaar. Reflect in your mind and you will see for yourself that without the guidance of the Guru, no one has ever realized God. ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਦੀ ਸਰਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਕਿਉ ਮੁਕਰਿ ਪਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ sabh kichh sundaa vaykh-daa ki-o mukar pa-i-aa jaa-ay. God sees and hears everything (we do or say), so how can anyone can Him. ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਤੇ ਚਿਤਵੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੱਕਰਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। سبھُکِچھُسُنھداۄیکھداکِءُمُکرِپئِیاجاءِ مُکر ۔
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜਨਮੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਗਇਆ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਦੇਸੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥ manmukh janam birthaa ga-i-aa ki-aa muhu daysee jaa-ay. ||3|| In this way, the life of these self-willed people is wasted. What face will they show when they go to God’s court? ||3|| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਬੇ-ਅਰਥ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੂਹਰੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਮੂੰਹ
