ਸਬਦੈ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਗੋ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ sabdai saad na aa-i-o naam na lago pi-aar. That person, who does not enjoy the taste of Guru’s word and has not been imbued with the love of Naam, ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੁੜਿਆ,
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧ ਨ ਚੇਤਨੀ ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰਿ ਹੋਹਿ ਬਿਨਾਸਿ ॥ manmukh anDh na chaytnee janam mar hohi binaas. The spiritually blind, self-willed persons do not think of God, and are being spiritually destroyed by going through the cycle of birth and death. ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ, ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ
ਸਭਿ ਘਟ ਭੋਗਵੈ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥ sabhghat bhogvai alipat rahai alakh na lakh-naa jaa-ee. He enjoys everything by pervading in all hearts, and yet remains detached from them; that incomprehensible God cannot be comprehended. ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂਸਾਰੇ ਘਟਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ) ਤੇ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਭੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਅਲੱਖ
ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤੁਸਟੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਨੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਗਲ ਮੰਨੀ ॥ jinaa gursikhaa ka-o har santusat hai tinee satgur kee gal mannee. The Guru’s disciples, with whom God is pleased , follow the true Guru’ teachings. ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ। جِناگُرسِکھاکءُہرِسنّتُسٹُہےَتِنیِستِگُرکیِگلمنّنیِ॥ سنشٹ۔ راضی۔ تنی
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਨਿ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ naanak bin satgur sayvay jam pur baDhay maaree-an muhi kaalai uth jaahi. ||1|| O’ Nanak, without following the true Guru’s teachings, people depart from the world in disgrace and are punished hereafter. ||1|| ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ, ਮੁਕਾਲਖ ਖੱਟ
ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੭॥ so satgur tin ka-o bhayti-aa jin kai mukh mastak bhaag likh paa-i-aa. ||7|| Only those persons who are predestined, have met and received the teachings of such a true Guru. ||7|| ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੂੰਹ
ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥ tis gur ka-o sad balihaarnai jin har sayvaa banat banaa-ee. I am dedicated to that Guru who started the tradition of God’s devotional worship. ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਰੀਤ ਚਲਾਈ ਹੈ। تِسُگُرکءُسدبلِہارنھےَجِنِہرِسیۄابنھتبنھائیِ॥ بنت۔ رسم۔ رواج ۔
ਦੁਖਿ ਲਗੈ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਅਗੈ ਦੂਣੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥ dukh lagai ghar ghar firai agai doonee milai sajaa-ay. One who acts like a saint simply by wearing holy garbs, he suffers by going from door to door for his sustenance here and receives double punishment hereafter. (ਭੇਖੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੇ) ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਕਲਪਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ salok mehlaa 3. Shalok, Third Guru: سلوکُمਃ੩॥ ਭੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭੁ ਆਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸੋਇ ॥ bhai vich sabh aakaar hai nirbha-o har jee-o so-ay. The entire creation is under some kind of fear, but only that venerable God iswithout any fear. (ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਸਾਰਾ ਆਕਾਰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ) ਡਰ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ
ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਸਚੜੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥ bharam maa-i-aa vichahu katee-ai sachrhai naam samaa-ay. Then all the doubts due to Maya are removed from within and the person merges in the true Name of the eternal God. ਤਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ
