ਖਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਬਿਰਥੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਤ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਜੀਜੀਐ ॥ khaan paan seegaar birthay har kant bin ki-o jeejee-ai. Without the remembrance of God, all kinds of food, drink and decorations are useless; how can I survive without my Husband-God? ਸਾਰੇ ਖਾਣ ਪੀਣ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ
ਆਵਣੁ ਤ ਜਾਣਾ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਕੀਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਮੇਦਨਿ ਸਿਰਜੀਆ ॥ aavanta jaanaa tineh kee-aa jin maydan sirjee-aa. It is God who created this universe and set up this process of birth and death. (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ) ਜੰਮਣਾ ਮਰਨਾ ਉਸੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। آۄنھُ ت جانھا تِنہِ کیِیا
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੈਰੀ ਆਣਿ ਸਭਿ ਘਤੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥ gur pooraa naanak sayvi-aa mayree jindurhee-ay jin pairee aan sabhghatay raam. ||3|| O’ my soul, Nanak has sought the shelter of that perfect Guru, who has made all the evil minded people to surrender before him . ll3ll ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ!
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੋ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥ naanak har jap sukh paa-i-aa mayree jindurhee-ay sabhdookh nivaaranhaaro raam. ||1|| O’ Nanak, I have found peace by meditating on God, who is the destroyer of all sorrows. ||1|| ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ
ਜਨ ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥ jan taraahi taraahi sarnaagatee mayree jindurhee-ay gur naanak har rakhvaalay raam. ||3|| However, making repeated and urgent cries for help, O’ my soul, the devotees seek the refuge of the Guru; O’ Nanak, God becomes their protector.||3|| ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ!
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਠਹਰਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਅਨਤ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਡੋਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ gurmat man thehraa-ee-ai mayree jindurhee-ay anat na kaahoo dolay raam. Under Guru’s teachings, hold the mind steady, O’ my soul, do not let it wander anywhere. ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ
ੴਸਤਿਨਾਮੁਕਰਤਾਪੁਰਖੁਨਿਰਭਉਨਿਰਵੈਰੁਅਕਾਲਮੂਰਤਿਅਜੂਨੀਸੈਭੰਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥ ik-oNkaar sat naam kartaapurakhnirbha-o nirvairakaalmooratajooneesaibhaNgurparsaad. There is only one God whose Name is ‘of eternal existence’. He is the creator of the universe, all-pervading, without fear, without enmity, independent oftime, beyond the cycle of birth and death and self revealed.
