ਵਰਨੁਭੇਖੁਅਸਰੂਪੁਸੁਏਕੋਏਕੋਸਬਦੁਵਿਡਾਣੀ॥ varanbhaykhasroop so aykoaykosabadvidaanee. ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਰਸੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਅਉਧੂ ਹਉਮੈ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ bin sabdai rasna aavai a-oDhooha-umai pi-aas na jaa-ee. O’ yogi, the breath (spiritual life) does notget sustenance without the Guru’s word and the yearning for ego does not go away. ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ (ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਰਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਗੁਰੂ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ
ਗੁਪਤੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ guptee banee pargat ho-ay. One to whom this secret divine word is revealed, ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਲੁਕਵੀਂ ਰੱਬੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਰੌ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, گُپتیِبانھیِپرگٹُہوءِ॥ گپتی بانی ۔ کلام کے پوشدیہ راز۔ پرگٹ ۔ ظاہر ۔ پرکھ پہچان۔ خدا جو کلام پوشیدہ تھا وہ ظاہر ہوجاتا ہے ۔

ਬਿਨੁਸਬਦੈਸਭਿਦੂਜੈਲਾਗੇਦੇਖਹੁਰਿਦੈਬੀਚਾਰਿ॥ bin sabdaisabhdoojailaagaydaykhhuridaibeechaar. By reflecting in your heart, you may see for yourself that without following the Guru’s word, all are attached to duality (things other than God). ਹਿਰਦੇਵਿਚਵਿਚਾਰਕੇਵੇਖਲਵੋ , ਗੁਰੂਦੇਸ਼ਬਦ (ਵਿਚਜੁੜਨ) ਤੋਂਬਿਨਾਸਾਰੇਲੋਕ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂਨੂੰਛੱਡਕੇ) ਹੋਰ (ਰੁਝੇਵੇਂ) ਵਿਚਲੱਗੇਰਹਿੰਦੇਹਨ। بِنُسبدےَسبھِدوُجےَلاگےدیکھہُرِدےَبیِچارِ॥ دوبے ۔ دوئی ۔ دوئش ۔ تفرقات ۔ سچ ۔ شبد کے بغیر لوگ دوسری سمتوں میں
ਸੋਬੂਝੈਜਿਸੁਆਪਿਬੁਝਾਏਗੁਰਕੈਸਬਦਿਸੁਮੁਕਤੁਭਇਆ॥ so boojhaijisaapbujhaa-ay gur kai sabad so mukatbha-i-aa. That person alone understands this mystery, whom God Himself inspires to understand, and he is liberated from ego through the Guru’s word. ਇਹਭੇਤਉਹਮਨੁੱਖਸਮਝਦਾਹੈਜਿਸਨੂੰਪ੍ਰਭੂਆਪਸਮਝਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂਦੇਸ਼ਬਦਵਿਚਜੁੜਨਦੇਕਾਰਨਉਹਮਨੁੱਖਹਉਮੈਤੋਂਆਜ਼ਾਦਹੋਜਾਂਦਾਹੈ। سوبوُجھےَجِسُآپِبُجھاۓگُرکےَسبدِسُمُکتُبھئِیا॥ مکت۔ نجات۔ آزاد۔ تار نہارا۔ کامیابی کی توفیق رکھنے والا۔ اسکا راز وہی جانتا ہے جسے خدا خود سمجھاتا ہے وہ کلام
ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਖਾਈ ॥ kit biDh aasaa mansaa khaa-ee. How have you subdued your hopes and desires? ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਫੁਰਨੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮੁਕਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ? کِتُبِدھِآسامنساکھائیِ॥ کت بدھ کس طریقے سے ۔ آسا۔ امید۔ منسا۔ ارادے ۔ کھائی ۔ ختم کئے ۔ اور کس طرح خواہشات امیدوں اور امیدوں
ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਈਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕਾਈ ॥ tirath naa-ee-ai sukh fal paa-ee-ai mail na laagai kaa-ee. We attain the fruit of spiritual peace by bathing at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, and are not afflicted by the filth of evils. ਤੀਰਥ ਤੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ; ਇਸ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ‘ਸੁਖ’, ਤੇ (ਮਨ
ਬਿਦਿਆ ਸੋਧੈ ਤਤੁ ਲਹੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ bidi-aa soDhai tat lahai raam naam liv laa-ay. By reflecting on the knowledge, he realizes the essence of reality and focuses his mind on God’s Name. ਉਹ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂਅਸਲੇ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ। بِدِیاسودھےَتتُلہےَرامناملِۄلاءِ॥ تت لہے ۔
