ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਰੰਗਾ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ॥
baran na saaka-o tumray rangaa gun niDhaan sukh–daatay.
I cannot describe Your Manifestations, O Treasure of Excellence, O Giver of peace.

My doubt and fear have been taken away, and I have been made pure, since my ego was conquered.

جنم مرݨ کۄ چۄُکۄ سہسا سادھسنّگتِ درساری ॥3॥
میرا پیدائشی اور موت کا خوف ختم ہو گیا ہے ، آپ کا مبارک بصیرت دیکھنے میں صحبت سنگت ، صحبت پاک۔
ਚਰਣ ਪਖਾਰਿ ਕਰਉ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਾਰਿ ਜਾਉ ਲਖ ਬਰੀਆ ॥
charan pakhaar kara-o gur sayvaa baar jaa-o lakh baree-aa.
I wash the Guru’s Feet and serve Him; I am a sacrifice to Him, 100,000 times.
I wash the feet and perform the service of the Guru (most humbly follow his word—the Gurbani).
چرݨ پکھارِ کرءُ گُر سیوا بارِ جاءُ لکھ بریِیا ॥

In this hymn Guru humbly acknowledged that he was unable to describe the wonders of the wonderful God. He advised us that we should pray to God to bless us with the guidance of the Guru, who may protect us against the false temptations of the world

آپ کو چھوڑ کر کون آپ کو خوش کر سکتا ہے؟
ਤੇਰੋ ਰੂਪੁ ਸਗਲ ਦੇਖਿ ਮੋਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Gazing upon Your Beauteous Form, all are entranced. ||1||Pause||

Everyone calls upon You with their palms pressed together, saying, “Shiva, Shiva”. O Merciful Lord and Master, everyone cries out for Your Help. ||1||

ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੀਤਲੋਹੀ ॥

Your Name, O Lord and Master, is the Purifier of sinners, the Giver of peace, immaculate, cooling and soothing.
O’ God, your Naam is the sanctifier of sinners, and provider of pure peace and calm.
پتِت پاون ٹھاکُر نامُ تُمرا سُکھدائی نِرمل سیِتلۄہی ॥
اے رب ، مالک ، آپ کا نام گنہگاروں کو پاک کرنے والا ، امن دینے والا ، بے عیب ، ٹھنڈا کرنے اور راحت بخش ہے۔
ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਿਉ ਗਾਲ ਗਲੋਹੀ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੨੯॥
gi-aan Dhi-aan naanak vadi-aa-ee sant tayray si-o gaal galohee. ||2||8||129||
O Nanak, spiritual wisdom, meditation and glorious greatness come from dialogue and discourse with Your Saints. ||2||8||129||
It is the dialogue with Your saints which has provided Nanak with all the divine wisdom, meditation, and glory. (It is they who guided him to meditate on Your Name, and become worthy of Your grace) ||2||8||129||
Guru Ji advised us that we couldn’t win the grace or love of God by any of our physical charms, or intellectual merits. It is only by seeking the grace and guidance of the Guru that we can learn to truly meditate on God’s Name and become worthy of His love and grace. Yet even for the grace and guidance of the Guru, we have to pray to God in a most humble and endearing manner.

مِلہُ پِیارے جیِیا ۔ ॥
میرے پیارے محبوب سے مجھ سے ملو۔
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਆ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ਥੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Wandering around through countless incarnations, I endured pain and suffering in so many lives, over and over again.

لاتعداد اوتار میں گھومتے پھرتے ، مجھے بار بار بہت ساری زندگیوں میں تکلیف اور تکلیف برداشت ہوتی رہی۔
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਦੇਹ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ ਦੇਹੁ ਦਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
tumree kirpaa tay maanukh dayh paa-ee hai dayh daras har raa-i-aa. ||1||
By Your Grace, I obtained this human body; grant me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, O Sovereign Lord King. ||1||

تُمری ک٘رِپا تے مانُکھ دیہ پائی ہےَ دیہُ درسُ ہرِ رائِیا ॥1॥
تیرے فضل سے ، میں نے یہ انسانی جسم حاصل کیا۔ اے خداوند بادشاہ ، مجھے اپنے درشن کا بابرکت نظریہ عطا فرما
ਸੋਈ ਹੋਆ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਿਨ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ॥
so-ee ho-aa jo tis bhaanaa avar na kin hee keetaa.
That which pleases His Will has come to pass; no one else can do anything.
سۄئی ہۄیا جۄ تِسُ بھاݨا اورُ ن کِن ہی کیِتا ॥
جو اس کی رضا کو راضی کرتا ہے وہ ہوا۔ کوئی دوسرا کچھ نہیں کرسکتا۔
ਤੁਮਰੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਜਾਗਤੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੂਤਾ ॥੨॥
tumrai bhaanai bharam mohi mohi-aa jaagat naahee sootaa. ||2||
By Your Will, enticed by the illusion of emotional attachment, the people are asleep; they do not wake up. ||2||
In Your will, the world is lured by the illusion of Maya (attachments), and the sleeping (ignorant human being) do not wake up (from the false worldly allurements). ||2||
تُمرےَ بھاݨےَ بھرمِ مۄہِ مۄہِیا جاگتُ ناہی سۄُتا ॥2॥
آپ کی مرضی سے ، جذباتی لگاؤ کے فریب سے لالچ میں ، لوگ سو رہے ہیں۔ وہ نہیں اٹھتے
ਬਿਨਉ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
bin-o sunhu tum paraanpat pi-aaray kirpaa niDh da-i-aalaa.
Please hear my prayer, O Lord of Life, O Beloved, Ocean of mercy and compassion.

بِنءُ سُنہُ تُم پ٘رانپتِ پِیارے کِرپا نِدھِ دئِیالا ۔ ॥
براہ کرم ، میری دعا سن ، اے رب حیات ، اے محبوب ، رحم و کرم کا سمندر۔
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਨਾਥਹ ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੩॥
raakh layho pitaa parabh mayray anaathah kar partipaalaa. ||3||
Save me, O my Father God. I am an orphan – please, cherish me! ||3||
O’ my God and father, save me (from Vices), and protect the orphans (like me) ||3||
راکھِ لیہُ پِتا پ٘ربھ میرے اناتھہ کرِ پ٘رتِپالا ॥3॥
اے میرے باپ خدا ، مجھے بچا۔ میں یتیم ہوں –
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਪਾਛੈ ॥
jis no tumeh dikhaa-i-o darsan saaDhsangat kai paachhai.
You reveal the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, for the sake of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
Your sight, it has been through the support of the congregation of saintly persons.
جِس نۄ تُمہِ دِکھائِئۄ درسنُ سادھسنّگتِ کےَ پاچھےَ ॥
براہ کرم ، مجھے پسند کیج آپ نے ساد سنگت ، مقدس کی صحبت کی خاطر ، اپنے درشن کا بابرکت نظریہ ظاہر کیا۔
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧੂਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਇਹੁ ਬਾਛੈ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੩੦॥
kar kirpaa Dhoor dayh santan kee sukh naanak ih baachhai. ||4||9||130||
Grant Your Grace, and bless us with the dust of the feet of the Saints; Nanak yearns for this peace. ||4||9||130||
Nanak also begs for this comfort Please show mercy (on him), and bless him with the humble service of the saints.(get spiritual guidance)
Guru Ji stated that whomsoever God has blessed with His sight, it has been through the support of the congregation of saintly persons. Therefore, he prayed to God to give him to the service of the saints.
کرِ کِرپا دھۄُرِ دیہُ سنّتن کی سُکھُ نانکُ اِہُ باچھےَ ॥4॥9॥ 130 ॥

mahimaa taa kee kaytak ganee-ai jan paarbarahm rang raatay.
How can I recount the praises of those humble beings who are attuned to the Love of the Supreme Lord God?
For how long can we count the glory of those devotees who are imbued with the love of God?
مہِما تا کی کیتک گنیِۓَ جن پارب٘رہم رنّگِ راتے ॥
میں ان عاجز انسانوں کی تعریفوں کو کس طرح سن سکتا ہوں جو پروردگار خدا سے محبت کرتے ہیں؟
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਤਿਨਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਨ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਦਾਤੇ ॥੧॥
sookh sahj aanand tinaa sang un samsar avar na daatay. ||1||
Peace, intuitive poise and bliss are with them. There are no other givers equal to them. ||1||
In their company is obtained peace, poise and bliss. There are no benefactors equal to them. ||1|
سۄُکھ سہج آننّد تِنا سنّگِ اُن سمسرِ اور ن داتے ॥1॥
امن ، بدیہی تسکین اور نعمت ان کے ساتھ ہے۔ ان کے برابر کوئی دوسرا دینے والا نہیں ہے۔
ਜਗਤ ਉਧਾਰਣ ਸੇਈ ਆਏ ਜੋ ਜਨ ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥
jagat uDhaaran say-ee aa-ay jo jan daras pi-aasaa.
They have come to save the world – those humble beings who thirst for His Blessed Vision.
جگت اُدھارݨ سیئی آۓ جۄ جن درس پِیاسا ॥
وہ دنیا کو بچانے آئے ہیں۔ وہ شائستہ انسان جو اپنے بصیرت کے پیاسے ہیں۔
ਉਨ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੈ ਸੋ ਤਰਿਆ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ॥੨॥
un kee saran parai so tari-aa satsang pooran aasaa. ||2||
Those who seek their Sanctuary are carried across; in the Society of the Saints, their hopes are fulfilled. ||2||
The person who seeks their refuge swims across (the worldly ocean of vices and attachments), and all the wishes of such a person are fulfilled in the company of saints.||2||
اُن کی سرݨِ پرےَ سۄ ترِیا سنّتسنّگِ پۄُرن آسا ॥2॥
جو لوگ ان کی پناہ گاہ کو ڈھونڈتے ہیں وہ پار ہوجاتے ہیں۔ سنتوں کی سوسائٹی میں ، ان کی امیدیں پوری ہوتی ہیں
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਚਰਣਿ ਪਰਉ ਤਾ ਜੀਵਾ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥
taa kai charan para-o taa jeevaa jan kai sang nihaalaa.
If I fall at their Feet, then I live; associating with those humble beings, I remain happy.
It is only if I go and bow at their feet (humbly accept the message), that I feel spriritually escatcy, and blessed in the company of God’s devotees.
تا کےَ چرݨِ پرءُ تا جیِوا جن کےَ سنّگِ نِہالا ॥
اگر میں ان کے پیروں پر گروں تو میں زندہ ہوں؛ ان عاجز انسانوں کے ساتھ صحبت کر کے ، میں خوش رہتا ہوں
ਭਗਤਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਹੋਇ ਮਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੋਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ॥੩॥
bhagtan kee rayn ho-ay man mayraa hohu parabhoo kirpaalaa. ||3||
O God, please be merciful to me, that my mind might become the dust of the feet of Your devotees. ||3||
O’ God, please show mercy on me so that my mind may humbly seek the service of Your devotees.||3||
بھگتن کی ریݨُ ہۄءِ منُ میرا ہۄہُ پ٘ربھۄُ کِرپالا ॥3॥
اے خدا ، مجھ پر مہربانی فرما ، کہ میرا دماغ تیرے عقیدت مندوں کے پیروں کی خاک بن جائے
ਰਾਜੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਅਵਧ ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਘਾਟਿਆ ॥
raaj joban avaDh jo deesai sabh kichh jug meh ghaati-aa.
Power and authority, youth and age – whatever is seen in this world, all of it shall fade away.
راجُ جۄبنُ اودھ جۄ دیِسےَ سبھُ کِچھُ جُگ مہِ گھاٹِیا ॥
طاقت اور اختیار ، جوانی اور عمر – جو کچھ بھی اس دنیا میں دیکھا جاتا ہے ، وہ سب ختم ہوجائے گا۔
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਸਦ ਨਵਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟਿਆ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੧੩੧॥
naam niDhaan sad navtan nirmal ih naanak har Dhan khaati-aa. ||4||10||131||
The treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is forever new and immaculate. Nanak has earned this wealth of the Lord. ||4||10||131||

The message of this shabad is that instead of running after worldly wealth and power, which would soon vanish, we should concentrate on earning the wealth of Naam, which will provide us permanent peace and bliss. The holder of this Naam treasure will be santified.For that we should seek and act on the advice of the saint Guru (Granth Sahib Ji).
نامُ نِدھانُ سد نوتنُ نِرملُ اِہُ نانک ہرِ دھنُ کھاٹِیا ॥4॥ 10 ॥ 131 ॥
نام کا خزانہ ، رب کا نام ، ہمیشہ کے لئے نیا اور تقویت بخش ہے۔ نانک نے رب کی یہ دولت کمائی ہے۔
