ਰਾਗਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਸ੍ਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
raagaa vich sareeraag hai jay sach Dharay pi-aar.
Among the ragas, Siree Raag is the supreme, if it inspires one to enshrine love for the Eternal God,
Kati ra ragas, Siree Raag ndiyo kuu, iwapo inahamasisha mtu kuweka vizuri upendo kwa Mungu wa Milele,

ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਮਤਿ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
sadaa har sach man vasai nihchal mat apaar.
God comes to dwell forever in the mind, and one’s intellect becomes stable, and one always remains in tune with the limitless God.
Mungu anakuja kuishi milele akilini, na kufikiri kwa mtu kunakuwa thabiti, na mtu daima anabaki katika usawazishaji na Mungu asiye na kikomo.

ਰਤਨੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
ratan amolak paa-i-aa gur kaa sabad beechaar.
The precious Naam is obtained, by reflecting on the the Guru’s word.
Naam yenye thamana inapatwa, kwa kutafakari kuhusu neno la Guru.

ਜਿਹਵਾ ਸਚੀ ਮਨੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਚਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਅਕਾਰੁ ॥
jihvaa sachee man sachaa sachaa sareer akaar.
Then one’s words, mind and body are rendered Pure and human life becomes worthwhile.
Kisha maneno ya mtu, akili na mwili zinafanywa safi na maisha ya kibinadamu yanakuwa yenye thamani.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
naanak sachai satgur sayvi-ai sadaa sach vaapaar. ||1||
O’ Nanak, forever truthful is the living of those who follow the Guru’s teachings.
Ee Nanak, kuishi kwa wale wanaofuata mafundisho ya Guru ni ya kweli milele.

ਮਃ ੩ ॥
mehlaa 3.

ਹੋਰੁ ਬਿਰਹਾ ਸਭ ਧਾਤੁ ਹੈ ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
hor birhaa sabh Dhaat hai jab lag saahib pareet na ho-ay.
All other kind of love is transient until one is imbued with the love for the Master.
Aina nyingine yote ya upendo ni ya muda mfupi hadi mtu anapojawa na upendo wa Bwana.

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਵੇਖਣੁ ਸੁਨਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
ih man maa-i-aa mohi-aa vaykhan sunan na ho-ay.
Being enticed by Maya, this mind cannot realize God.
Ikivutiwa na Maya, akili hii haiwezi kugundua Mungu.

ਸਹ ਦੇਖੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਊਪਜੈ ਅੰਧਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
sah daykhay bin pareet na oopjai anDhaa ki-aa karay-i.
Without beholding (realizing) the Master (God), love does not well up, so what can the spiritually blind mind do?
Bila kutazama (kugundua) Bwana (Mungu), upendo haujai, sasa ni kipi ambacho akili kipofu wa kiroho anaweza kufanya?

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਅਖੀ ਲੀਤੀਆ ਸੋਈ ਸਚਾ ਦੇਇ ॥੨॥
naanak jin akhee leetee-aa so-ee sachaa day-ay. ||2||
O Nanak, the True One who has taken away the eyes of spiritual wisdom-He alone can restore the spiritual eyes.
Ee Nanak, yule Mmoja wa kweli ambaye aneondoa macho ya hekimaya kiroho-Yeye mwenyewe anaweza kurejesha macho ya kiroho.

ਪਉੜੀ ॥
pa-orhee.
Pauree:

ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਕਰਤਾ ਇਕੁ ਇਕੋ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਹਰਿ ॥
har iko kartaa ik iko deebaan har.
God alone is the One Creator and there is only one court of that sole Judge.
Mungu mwenyewe ni Muumba Mmoja na kuna mahakama moja tu ya hakimu huyo mmoja.

ਹਰਿ ਇਕਸੈ ਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਮਰੁ ਇਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਧਰਿ ॥
har iksai daa hai amar iko har chit Dhar.
Only the command of That one Creator controls the universe. Therefore, enshrine that one God in your mind.
Ni amri pekee ya Muumba Mmoja inadhibiti ulimwengu. Hivyo basi, weka vizuri huyo Mungu Mmoja akilini mwako.

ਹਰਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ਡਰੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
har tis bin ko-ee naahi dar bharam bha-o door kar.
Besides God there is no other (Supreme Power) at all.Therefore remove any other fear, doubt and illusion from your mind.
Pasi na Mungu hakuna mwengine (Nguvu Kuu) hata mmoja. Hivyo basi uoga wengine wowote, shaka na ndoto kutoka akili yako.

ਹਰਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਨੋ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਜਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਰਖੈ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਘਰਿ ॥
har tisai no saalaahi je tuDh rakhai baahar ghar.
Praise only that God who protects you every where.
Sifu pekee Mungu huyo anayekulinda kila mahali.

ਹਰਿ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਭਉ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਤਰਿ ॥੧॥
har jis no ho-ay da-i-aal so har jap bha-o bikham tar. ||1||
Upon whom God becomes gracious, he swims across the difficult world-ocean of fear by remembering Him with loving devotion.
Kwa yule ambaye Mungu anaonesha neema, anaogelea akivuka bahari-dunia hatari ya uoga kwa kumkumbuka Mungu kwa kujitolea kwa upendo.

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੧ ॥

Shalok, na Guru wa kwanza:

ਦਾਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੰਦੀਆ ਕਿਆ ਚਲੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
daatee saahib sandee-aa ki-aa chalai tis naal.
All the gifts are given by our Master (God), no one can argue with Him.
Tuzo zote zinazopewa na Bwana wetu (Mungu), hakuna mtu anaweza kugombezana naye.

ਇਕ ਜਾਗੰਦੇ ਨਾ ਲਹੰਨਿ ਇਕਨਾ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਦੇਇ ਉਠਾਲਿ ॥੧॥
ik jaaganday naa lahann iknaa suti-aa day-ay uthaal. ||1||
Some even when awake (performing all kind of rituals) may not receive these gifts, while others are awakened by God Himself to be blessed.
Wengine hata wakati wameamka (kutenda aina zote za mila) wanaweza kosa kupokea tuzo hizi, wakati wengine wanaamshwa na Mungu mwenyewe kubarikiwa.

ਮਃ ੧ ॥

Shalok by the First Guru:
Shalok na Guru wa kwanza:

ਸਿਦਕੁ ਸਬੂਰੀ ਸਾਦਿਕਾ ਸਬਰੁ ਤੋਸਾ ਮਲਾਇਕਾਂ ॥
sidak sabooree saadikaa sabar tosaa malaa-ikaaN.
Faith, contentment and tolerance are the provisions of the angels.
Imani, kutoshelezwa na uvumilivu ni malimbikizo ya malaika.

ਦੀਦਾਰੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਪਾਇਸਾ ਥਾਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਖਾਇਕਾ ॥੨॥
deedaar pooray paa-isaa thaa-o naahee khaa-ikaa. ||2||
The Guru’s followers realize God; while those who only talk, find no place in God’s court.
Wafuasi wa Guru wanagundua Mungu; wakati wale wanaozungumza tu, hawapati nafasi katika mahakama ya Mungu.

ਪਉੜੀ ॥
pa-orhee.
Pauree:

ਸਭ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਆਪਿ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਈ ॥
sabh aapay tuDh upaa-ay kai aap kaarai laa-ee.
You Yourself created all; You Yourself delegate the tasks.
Wewe mwenyewe uliumba yote; Wewe mwenyewe unakabidhi kazi.

ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
tooN aapay vaykh vigsadaa aapnee vadi-aa-ee.
You Yourself are pleased, beholding Your Own Glorious Greatness.
Wewe mwenyewe umefurahishwa, ukitazama Ukuu wako Tukufu.

ਹਰਿ ਤੁਧਹੁ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਈ ॥
har tuDhhu baahar kichh naahee tooN sachaa saa-ee.
O’ God, there is nothing at all beyond You. You are the True Master.
Ee Mungu, hakuna kitu hata kidogo ambacho kinakuzidi. Wewe ndiwe Bwana wa kweli.

ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਭਨੀ ਹੀ ਥਾਈ ॥
tooN aapay aap varatdaa sabhnee hee thaa-ee.
You, Yourself are pervading in all places.
Wewe, mwenyewe unaenea pahali pote.

ਹਰਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਹੁ ਜੋ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਈ ॥੨॥
har tisai Dhi-aavahu sant janhu jo la-ay chhadaa-ee. ||2||
O’ Saints, lovingly remember God; He shall save you from the vices.
Ee Watakatifu, kumbukeni Mungu kwa upendo; Yeye atawaokoa kutoka dhambi.

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੧ ॥

Shalok, na Guru wa kwanza:

ਫਕੜ ਜਾਤੀ ਫਕੜੁ ਨਾਉ ॥
fakarh jaatee fakarh naa-o.
Pride in social status is empty; pride in personal glory is useless,
Fahari katika hadhi ya kijamii ni tupu; fahari katika utukufu binafsi ni bure,

ਸਭਨਾ ਜੀਆ ਇਕਾ ਛਾਉ ॥
sabhnaa jee-aa ikaa chhaa-o.
because all human beings are under protection of the same One God.
Kwa sababu binadamu wote wamo chini ya ulinzi wa Mungu Mmoja sawa.

ਆਪਹੁ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਭਲਾ ਕਹਾਏ ॥
aaphu jay ko bhalaa kahaa-ay.
if someone presents oneself as virtuous, (that person does not become great)
Iwapo mtu ajiwasilishe kama mwema, (mtu huyo hakuwi mkuu)

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਪਰੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਜਾ ਪਤਿ ਲੇਖੈ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
naanak taa par jaapai jaa pat laykhai paa-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, this will only be known when one’sclaim is honored in God’s Court.
Ee Nanak, hii itajulikana tu wakati dai la mtu linaheshimiwa katika mahakama ya Mungu.

ਮਃ ੨ ॥
mehlaa 2.
Salok, by the Second Guru:
Salok, na Guru wa pili:

ਜਿਸੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਮਰਿ ਚਲੀਐ ॥
jis pi-aaray si-o nayhu tis aagai mar chalee-ai.
I rather die before being separated from the dear one (the Guru), whom I love,
Afadhali nife kabla nitenganishwe kutoka yule mpendwa (Guru), ninayempenda.

ਜਿਸੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਮਰਿ ਚਲੀਐ ॥
jis pi-aaray si-o nayhu tis aagai mar chalee-ai.

Dharig jeevan sansaar taa kai paachhai jeevnaa. ||2|| |
to live in separation is to live a worthless life in this world.
Kuishi katika utengano ni kuishi maisha bure duniani humu.

ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pauree:

ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਸਾਜੀਐ ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਦੁਇ ਦੀਵੇ ॥
tuDh aapay Dhartee saajee-ai chand sooraj du-ay deevay.
You Yourself created the earth, the sun and the moon like two lamps.
Wewe mwenyewe uliumba dunia, jua na mwezi kama taa mbili.

ਦਸ ਚਾਰਿ ਹਟ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ਕਰੀਵੇ ॥
das chaar hat tuDh saaji-aa vaapaar kareevay.
You have established fourteen worlds (markets), in which the mortals conduct their business of life.
Umeanzisha dunia kumi na nne (soko), ambazo ndani mwao binadamu wanafanya biashara yao ya maisha.

ਇਕਨਾ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਭੁ ਦੇਇ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਥੀਵੇ ॥
iknaa no har laabh day-ay jo gurmukh theevay.
Some who become Guru’s followers, God blesses them with wealth of Naam.
Wengine wanaokuwa wafuasi wa Guru, Mungu anawabariki kwa utajiri wa Naam.

ਤਿਨ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪਈ ਜਿਨ ਸਚੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੇ ॥
tin jamkaal na vi-aapa-ee jin sach amrit peevay.
Those who relish the Nectar of Naam are not afflicted with the fear of death.
Wale wanaofurahia Nekta ya Naam hawaathiriwi na uoga wa kifo.

ਓਇ ਆਪਿ ਛੁਟੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਿਉ ਤਿਨ ਪਿਛੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਛੁਟੀਵੇ ॥੩॥
o-ay aap chhutay parvaar si-o tin pichhai sabh jagat chhuteevay. ||3||
They themselves are saved, along with their family, and all those who follow their guidance are saved as well.
Wao wenyewe wanakombolewa, pamoja na familia yao, na wote wanaofuata mwongozo wao wanakombolewa pia.

ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥
kudrat kar kai vasi-aa so-ay.
After having created the universe, the Creator Himself dwells in it.
Baada ya kuumba ulimwengu, Muumba mwenyewe anaishi ndani mwake.
