ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧੇ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੈ ॥੨॥
deen da-i-aal kirpaa niDhay saas saas samHaarai. ||2||
The merciful God to the meek, the treasure of mercy, He remembers and protects us with each and every breath. ||2||
Mungu mwenye huruma kwa wapole, hazina ya huruma, Yeye anatukumbuka na kutulinda kwa kila pumzi tunayopumua.
ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਜੋ ਕਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਾਈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
karanhaar jo kar rahi-aa saa-ee vadi-aa-ee.
Whatever the creator God is doing, in that lies His glory.
Chochote ambacho muumba Mungu anafanya, katika hicho kuna utukufu wake.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਖਸਮ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
gur poorai updaysi-aa sukh khasam rajaa-ee. ||3||
The perfect Guru has imparted this teaching that celestial peace lies incheerfully accepting the will of the Master-God. ||3||
Guru wa kweli amefunza funzo hili kwamba amani ya kimbingu ipo katika kukubali kwa furaha mapenzi ya Bwana-Mungu.
ਚਿੰਤ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਗਣਤ ਤਜਿ ਜਨਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
chint andaysaa ganat taj jan hukam pachhaataa.
Dismissing all anxieties, worries and calculations, God’s devotee has recognized His command.
Akiacha mahangaiko yote, wasiwasi na hesabu, mtawa wa Mungu ametambua amri ya Mun gu.
ਨਹ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਨਹ ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਇ ਨਾਨਕ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੪੮॥
nah binsai nah chhod jaa-ay naanak rang raataa. ||4||18||48||
O’ Nanak, God neither perishes nor abandons His devotee; God’s devotee always remains imbued with His love. ||4||18||48||
Ee Nanak, Mungu haangamizi wala kuacha mtawa wake; mtawa wa Mungu daima anasalia amepenyezwa na upendo wa Mungu.

ਮਹਾ ਤਪਤਿ ਤੇ ਭਈ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਪਰਸਤ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਠੇ ॥
mahaa tapat tay bha-ee saaNt parsat paap naathay.
Upon following the Guru’s teachings, all my sins vanished and the utmost anguish of vices turned into celestial peace in my mind.
Punde tu nilipofuata mafundisho ya Guru, dhambi zangu zote zilipotea na uchungu mkali wa maovu ulibadilika kuwa amani ya kimbingu akilini mwangu.
ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਮਹਿ ਗਲਤ ਥੇ ਕਾਢੇ ਦੇ ਹਾਥੇ ॥੧॥
anDh koop meh galat thay kaadhay day haathay. ||1||
Due to ignorance, I was rotting in the deep dark pit of vices; extending his support, the Guru pulled me out of it. ||1||
Kutokana na ujinga, nilikuwa ninaoza katika shimo lenye giza na kina la maovu; akinyoosha tegemezo yake, Guru ananivuta nje ya shimo hilo.
ਓਇ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਸਾਜਨਾ ਹਮ ਉਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਨ ॥
o-ay hamaaray saajnaa ham un kee rayn.
O’ my friends, that Guru is my true friend and I have the utmost respect for him, as if I am the dust of his feet,
Ee marafiki wangu, Guru huyo ni rafiki wangu wa kweli na nina heshima kuu kwake, kana kwamba mimi ni mchanga wa miguu yake.
ਜਿਨ ਭੇਟਤ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੁਖੀ ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jin bhaytat hovat sukhee jee-a daan dayn. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and meeting whom I am at peace; he gives me the gift of spiritual life. ||1|| Pause||
na ambaye kwa kukutana naye nimo katika amani; yeye ananipa thawabu ya maisha ya kiroho. ||1||Sitisha||
ਪਰਾ ਪੂਰਬਲਾ ਲੀਖਿਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਅਬ ਆਇ ॥
paraa poorbalaa leekhi-aa mili-aa ab aa-ay.
I have now achieved my preordained destiny.
Sasa nimetimiza hatima yangu iliyoagiziwa mapema.
ਬਸਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾਇ ॥੨॥
basat sang har saaDh kai pooran aasaa-ay. ||2||
By residing in the company of God’s saints, all my hopes have been fulfilled.
Kwa kuishi katika uandamano wa watakatifu wa Mungu, matumaini yangu yote yametimizwa.||2||
ਭੈ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਕ ਕੇ ਪਾਏ ਸੁਖ ਥਾਨ ॥
bhai binsay tihu lok kay paa-ay sukh thaan.
I have joined the holy congregation, a place of celestial peace, and the fears which scare the entire world, have vanished.
Nimeungana na ushirika mtakatifu, mahali pa amani ya kimbingu, na hofu zinazotisha dunia nzima, zimepotea.
ਦਇਆ ਕਰੀ ਸਮਰਥ ਗੁਰਿ ਬਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮ ॥੩॥
da-i-aa karee samrath gur basi-aa man naam. ||3||
The all-powerful Guru has bestowed mercy upon me and Naam is enshrined in my mind. ||3||
Guru mwenye nguvu zote ametawaza huruma kwangu na Naam imethaminiwa akilini mwangu.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਤੂ ਟੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰ ॥
naanak kee too tayk parabh tayraa aaDhaar.
O’ God! You are the anchor and support of Nanak.
Ee Mungu! Wewe ndiwe nanga na tegemezo ya Nanak.
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੪॥੧੯॥੪੯॥
karan kaaran samrath parabh har agam apaar. ||4||19||49||
O’ God, the creator of the universe! You are all-powerful, incomprehensible and infinite. ||4||19||49||
Ee Mungu, muumba wa ulimwengu! Wewe una nguvu zote, huwezi kueleweka na huna mwisho.

ਸੋਈ ਮਲੀਨੁ ਦੀਨੁ ਹੀਨੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਿਸਰਾਨਾ ॥
so-ee maleen deen heen jis parabh bisraanaa.
The person who forgets God is filthy, helpless and of low character.
Mtu anayemsahau Mungu ni mchafu, mnyonge na wa silika ya chini.
ਕਰਨੈਹਾਰੁ ਨ ਬੂਝਈ ਆਪੁ ਗਨੈ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
karnaihaar na boojh-ee aap ganai bigaanaa. ||1||
Such a fool considers himself as very wise and does not recognize the Creator-God. ||1||
Mpumbavu kama huyo anajifikiria kuwa mwenye hekima mno na hatambui Muumba-Mungu.
ਦੂਖੁ ਤਦੇ ਜਦਿ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਏ ॥
dookh taday jad veesrai sukh parabh chit aa-ay.
One becomes miserable only when he forsakes God, and always remains blissful by remembering God.
Mtu anaataabika tu wakati anamuacha Mungu, na daima anabaki mwenye raha tele kwa kumkumbuka Mungu.
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਏਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
santan kai aanand ayhu nit har gun gaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
There is always bliss in the minds of the saints, because every day they continually sing God’s praises. ||1||Pause||
Daima kuna raha tele katika akili za watakatifu, kwa sababu kila siku wanaimba sifa za Mungu bila mwisho. ||1||Sitisha||
ਊਚੇ ਤੇ ਨੀਚਾ ਕਰੈ ਨੀਚ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪੈ ॥
oochay tay neechaa karai neech khin meh thaapai.
God can reduce the status of a person from the highest to the lowest, and elevate it from the lowest to the highest in an instant.
Mungu anaweza kupunguza hadhi ya mtu kutoka ya juu kabisa hadi ya chini kabisa, na kumkweza kutoka ya chini kabisa hadi ya juu kabisa papo hapo.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪਰਤਾਪੈ ॥੨॥
keemat kahee na jaa-ee-ai thaakur partaapai. ||2||
The worth of God’s magnificence cannot be estimated. ||2||
Thamani ya fahari ya Mungu haiwezi kukadiriwa.
ਪੇਖਤ ਲੀਲਾ ਰੰਗ ਰੂਪ ਚਲਨੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਆਇਆ ॥
paykhat leelaa rang roop chalnai din aa-i-aa.
While being indulged in the worldly plays and their false pleasures, one’s time of departure from this world dawns.
Wakati amejihusisha katika michezo ya kidunia na raha yao ya uongo, wakati wa mtu wa kuondoka kutoka dunia hii unawadia,
ਸੁਪਨੇ ਕਾ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਭਇਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਲਿਆ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
supnay kaa supnaa bha-i-aa sang chali-aa kamaa-i-aa. ||3||
These false pleasures end like a dream, and only the virtues and sins earned in one’s life accompany him in the end. ||3||
Raha hizi za uongo zinakwisha kama ndoto, na ni fadhila na dhambi tu ambazo mtu anapata maishani zinazoandamana naye mwishowe.
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
karan kaaran samrath parabh tayree sarnaa-ee.
O’ God, the all powerful Creator of the universe, Your devotee seeks Your refuge.
Ee Mungu, Muumba wa ulimwengu mwenye nguvu zote, mtawa wako anatafuta kimbilio chako.
ਹਰਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਪੈ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੪॥੨੦॥੫੦॥
har dinas rain naanak japai sad sad bal jaa-ee. ||4||20||50||
O’ God, Nanak meditates on Your Name day and night, and is always dedicated to You. ||4||20||50||
Ee Mungu, Nanak anatafakari kuhusu Jina lako mchana na usiku, na daima amewekwa wakfu kwako.

ਜਲੁ ਢੋਵਉ ਇਹ ਸੀਸ ਕਰਿ ਕਰ ਪਗ ਪਖਲਾਵਉ ॥
jal dhova-o ih sees kar kar pag pakhlaava-o.
I yearn to perform humble services for the Guru, such as carrying a pitcher ofwater on my head and washing his feet with my hands.
Natamani kufanyia Guru huduma nyenyekevu, kama vile kubeba mtungi wa maji kichwani pangu na kuosha miguu yake kwa mikono yangu.
ਬਾਰਿ ਜਾਉ ਲਖ ਬੇਰੀਆ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾਵਉ ॥੧॥
baar jaa-o lakh bayree-aa daras paykh jeevaava-o. ||1||
I may dedicate myself to the Guru forever and spiritually rejuvenate myself by following his teachings. ||1||
Niweze kujiweka wakfu kwa Gutu milele na kujisisimua kiroho kwa kufuata mafundisho yake.
ਕਰਉ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਮਨੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ਪਾਵਉ ॥
kara-o manorath manai maahi apnay parabh tay paava-o.
I always pray that whatever I desire in my mind, I may get that fulfilled from my God.
Daima ninaomba kwamba chochote ninachotaka akilini mwangu, hicho kiweze kutimizwa kutoka kwa Mungu wangu.
ਦੇਉ ਸੂਹਨੀ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਬੀਜਨੁ ਢੋਲਾਵਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
day-o soohnee saaDh kai beejan dholaava-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I wish to perform various services for the holy people, such as sweeping the floors for their meeting and waving a fan on them. ||1||Pause||
Natamani kufanyia watu watakatifu huduma tofauti, kama vile kufagia sakafu kwa ajili ya mkutano wao na kupunga gani juu yao. ||1||Sitisha||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਤ ਬੋਲਤੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨਹਿ ਪੀਲਾਵਉ ॥
amrit gun sant boltay sun maneh peelaava-o.
The saintly people chant the ambrosial virtues of God; listening to those, I wish to purify my mind.
Watu watakatifu wanaimba fadhila za ambrosia za Mungu; kwa kusikilia hizo, natamani kutakasa akili yangu.
ਉਆ ਰਸ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਖੈ ਜਲਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਵਉ ॥੨॥
u-aa ras meh saaNt taripat ho-ay bikhai jalan bujhaava-o. ||2||
Through those nectar like words of the saints, I may become peaceful and satiated from the undue desires, and I may put off the fire of vices within me. ||2||
Kupitia maneno hayo kama nekta ya watakatifu, naweza kuwa na amani na kutoshelezwa kutoka kwa hamu zisizostahili, na ninaweza kuzima moyo wa maovu ndani mwangu.
ਜਬ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਵਉ ॥
jab bhagat karahi sant mandlee tinH mil har gaava-o.
When the saints perform the devotional worship of God, I wish to join them insinging the praises of God.
Wakati watakatifu wanafanya ibada ya ujitoaji ya Mungu, natamani kujiunga nao katika kuimba sifa za Mungu.
ਕਰਉ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਵਉ ॥੩॥
kara-o namaskaar bhagat jan Dhoor mukh laava-o. ||3||
I wish to bow in reverence to the devotees, and listen and act on their advice, as if I am applying the dust of their feet to my forehead. ||3||
Natamani kusujudu kwa heshima mbele ya watawa, na kusikiliza na kutenda kulingana na ushauri wao, kana kwamba ninapaka mchanga wa miguu yao kwenye paji langu.
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਜਪਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਇਹੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਮਾਵਉ ॥
oothat baithat japa-o naam ih karam kamaava-o.
O’ God! whether sitting or standing, I may keep meditating on Your Name; this is the only deed I wish to perform.
Ee Mungu! Iwapo ninaketi au kusimama, niweze kuendelea kutafakari kuhusu Jina lako; hiki ndicho kitendo cha pekee ninachotaka kutenda.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਮਾਵਉ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੫੧॥
naanak kee parabh bayntee har saran samaava-o. ||4||21||51||
O’ God! this is the prayer of Nanak that I may remain merged in Your refuge. ||4||21||51||
Ee Mungu! Hili ndilo ombi la Nanak kwamba niweze kubaki nimeunganishwa katika kimbilio chako.

ਇਹੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਸੋਈ ਤਰੈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥
ih saagar so-ee tarai jo har gun gaa-ay.
Only the one who sings the praises of God, crosses over this world-ocean of vices.
Ni yule tu anayeimba sifa za Mungu, anayevuka bahari-dunia hii ya dhambi.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਵਸੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
saaDhsangat kai sang vasai vadbhaagee paa-ay. ||1||
But only a rare fortunate person who dwells in the holy congregation, receives this gift (of singing the praises of God). ||1||
Lakini ni mtu nadra peke yake mwenye bahati nzuri anayeishi katika ushirika mtakatifu, anayepokea thawabu hii (ya kuimba sifa za Mungu).
