ਕਲਿਜੁਗੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਪਗ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਖਿਸਕੀਆ ਪਗੁ ਚਉਥਾ ਟਿਕੈ ਟਿਕਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
kalijug har kee-aa pag tarai khiskee-aa pag cha-uthaa tikai tikaa-ay jee-o.
People, within whom the three pillars of faith slipped away (charity, compassion and penance) and their faith left standing only on the fourth pillar (Truth), felt as if God has ushered Kal-yug for them.
Watu, ambao ndani mwao nguzo tatu za imani zimepotea (hisani, ukarimu na toba) na imani yao imeachwa ikisimama kwa nguzo ya nne (Ukweli), walihisi kana kwamba Mungu amekaribisha Kal-Yug kwao.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਪਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
gur sabad kamaa-i-aa a-ukhaDh har paa-i-aa har keerat har saaNt paa-ay jee-o.
But those who followed the Guru’s teachings, obtained the medicine of God’s Name; they attained the celestial peace by singing the praises of God.
Lakini wale waliofuata mafundisho ya Guru, walipata dawa ya Jina la Mungu; walipata amani ya kimbingu kwa kuimba sifa za Mungu.

ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਰੁਤਿ ਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਖੇਤੁ ਜਮਾਇਆ ॥
har keerat rut aa-ee har naam vadaa-ee har har naam khayt jamaa-i-aa.
They come to understand that human life is for singing God’s praises and it is God’s Name that bestows honor; therefore they sow the seed of Naam in their heart
Wanakuja kuelewa kwamba maisha ya binadamu ni ya kuimba sifa za Mungu na ni Jina la Mungu linalotawaza staha; hivyo basi wanapanda mbegu ya Naam moyoni mwao

ਕਲਿਜੁਗਿ ਬੀਜੁ ਬੀਜੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਮੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
kalijug beej beejay bin naavai sabh laahaa mool gavaa-i-aa.
One who plants any seed other than Naam (indulges in any sort of rituals) is living in Kalyug and loses both the profit and the capital of Naam.
Yule anayepanda mbegu yoyote isipokuwa Naam (kujishughulisha katika aina yoyote ya mila) anaishi katika Kalyug na anapoteza faida na rasilimali ya Naam.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਖਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
jan naanak gur pooraa paa-i-aa man hirdai naam lakhaa-ay jee-o.
The devotee Nanak has found the Perfect Guru, who has revealed Naam within his heart and mind.
Mtawa Nanak amepata Guru Kamili, ambaye amedhihirisha Naam ndani mwa moto na akili yake.

ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥
har keerat man bhaa-ee param gat paa-ee har man tan meeth lagaan jee-o.
One, whose mind becomes pleased with God’s praises and God seems sweet to whose mind and heart, attains the supreme spiritual status.
Yule, ambaye akili yake inapendezwa na sifa za Mungu na Mungu anaonekana mtamu kwa akili na moyo wake, anapata hadhi kuu ya kiroho.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har ras paa-i-aa gurmat har Dhi-aa-i-aa Dhur mastak bhaag puraan jee-o.
One who meditates on God through the Guru’s teachings enjoys the elixir of God’s Name and his preordained destiny is fulfilled.
Yule anayetafakari kuhusu Mungu kupitia mafundisho ya Guru anafurahia dawa ya Jina la Mungu na hatima yake inatimizwa.

ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਗੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
Dhur mastak bhaag har naam suhaag har naamai har gun gaa-i-aa.
Because of the preordained destiny, the soul-bride realized her Husband-God by attuning her mind to God; attuned to God’s Name she continually sings God’s praises
Kwa sababu ya hatima iliyoagiziwa mapema, roho-bi harusi aligundua Mume-Mungu wake kwa kumakinisha akili yake kwa Mungu; kwa kumakinikia Jina la Mungu anaimba sifa za Mungu mara kwa mara.

ਮਸਤਕਿ ਮਣੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਹਾਇਆ ॥
mastak manee pareet baho pargatee har naamai har sohaa-i-aa.
Imbued with God’s love she looks divinely beautiful, as if a jewel of God’s Name sparkles on her forehead.
Akipenyezwa na upendo wa Mungu anaonekana mwenye uzuri mtakatifu, kana kwamba kito cha Jina la Mungu kinametameta kwenye paji lake.

ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਨੂਆ ਮਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥
jotee jot milee parabh paa-i-aa mil satgur manoo-aa maan jee-o.
Upon meeting the true Guru, her mind becomes convinced about remembering God; she realizes God and her soul unites with the Prime soul.
Baada ya kukutana na Guru wa kweli, akili yake inashawishiwa kuhusu kumkumbuka Mungu; anagundua Mungu na roho yake inaungana na roho Kuu.

ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
har keerat man bhaa-ee param gat paa-ee har man tan meeth lagaan jee-o. ||1||
One, whose mind becomes pleased with God’s praises and to whose mind and body God seems sweet, attains the supreme spiritual status. ||1||
Yule, ambaye akili yake inapendezwa na sifa za Mungu na ambaye kwa akili na mwili wake Mungu anaonekana kuwa mtamu, anafikia hadhi kuu ya kiroho.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਊਤਮ ਜਨ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har jas gaa-i-aa param pad paa-i-aa tay ootam jan parDhaan jee-o.
Those who sing God’s praises obtain the supreme spiritual status and are considered as the most distinguished persons in the world.
Wale wanaoimba sifa za Mungu wanapata hadhi kuu ya kiroho na wanafikiriwa kuwa watu mashuhuri kabisa duniani.

ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹਮ ਚਰਣ ਸਰੇਵਹ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਗ ਧੋਵਹ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥
tinH ham charan sarayveh khin khin pag Dhovah jin har meeth lagaan jee-o.
I would like to most humbly serve those whom God seems so pleasing.
Ningependa kutumikia wale ambao Mungu anaonekana kuwapendeza mno kwa unyenyekevu mno.

ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਇਆ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਗਾ ਰਤੀ ਚਾਰੇ ॥
har meethaa laa-i-aa param sukh paa-i-aa mukh bhaagaa ratee chaaray.
Those, to whom God is so pleasing, enjoy the divine bliss and they look so beautiful, as if the jewel of good fortune is shining on their faces.
Wale, ambao Mungu anawapendeza mno, wanafurahia raha tele takatifu na wanakaa vizuri mno, kana kwamba kito cha bahari nzuri kinang’aa kwenye nyuso zao.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਰੁ ਉਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਕੰਠਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
gurmat har gaa-i-aa har haar ur paa-i-aa har naamaa kanth Dhaaray.
One who follow the Guru’s teachings and sings God’s praises, enshrines Him in the heart like a necklace around the neck and always recites His Name;
Yule anayefuata mafundisho ya Guru na kuimba sifa za Mungu, anamthamini Yeye moyoni kama mkufu shingoni na daima anakariri Jina lake;

ਸਭ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਮਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਸਭੁ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥
sabh ayk darisat samat kar daykhai sabh aatam raam pachhaan jee-o.
he sees everyone with equality and recognize the supreme soul (God) pervading among all.
Yeye anaona kila mtu kwa usawa na anatambua roho kuu (Mungu) akienea kati ya wote.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਊਤਮ ਜਨ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
satsangat man bhaa-ee har rasan rasaa-ee vich sangat har ras ho-ay jee-o.
One whose mind is pleased with the holy congregation, his tongue gets imbued with the elixir of God’s Name because the holy society is perfused with this elixir.
Yule ambaye akili yake imependezwa na ushirika mtakatifu, ulimi wake unapenyezwa na dawa ya Jina la Mungu kwa sababu jamii takatifu imejawa na dawa hii.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਿਗਾਸਿਆ ਬੀਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har aaraaDhi-aa gur sabad vigaasi-aa beejaa avar na ko-ay jee-o.
He meditates on God’s Name with loving devotion, his heart blooms in joy through the Guru’s word and he recognizes no one else except God.
Anatafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu kwa ujitoaji wa upendo, moyo wake unanawiri kwa furaha kupitia neno la Guru na hatambui yeyote mwengine ila Mungu.

ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੋਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੀਆ ਸੋ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
avar na ko-ay har amrit so-ay jin pee-aa so biDh jaanai.
He recognizes none other than God, he always partakes the ambrosial nectar of God’s Name; he alone who has partaken it knows about his spiritual status.
Yeye hatambui yeyote ila Mungu, daima anashiriki nekta ya ambrosia ya Jina la Mungu; yule pekee ambaye ameishiriki anajua kuhusu hadhi yake ya kiroho.

ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਪੂਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਲਗਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
Dhan Dhan guroo pooraa parabh paa-i-aa lag sangat naam pachhaanai.
He recognizes the worth of Naam by joining the congregation of the Guru; he always thanks the perfect Guru through whom he has realized God.
Anatambua thamani ya Naam kwa kujiunga na ushirika wa Guru; daima anashukuru Guru kamili ambaye kupitia kwake amegundua Mungu.

ਨਾਮੋ ਸੇਵਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਆਰਾਧੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
naamo sayv naamo aaraaDhai bin naamai avar na ko-ay jee-o.
He always meditates and contemplates only on Naam; except for God’s Name, nothing else is pleasing to him.
Daima anatafakari na kuwaza kwa makini kuhusu Naam tu; isipokuwa Jina la Mungu, hakuna kitu kingine kinachompendeza.

ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਪਾਖਣ ਹਮ ਤਾਰਹੁ ਕਢਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
har da-i-aa parabh Dhaarahu paakhan ham taarahu kadh layvhu sabad subhaa-ay jee-o.
O’ God, show mercy and help the stone hearted sinners like us to cross the dreadful world-ocean of vices; please pull us out of the swamp of emotional attachments by uniting us with the Guru’s loving words.
Ee Mungu, tuonee huruma na usaidie watenda dhambi wenye mioyo migumu kama sisi kuvuka bahari-dunia ya dhambi inayotisha; tafadhali tuvute kutoka ndani mwa bwawa la viambatisho vya kidunia kwa kutuunganisha na maneno ye upendo ya Guru.

ਮੋਹ ਚੀਕੜਿ ਫਾਥੇ ਨਿਘਰਤ ਹਮ ਜਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਂਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਕਰਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
moh cheekarh faathay nighrat ham jaatay har baaNh parabhoo pakraa-ay jee-o.
O’ God, please help us out because we are stuck in the swamp of emotional attachments and we are spiritually deteriorating fast.
Ee Mungu, tafadhali tusaidie kwa sababu tumekwama katika bwawa la viambatisho vya kidunia na tunadhoofika kiroho upesi mno.

ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਬਾਂਹ ਪਕਰਾਈ ਊਤਮ ਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਜਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
parabh baaNh pakraa-ee ootam mat paa-ee gur charnee jan laagaa.
The devotee to whom God extended His support, attained the sublime wisdom and sought the Guru’s shelter.
Mtawa ambaye Mungu amenyoosha tegemezo yake kwake, alipata hekima ya kiroho na kutafuta kificho cha Guru.
