ਖੋਟੇ ਖਰੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
khotay kharay tuDh aap upaa-ay.
O’God, you yourself have created both the evil and the virtuous people.
Ee Mungu, wewe mwenyewe umeumba watu waovu na watu wema.
ਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਪਰਖੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਬਾਏ ॥
tuDh aapay parkhay lok sabaa-ay.
You Yourself assess the deeds of all people.
Wewe mwenyewe unatathmini vitendo vya kila mtu.
ਖਰੇ ਪਰਖਿ ਖਜਾਨੈ ਪਾਇਹਿ ਖੋਟੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
kharay parakh khajaanai paa-ihi khotay bharam bhulaavani-aa. ||6||
Those found virtuous are accepted and united with You, the false ones remain lost in delusion.||6||
Wale wanaopatikana kuwa wema wanakubalika na kuunganishwa nawe, wale waongo wanabaki wamepotea katika udanganyifu. ||6||
ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਾ ਕਿਉ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥
ki-o kar vaykhaa ki-o saalaahee.
O’ God, how can I behold You? How can I praise You?
Ee Mungu, ninawezaje kukutazama? Ninawezaje kukusifu Wewe?
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ॥
gur parsaadee sabad salaahee.
By Guru’s Grace, I praise You through the Word of the Shabad.
Kwa neema ya Guru, nakusifu Wewe kupitia Neno la Shabad.
ਤੇਰੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਸੈ ਤੂੰ ਭਾਣੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
tayray bhaanay vich amrit vasai tooN bhaanai amrit pee-aavni-aa. ||7||
O’God, it is only according to Your Will that the nectar of Your Naam comes to reside in one’s heart, and it is in Your will that You administer Your nectar to anyone.||7||
Ee Mungu, ni kulingana na Mapenzi yako ambapo nekta ya Naam yako inakuja kuishi moyoni mwa mtu, na ni kwa mapenzi yako ambapo unatoa nekta yako kwa yeyote ule.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਬਦੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
amrit sabad amrit har banee.
The holy word of the Guru is the immortalizing nectar and so is the Naam of God.
Neno takatifu la Guru ni nekta yenye uzima wa milele na ndivyo ilivyo Naam ya Mungu.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
satgur sayvi-ai ridai samaanee.
Serving the True Guru, it permeates the heart.
Kwa kutumikia Guru wa kweli, inapenyeza moyoni.
ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੫॥੧੬॥
naanak amrit naam sadaa sukh-daata pee amrit sabh bhukh leh jaavani-aa. ||8||15||16||
O’Nanak,the nectar of naam gives eternal peace. By drinking it, one’s hunger (of worldly desires) is satisfied.||8||15||16||
Ee Nanak, nekta ya Naam inatoa amani ya milele. Kwa kuikunywa, njaa ya mtu (ya hamu za kidunia) inatoshelezwa. ||8||15||16||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
amrit varsai sahj subhaa-ay.
The nectar of Naam comes into one’s heart intuitively.
Nekta ya Naam inakuja moyoni mwa mtu kwa hisia na silika.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
gurmukh virlaa ko-ee jan paa-ay.
However, rare are those Guru’s followers who receive and enjoys this nectar.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀ ਸਦਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੇ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
amrit pee sadaa tariptaasay kar kirpaa tarisnaa bujhaavani-aa. ||1||
Those who drink it are satisfied forever (from worldly things). Showering His mercy, God quenches their thirst of worldly desires.
Wale wanaoikunywa wanaridhishwa milele (kutoka vitu vya kidunia). Akinyunyuzia huruma yake, Mungu anazima kiu chao cha tamaa za kidunia.
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥
ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree gurmukh amrit pee-aavni-aa.
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those Guru’s followers who by Guru’s grace, drink this nectar of Naam.
Mimi ni dhabihu, roho yangu ni dhabihu, kwa wale wafuasi wa Guru ambao kwa neema ya Guru, wanakunywa nekta ya Naam.
ਰਸਨਾ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rasnaa ras chaakh sadaa rahai rang raatee sehjay har gun gaavani-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Tasting thisnectar, their tongue remains imbued with divine love and intuitively keep singing God’s praise.||1||Pause||
Wakionja nekta hii, ulimi wao unabaki umevama katika upendo takatifu na wanaendelea kuimba sifa za Mungu kwa hisia na silika. ||1||Sitisha||
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਹਜੁ ਕੋ ਪਾਏ ॥
gur parsaadee sahj ko paa-ay.
It is only a rare person who by Guru’s Grace attains a state of spiritual poise and balance of mind
Ni mtu nadra pekee ambaye kwa neema ya Guru anapata hali ya utulivu wa kiroho na usawa wa akili.
ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰੇ ਇਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
dubiDhaa maaray ikas si-o liv laa-ay.
This person subdued all senses of duality, fixes the mind only on one God.
Mtu huyu ameshinda hisi zote za uwili, anakazia akili yake kwa Mungu Mmoja tu.
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਦਰੀ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
nadar karay taa har gun gaavai nadree sach samaavani-aa. ||2||
But this happens only when He bestows His glance of grace ,then that person sings God’s praises ;and by His grace ,merge in Truth.||2||
Lakini hii inafanyika tu wakati Yeye anatawaza Mtazamo wake wa neema, kisha mtu huyo anaimba sifa za Mungu; na kwa neema ya Mungu, anaungana katika Ukweli. ||2||
ਸਭਨਾ ਉਪਰਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
sabhnaa upar nadar parabh tayree.
O God,Your glance of grace is over all.
Ee Mungu, mtazamo wako wa neema ni kuu kuliko vyote.
ਕਿਸੈ ਥੋੜੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਹੈ ਘਣੇਰੀ ॥
kisai thorhee kisai hai ghanayree.
On some it may be less, on others, more (just as rain falls equally on all places,but the level fields retain more while slopes retain very less).
Kwa wengine unaweza kuwa kidogo, kwa wengine, zaidi (kama vile mvua unanyesha kwa usawa kila pahali, lakini viwanja tambarare vinahifadhi maji mengi na vile venyen mteremko vinahifadhi kidogo.
ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
tujh tay baahar kichh na hovai gurmukh sojhee paavni-aa. ||3||
It is only the Gurmukhs (Guru’s followers) who understand that nothing happens at all without Your will.||3||
Ni Gurmukhs pekee (wafuasi wa Guru) ambao wanaelewa ya kwamba hakuna kitukinachotendeka hata kidogo bila mapenzi yako.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਤੁ ਹੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
gurmukh tat hai beechaaraa.
The Gurmukhs contemplate the essence of reality;
Wafuasi wa Guru wanatafakari kiini cha uhalisia;
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
amrit bharay tayray bhandaaraa.
That your divine treasures are overflowing with nectar of Naam.
Ya kwamba hazina yako takatifu zinafurika kwa nekta ya Naam.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
bin satgur sayvay ko-ee na paavai gur kirpaa tay paavni-aa. ||4||
Howeve, without serving and following the true Guru, no one receives this nectar. Whosoever receives it, gets it only by Guru’s grace,
Hata hivyo, bila kutumikia na kufuata Guru wa kweli, hakuna mtu anapokea nekta hii. Yeyote anayeipokea, anaipata tu kupitia neema ya Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਹੈ ॥
satgur sayvai so jan sohai.
The person who serve and follow the true Guru becomes beauteous and virtuous.
Mtu anayetumikia na kufuata Guru wa kweli anakuwa mzuri na mwema.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮਿ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹੈ ॥
amrit naam antar man mohai.
Such a person’s inner mind is fascinated with the Nectar of Naam.
Akili ya ndani ya mtu kama huyo inavutiwa na Nekta ya Naam.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਰਤਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
amrit man tan banee rataa amrit sahj sunaavni-aa. ||5||
The person’s body and mind attuned to the Ambrosial Naam and the person intuitively keep hearing the sweet words o Guru’s Naam.||5||
Mwili na akili ya mtu huyo inamakinikia Naam ya Ambrosia na mtu huyo anaendelea kusikiza maneno matamu ya Naam ya Guru kwa hisia na silika.
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਭੂਲਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਏ ॥
manmukh bhoolaa doojai bhaa-ay khu-aa-ay.
A self-willed person goes astray and is ruined due to the love of duality ( the worldly riches instead of God )
Mtu mwenye hiari binafsi anapotoka na kuharibiwa kutokana na upendo wa uwili (utajiri wa kidunia badala ya Mungu)
ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਲੇਵੈ ਮਰੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਏ ॥
naam na layvai marai bikh khaa-ay.
This person does not meditate on God’s Naam and dies while going after false worldly desires.
Mtu huyu hatafakari kuhusu Naam ya Mungu na anakufa akifuata tamaa za kidunia za uongo.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਮਹਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
an-din sadaa vistaa meh vaasaa bin sayvaa janam gavaavni-aa. ||6||
Such a person lives in filth of sinful worldly pleasures day and night and without remembering God, wastes the human birth.||6||
Mtu kama huyo anaishi katika uchafu wa raha za kidunia zenye dhambi mchana na usiku na bila kumkumbuka Mungu, anaharibu kuzaliwa kwa ubinadamu.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਪੀਆਏ ॥
amrit peevai jis no aap pee-aa-ay.
Only that person drinks the nectar of Naam, whom He Himself inspires to do so.
Mtu huyo pekee anakunywa nekta ya Naam, ambaye Yeye mwenyewe anamhamasisha kufanya hivyo.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
gur parsaadee sahj liv laa-ay.
By Guru’s Grace, such a person imperceptibly becomes attuned to God.
Kwa Neema ya Guru, mtu kama huyo anamakinika kwa Mungu kwa njia isiyoonekana.
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਭ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
pooran poor rahi-aa sabh aapay gurmat nadree aavani-aa. ||7||
Then, through the Guru’s teachings, is able to see that the perfect God Himself is pervading everywhere.||7||.
Kisha, kupitia mafundisho ya Guru, anaweza kuona ya kwamba Mungu kamili mwenyewe anaenea kote.
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
aapay aap niranjan so-ee.
The immaculate God is all by Himself.
Mungu safi yupo pekee yake.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਰਜੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਆਪੇ ਗੋਈ ॥
jin sirjee tin aapay go-ee.
He who has created (this universe) shall Himself destroy it.
Yeye ambaye ameumba (ulimwengu huu) mwenyewe atauangamiza.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਸਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੬॥੧੭॥
naanak naam samaal sadaa tooN sehjay sach samaavani-aa. ||8||16||17||
O Nanak, always meditate on God’s Naam, and you will merge into the eternal God with intuitive ease.||8||16||17||
Ee Nanak, daima tafakari kuhusu Naam ya Mungu, na utaungana na Mungu wa milele kwa urahisi wa hisia na silika.

Only those people are attuned to the Truth, who are pleasing to you.
Watu hao pekee ambao wamemakinikia Ukweli, ambao wanapendeza mbele yako.
ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
sadaa sach sayveh sahj subhaa-ay.
They always imperceptibly keep serving the TrueOne ( by meditating on Your eternal Naam).
Daima na kwa utaratibu wanaendelea kutumikia yule Mmoja wa Kweli (kwa kutafakari kuhusu Naam yako ya milele).
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
sachai sabad sachaa saalaahee sachai mayl milaavani-aa. ||1||
Through the True Word of the Guru,They praise the eternal God, and thus they themselves are united and unite others with the eternal God.||1||
Kupitia Neno la Kweli la Guru, wanasifu Mungu wa milele, na hivyo wao wenyewe wanaunganishwa na kuunganisha wengine na Mungu wa milele. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਿਆ ॥
ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree sach salaahni-aa.
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who praise the True One.
Mimi ni dhabihu, roho yangu ni dhabihu, kwa wale wanaosifu yule Mmoja wa Kweli.
ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਸੇ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sach Dhi-aa-in say sach raatay sachay sach samaavani-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Those who meditate on the eternal God are imbued with the love of the eternal God, and they merge in that true and eternal God.||||Pause||
Wale wanaotafakari kuhusu Mungu wa milele wanajawa na upendo kwa Mungu wa milele, wanaungana katika huyo Mungu wa kweli na wa milele. ||||Sitisha||
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥
jah daykhaa sach sabhnee thaa-ee.
Wherever I look, I see that eternal God pervading everywhere.
Popote ninapoangalia, naona Mungu huyo wa milele akienea kote
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
gur parsaadee man vasaa-ee.
By Guru’s Grace, I enshrine Him in my mind.
Kwa Neema ya Guru, ninamthamini akilini mwangu.
ਤਨੁ ਸਚਾ ਰਸਨਾ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਨਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
tan sachaa rasnaa sach raatee sach sun aakh vakhaanni-aa. ||2||
Now my body is filled with Truth, my tongue is imbued with Truth, andI hear and talk only about the eternal God.||2||
Sasa mwili wangu umejawa na Ukweli, ulimi wangu umejawa na Ukweli, na nasikia na kuzungumza tu kuhusu Mungu wa milele.||2||
