ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲੀ ਰੇ ਜੈ ਚੰਦਾ ॥
bharmay bhoolee ray jai chandaa.
O’ my friend Jai Chand, the entire world is gone astray in doubt,
Ee rafiki wangu Ji Chand, dunia nzima imepotoka katika shaka,

ਨਹੀ ਨਹੀ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਆ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nahee nahee cheenHi-aa parmaanandaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and has not recognized God, the source of supreme bliss at all. ||1||Pause||
na haijatambua Mungu, chanzo cha raha tele kuu hata kidogo. ||1||Sitisha||

ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਖਾਇਆ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਬਧਾਇਆ ਖਿੰਥਾ ਮੁੰਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
ghar ghar khaa-i-aa pind baDhaa-i-aa khinthaa munda maa-i-aa.
Even if a person has eaten by begging from door-to-door, nourished his body and for the sake of Maya worn a patched coat and special yogic earrings,
Hata iwapo mtu amekula kwa kuomba kutoka mlango moja hadi mwingine, amelisha mwili wake na kwa ajili ya Maya amevaa koti yenye madoa na vipuli maalum vya yogi.

ਭੂਮਿ ਮਸਾਣ ਕੀ ਭਸਮ ਲਗਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
bhoom masaan kee bhasam lagaa-ee gur bin tat na paa-i-aa. ||2||
and smeared his body with ashes from cremation grounds; but the essence of reality canm not be obtained without the Guru’s teachings. ||2||
na akapaka mwili wake na majivu kutoka kwa nyanja za kuchoma maiti; lakini kiini cha uhalisia hakiwezi kupatwa bila mafundisho ya Guru.

ਕਾਇ ਜਪਹੁ ਰੇ ਕਾਇ ਤਪਹੁ ਰੇ ਕਾਇ ਬਿਲੋਵਹੁ ਪਾਣੀ ॥
kaa-ay japahu ray kaa-ay taphu ray kaa-ay bilovahu paanee.
Why do you do these ritual worships, why do you perform penances, and keep doing these fruitless things, as if churning water?
Kwa nini mnafanya ibada hizi za kimila, kwa nini mnafanya toba, na kuendelea kutanda vitu hivi visivyo na mafanikio, kana kwamba mnasukasuka maji?

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਸੋ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੩॥
lakh cha-oraaseeh jiniH upaa-ee so simrahu nirbaanee. ||3||
O’ my friends, instead remember that desire-free God, who has created this universe with millions of species.||3||
Ee marafiki wangu, badala yake kumbukeni Munguhuyo asiye na hamu, ambaye ameumba ulimwengu huu na mamilioni ya spishi.

ਕਾਇ ਕਮੰਡਲੁ ਕਾਪੜੀਆ ਰੇ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਕਾਇ ਫਿਰਾਹੀ ॥
kaa-ay kamandal kaaprhee-aa ray athsath kaa-ay firaa-ee.
O’ Yogi, wearing patched coat, holding begging bowls in your hands, why are you aimlessly roaming around the so called sixty-eight holy places of pilgrimage?
Ee Yogi, kuvaa koti lenye madoa, kubeba mabakuli ya kuomba mikononi mwako, kwa nini unazurura bila mwelekeo katika paitwavyo pahali sitini na nane pa hija?

ਬਦਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਚਨੁ ਸੁਨੁ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਕਣ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਾਹੁ ਕਿ ਪਾਹੀ ॥੪॥੧॥
badat tarilochan sun ray paraanee kan bin gaahu ke paahee. ||4||1||
Trilochan says, listen O’ mortals, as there is no use of thrashing straw, similarly there is no use of doing outer rituals without remembering God. ||4||1||
Trilochan anasema, sikizeni Ee binadamu, kama vile hakuna manufaa kwa kupiga nyasi, vivyo hivyo hakuna manufaa kwa kufanya mila za kinje bila kumkumbuka Mungu.

One who thinks of material wealth and dies in such thoughts at the last moment,
Yule anayefikiria kuhusu utajiri wa kidunia na kufa katika fikira hizo wakati wa mwisho,

ਸਰਪ ਜੋਨਿ ਵਲਿ ਵਲਿ ਅਉਤਰੈ ॥੧॥
sarap jon val val a-utarai. ||1||
shall be born over and over again, in the form of serpents. ||1||
atazaliwa tena na tena katika umwilisho, katika muundo wa majoka.

ਅਰੀ ਬਾਈ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਤਿ ਬੀਸਰੈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aree baa-ee gobid naam mat beesrai. rahaa-o.
O’ sister, God’s Name may never go out of my mind. ||Pause||
Ee dada, Jina la Mungu kamwe lisiwahi kutoka akilini mwangu. ||Sitisha||

ਅੰਤਿ ਕਾਲਿ ਜੋ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਐਸੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਜੇ ਮਰੈ ॥
ant kaal jo istaree simrai aisee chintaa meh jay marai.
One who thinks of woman and dies in such thoughts at the very last moment,
Yule anayefikiria kuhusu mwanamke na kufa katika fikira kama hizo wakati wa mwisho kabisa,

ਬੇਸਵਾ ਜੋਨਿ ਵਲਿ ਵਲਿ ਅਉਤਰੈ ॥੨॥
baysvaa jon val val a-utarai. ||2||
shall be born over and over again as a prostitute. ||2||
atazaliwa tena na tena kama kahaba.

ਅੰਤਿ ਕਾਲਿ ਜੋ ਲੜਿਕੇ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਐਸੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਜੇ ਮਰੈ ॥
ant kaal jo larhikay simrai aisee chintaa meh jay marai.
One who thinks of children and dies in such thoughts at the last moment
Yule anayefikiria kuhusu watoto na kufa katika fikira kama hizo wakati wa mwisho

ਸੂਕਰ ਜੋਨਿ ਵਲਿ ਵਲਿ ਅਉਤਰੈ ॥੩॥
sookar jon val val a-utarai. ||3||
shall be born over and over again as a pig. ||3||
atazaliwa tena na tena kama nguruwe.

ਅੰਤਿ ਕਾਲਿ ਜੋ ਮੰਦਰ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਐਸੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਜੇ ਮਰੈ ॥
ant kaal jo mandar simrai aisee chintaa meh jay marai.
One who thinks of mansions and dies in such thoughts at the very last moment,
Yule anayefikiria kuhusu majumba na kufa katika fikira kama hizo wakati wa mwisho kabisa,

ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਜੋਨਿ ਵਲਿ ਵਲਿ ਅਉਤਰੈ ॥੪॥
parayt jon val val a-utarai. ||4||
shall be born over and over again as a ghost. ||4||
atazaliwa tena na tena kama kizuka.

ਅੰਤਿ ਕਾਲਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਐਸੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਜੇ ਮਰੈ ॥
ant kaal naaraa-in simrai aisee chintaa meh jay marai.
One who always remembers God and dies thinking of Him at the very last moment,
Yule ambaye daima anamkumbuka Mungu na kufa akimfikiria Yeye wakati wa mwisho kabisa,

ਬਦਤਿ ਤਿਲੋਚਨੁ ਤੇ ਨਰ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਪੀਤੰਬਰੁ ਵਾ ਕੇ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਸੈ ॥੫॥੨॥
badat tilochan tay nar muktaa peetambar vaa kay ridai basai. ||5||2||
Trilochan says, such a person is emancipated, and God comes to abide in that person’s heart. ||5||2||
Trilochan anasema, mtu kama huyo anakombolewa, na Mungu anakuja kuishi katika moyo wa mtu huyo.

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
Mungu Mmoja wa milele, anayegunduliwa kwa neema ya Guru wa kweli:

ਪਰਮਾਦਿ ਪੁਰਖਮਨੋਪਿਮੰ ਸਤਿ ਆਦਿ ਭਾਵ ਰਤੰ ॥
parmaad purakhmanopimaN sat aad bhaav rataN.
That God is the highest power, the root cause of everything and is pervading in all; He is unrivalled and eternal; He is full of virtues and imbued with love.
Mungu huyo ndiye nguvu ya juu zaidi, chanzo cha kimsingi cha kila kitu na anaenea katika vyote; Yeye hana mpinzani na ni wa milele; Yeye amejawa na fadhila na amepenyezwa na upendo.

ਪਰਮਦਭੁਤੰ ਪਰਕ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪਰੰ ਜਦਿਚਿੰਤਿ ਸਰਬ ਗਤੰ ॥੧॥
parmad-bhutaN parkarit paraN jadchint sarab gataN. ||1||
He is astoundingly wonderful and detached from Maya;He is incomprehensible and is pervading everywhere. ||1||
Yeye ni mzuri wa ajabu na amejitenga kutoka kwa Maya; Yeye hawezi kueleweka na anaenea kila mahali.

ਕੇਵਲ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਮਨੋਰਮੰ ॥
kayval raam naam manormaN.
Remember only God’s beautiful Name,
Kumbuka Jina zuri la Mungu pekee,

ਬਦਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਤਤ ਮਇਅੰ ॥
bad amrit tat ma-i-aN.
who is brimful with the ambrosial nectar and is the embodiment of reality.
Ambaye amejawa na nekta ya ambrosia na ndiye udhihirisho wa uhalisia.

ਨ ਦਨੋਤਿ ਜਸਮਰਣੇਨ ਜਨਮ ਜਰਾਧਿ ਮਰਣ ਭਇਅੰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
na danot jasmarnayn janam jaraaDh maran bha-i-aN. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By remembering God’s Name, one is not troubled by the fear of birth, old age and death. ||1||Pause||
Kwa kukumbuka Jina la Mungu, mtu hasumbuliwi na hofu ya kifo, uzee na kifo. ||1||Sitisha||

ਇਛਸਿ ਜਮਾਦਿ ਪਰਾਭਯੰ ਜਸੁ ਸ੍ਵਸਤਿ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਤੰ ॥
ichhas jamaad paraabh-yaN jas savast sukarit kirt-aN.
If you wish to gain victory over the demon of death and desire glory and comfort, then do the sublime deed of singing that God’s praises,
Iwapo unataka kupata ushindi dhidi ya pepo wa kifo na unatamani utukufu na starehe, basi fanya kitendo tukufu cha kuimba sifa za Mungu huyo,

ਭਵ ਭੂਤ ਭਾਵ ਸਮਬ੍ਯ੍ਯਿਅੰ ਪਰਮੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਮਿਦੰ ॥੨॥
bhav bhoot bhaav sam-bi-yam parmaN parsanmidaN. ||2||
who is imperishable now, was so in the past and would remain same in future; and who always remains full of delight and bliss. ||2||
ambaye hawezi kufa wakati huu, alikuwa hivyo hapo awali na atasalia hivyo wakati ujao; na ambaye anabaki amejawa na furaha na raha tele.

ਲੋਭਾਦਿ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੰ ਜਦਿਬਿਧਿ ਆਚਰਣੰ ॥
lobhaad darisat par garihaN jadibiDh aacharnaN.
If you are seeking the path of good conduct, then forsake greed and do not look upon other’s property and women,
Iwapo unatafuta njia ya tabia nzuri, basi acha tamaa na usiangalie mali na wanawake wa wengine,

ਤਜਿ ਸਕਲ ਦੁਹਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੁਰਮਤੀ ਭਜੁ ਚਕ੍ਰਧਰ ਸਰਣੰ ॥੩॥
taj sakal duhkarit durmatee bhaj chakarDhar sarnaN. ||3||
Abandon all evil deeds, renounce evil intellect and seek God’s refuge. ||3||
Acha vitendo vyote viovu, kana uwekevu mbaya na utafute kimbilio cha Mungu.

ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤ ਨਿਜ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲਾ ਰਿਦ ਕਰਮਣਾ ਬਚਸਾ ॥
har bhagat nij nihkayvlaa rid karmanaa bachsaa.
The beloved devotees of God are pure in mind, word, and deed.
Watawa wapendwa wa Mungu ni safi akilini, kwa maneno na vitendo vyao.

ਜੋਗੇਨ ਕਿੰ ਜਗੇਨ ਕਿੰ ਦਾਨੇਨ ਕਿੰ ਤਪਸਾ ॥੪॥
jogayn kiN jagayn kiN daadayn kiN tapsaa. ||4||
They don’t have any concern with yoga and no obligation to the world; they don’t feel any necessity for charity or penance. ||4||
Hawana hangaiko lolote na yoga au wajibu wowote kwa dunia; hawahisi haja yoyote kwa hisani au toba.

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੇਤਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਰ ਸਕਲ ਸਿਧਿ ਪਦੰ ॥
gobind gobindayt jap nar sakal siDh padaN.
O’ mortal, remember God, the master of the universe; He alone is the source of all miraculous powers.
Ee binadamu, kumbuka Mungu, bwana wa ulimwengu; Yeye peke yake ndiye chanzo cha nguvu za kimiujiza.

ਜੈਦੇਵ ਆਇਉ ਤਸ ਸਫੁਟੰ ਭਵ ਭੂਤ ਸਰਬ ਗਤੰ ॥੫॥੧॥
jaidayv aa-i-o tas safutaN bhav bhoot sarab gataN. ||5||1||
Jai Dev has openly come to the refuge of that God, who has been the savior of all in the past and will be the savior of all now and in future. ||5||1||
Kwa uwazi Jai Dev amekuja kwa kimbilio cha Mungu huyo, ambaye amekuwa mwokozi wa wote hapo awali na atakuwa mwokozi wa wote sasa na wakati ujao.
