ਬਾਵਨ ਅਖਰ ਜੋਰੇ ਆਨਿ ॥

Combining these fifty two letters, the world has written many books,
Kwa kuunganisha herufi hizi hamsini na mbili, dunia imeandika vitabu vingi,
ਸਕਿਆ ਨ ਅਖਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਨਿ ॥
saki-aa na akhar ayk pachhaan.
but through these letters the world has not been able to recognize God.
Lakini kupitia herufi hizi dunia haijaweza kutambua Mungu.
ਸਤ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਕਹੈ ॥
sat kaa sabad kabeeraa kahai.
Kabir says, the one who sings the praises of God through these letters,
Kabir anasema, yule anayeimba sifa za Mungu kupitia herufi hizi,
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਅਨਭੈ ਰਹੈ ॥
pandit ho-ay so anbhai rahai.
he alone is the true pundit and is always a knowledge seeker.
Yeye peke yake ni mbukuzi wa kweli na daima mtafuta wa maarifa.
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਲੋਗਹ ਕਉ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥
pandit logah ka-o bi-uhaar.
Talking to people through these letters is the business for professional pundits,
Kuzungumza na watu kupitia herufi hizi ni biashara ya wambukuzi wataalam.
ਗਿਆਨਵੰਤ ਕਉ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
gi-aanvant ka-o tat beechaar.
but for the knowledge seekers, these are the means to reflect on the reality.
Lakini kwa watafuta wa maarifa, hizi ndizo mbinu za kutafakari kuhusu uhalisia.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਜੀਅ ਜੈਸੀ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਾਨੈਗਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੪੫॥
jaa kai jee-a jaisee buDh ho-ee. kahi kabeer jaanaigaa so-ee. ||45||
Kabir says, whatever kind of intellect one has, through these lettrs he understands accordingly. ||45||
Kabir anasema, aina yoyote ya uwekevu ambao mtu anao, kupitia herufi hizi anaelewa vivyo hivyo.

People perform rituals and ceremonies based on the superstitions related to the fifteen lunar and seven days of the week,
Watu wanafanya mila na sherehe kulingana na ushirikina unaohusiana na siku kumi na tano za mwezi na siku saba za wiki,
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਉਰਵਾਰ ਨ ਪਾਰ ॥
kahi kabeer urvaar na paar.
Kabeer says, they neither attain peace nor salvation.
Kabeer anasema, hawawezi kupata amani wala wokovu.
ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਲਖੈ ਜਉ ਭੇਉ ॥
saaDhik siDh lakhai ja-o bhay-o.
When a siddha or a seeker comes to know this mystery,
Wakati siddha au mtafuta anakuja kujua fumbo hili,
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਉ ॥੧॥
aapay kartaa aapay day-o. ||1||
then he realizes that God Himself is the creator and the source of light of these lunar and solar days. ||1||
basi anagundua kwamba Mungu Mwenyewe ndiye muumba na chanzo cha mwanga wa siku hizi na mwezi na za jua.

ਅੰਮਾਵਸ ਮਹਿ ਆਸ ਨਿਵਾਰਹੁ ॥
ammaavas meh aas nivaarahu.
On the moonless night shed your hopes of attaining salvation through the ritualistic deeds.
Usiku usio na mwezi ondoa matumaini yako ya kupata wokovu kupitia vitendo vya kimila.
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰਹੁ ॥
antarjaamee raam samaarahu.
Remember the all pervading God, the knower of hearts.
Kumbuka Mungu anayeenea kote, mjua wa mioyo.
ਜੀਵਤ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰ ॥
jeevat paavhu mokh du-aar.
You would attain liberation from sorrows, vices and doubts while still alive.
Utapata ukombozi kutoka huzuni, maovu na shaka ukiwa bado hai.
ਅਨਭਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਤਤੁ ਨਿਜੁ ਸਾਰ ॥੧॥
anbha-o sabad tat nij saar. ||1||
You would understand the Guru’s word and the reality of your own real-self. |1|
Utaelewa neno la Guru na uhalisia wa nafsi yake mwenyewe.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
charan kamal gobind rang laagaa.
One who is imbued with the love of God’s Name,
Yule ambaye amejawa na upendo wa Jina la Mungu,
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਭਏ ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sant parsaad bha-ay man nirmal har keertan meh an-din jaagaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
by the Guru’s grace his mind becomes pure and he remains alert to the worldly pitfalls by always singing God’s praises.||1||Pause||
kwa neema ya Guru akili yake inakuwa safi na anabaki ametahadhari dhidi ya mitego ya kidunia kwa kuimba sifa za Mungu daima. ||1||Sitisha||
ਪਰਿਵਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
parivaa pareetam karahu beechaar.
On Pariva (the first lunar day) reflect on the virtues of the beloved God,
Katika Pariva (siku ya kwanza ya mwezi) tafakari kuhusu fadhila za Mungu mpendwa,
ਘਟ ਮਹਿ ਖੇਲੈ ਅਘਟ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
ghat meh khaylai aghat apaar.
God Himself has no body-form but is pervading in every heart.
Mungu Mwenyewe hana muundo wowote wa kimwili lakini anaenea katika kila moyo.
ਕਾਲ ਕਲਪਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਖਾਇ ॥
kaal kalpanaa kaday na khaa-ay.
The fear of death never consumes the one,
Uoga wa kifo kamwe haiangamizi yule,
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਮਹਿ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
aad purakh meh rahai samaa-ay. ||2||
who always remains absorbed in God. ||2||
ambaye anabaki amevama kwa Mungu.
ਦੁਤੀਆ ਦੁਹ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਅੰਗ ॥
dutee-aa duh kar jaanai ang.
Dutiya (the second lunar day), one should understand that there are two aspects of the world.
Dutiya (siku ya pili ya mwezi), mtu anafaa kuelewa kwamba kuna vipengele viwili vya dunia.
ਮਾਇਆ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਰਮੈ ਸਭ ਸੰਗ ॥
maa-i-aa barahm ramai sabh sang.
Both Maya and God are pervading side by side.
Maya na Mungu wanaenea sambamba pamoja.
ਨਾ ਓਹੁ ਬਢੈ ਨ ਘਟਤਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
naa oh badhai na ghattaa jaa-ay.
God does not increase or decrease.
Mungu haongezeki wala kupungua.
ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਏਕੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੩॥
akul niranjan aykai bhaa-ay. ||3||
The immaculate God doesn’t belong to any caste or lineage, He remains the same throughout. ||3||
Mungu safi kabisa siye wa tabaka au kizazi chochote, Yeye anabaki sawasawa kila wakati.
ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਆ ਤੀਨੇ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਲਿਆਵੈ ॥
taritee-aa teenay sam kar li-aavai.
Tritya (the third lunar day), a true devotee of God maintains equilibrium between the three impulses of Maya (vice, virtue, and power).
Tritya (siku ya tatu ya mwezi), mtawa wa kweli wa Mungu anadumisha usawa kati ya misukumo mitatu ya Maya (uovu, fadhila na nguvu).
ਆਨਦ ਮੂਲ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
aanad mool param pad paavai.
Such a person attains to the highest state of supreme bliss.
Mtu kama huyo anafikia hali ya juu zaidi ya raha tele kuu.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਬਿਸ੍ਵਾਸ ॥
saaDhsangat upjai bisvaas.
Dwelling in the society of saints, that person comes to believe that,
Akiishi katika jamii ya watakatifu, mtu huyo anakuja kuamini kwamba,
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥੪॥
baahar bheetar sadaa pargaas. ||4||
God’s light is shining both inside and outside the body. ||4||
Mwanga wa Mungu unang’aa ndani na nje ya mwili.
ਚਉਥਹਿ ਚੰਚਲ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਗਹਹੁ ॥
cha-othahi chanchal man ka-o gahhu.
Chaothai (fourth lunar day), restrain your fickle mind,
Chaothai (siku ya nne ya mwezi), zuia akili yako geugeu,
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਬਹਹੁ ॥
kaam kroDh sang kabahu na bahhu.
do not ever associate with lust and anger.
Kamwe usiwahi kuhusiana na ukware na hasira.
ਜਲ ਥਲ ਮਾਹੇ ਆਪਹਿ ਆਪ ॥
jal thal maahay aapeh aap.
That God who is pervading all the lands and the seas,
Mungu huyo ambaye anaenea nchi zote na bahari zote,
ਆਪੈ ਜਪਹੁ ਆਪਨਾ ਜਾਪ ॥੫॥
aapai japahu aapnaa jaap. ||5||
merge in Him and meditate on Him as if He is meditating on Himself. ||5||
ungana na Yeye na utafakari kumhusu kana kwamba Yeye anatafakari kujihusu Mwenyewe.
ਪਾਂਚੈ ਪੰਚ ਤਤ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥
paaNchai panch tat bisthaar.
Paanche: (the fifth lunar day), this world is the expanse of the five elements,
Paanche: (siku ya tano ya mwezi), dunia hii ni upanuzi wa elementi tano,
ਕਨਿਕ ਕਾਮਿਨੀ ਜੁਗ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥
kanik kaaminee jug bi-uhaar.
and is occupied in the pursuit of wealth and women.
Na imeshughulishwa katika harakati za utajiri na wanawake.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸੁਧਾ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
paraym suDhaa ras peevai ko-ay.
Rare is the one who drinks the nectar of God’s love,
Nadra ni yule anayekunywa nekta ya upendo wa Mungu,
ਜਰਾ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਫੇਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੬॥
jaraa maran dukh fayr na ho-ay. ||6||
and is not afflicted with the fear of old age and death. ||6||
na haathiriwi na hofu ya uzee na kifo.
ਛਠਿ ਖਟੁ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਛਹੂੰ ਦਿਸ ਧਾਇ ॥
chhath khat chakar chhahoo-aN dis Dhaa-ay.
Chhath (the sixth lunar day), the six chakras (sense of touch, taste, smell, sight, sound and the mind) run in six directions to satisfy worldly desires.
Chhath (siku ya sita ya mwezi), chakra sita (hisi za kugusa, kuonja, kunusa, kuona, kusikia na ya kiakili) zinaenea katika mielekeo sita ili kuridhisha hamu za kidunia.
ਬਿਨੁ ਪਰਚੈ ਨਹੀ ਥਿਰਾ ਰਹਾਇ ॥
bin parchai nahee thiraa rahaa-ay.
They do not remain steady without being attuned to Naam.
Hazibaki thabiti bila kumakinikia Naam.
ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮੇਟਿ ਖਿਮਾ ਗਹਿ ਰਹਹੁ ॥
dubiDhaa mayt khimaa geh rahhu.
So erase your duality and hold tight to forgiveness,
Hivyo futa uwili wako na ushikilie msamaha,
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਕੀ ਸੂਲ ਨ ਸਹਹੁ ॥੭॥
karam Dharam kee sool na sahhu. ||7||
and don’t bear the pain of rituals or righteous deeds. ||7||
na usiwe na uchungu wa mila au vitendo adilifu.
ਸਾਤੈਂ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਚਾ ਜਾਣਿ ॥
saataiN sat kar baachaa jaan.
Saantey (the seventh lunar day), believe that the Guru’s word is true.
Saantey (siku ya saba ya mwezi), amini kwamba neno la Guru ni la kweli.
ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਪਰਵਾਣਿ ॥
aatam raam layho parvaan.
and you would be accepted by God, the supreme soul.
Na utakubalika na Mungu, roho kuu.
ਛੂਟੈ ਸੰਸਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਦੁਖ ॥
chhootai sansaa mit jaahi dukh.
This way all your doubt shall be removed and your troubles will end,
Kwa njia hii shaka yako yote itaondolewa na matatizo yako yatakwisha,
ਸੁੰਨ ਸਰੋਵਰਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਖ ॥੮॥
sunn sarovar paavhu sukh. ||8||
you will bathe in the celestial pool of Naam and enjoy peace. ||8||
utaoga katika kidimbwi cha mbinguni cha Naam na kufurahia amani.
ਅਸਟਮੀ ਅਸਟ ਧਾਤੁ ਕੀ ਕਾਇਆ ॥
astamee asat Dhaat kee kaa-i-aa.
Ashtami (the eighth lunar day), understand that this body is made of the eight ingredients.
Ashtami (siku ya nane ya mwezi), elewa kwamba mwili huu umetengenezwa kutumia viambato nane.
ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਅਕੁਲ ਮਹਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥
taa meh akul mahaa niDh raa-i-aa.
Within it dwells the sovereign God who does not belong to any special lineage and He is the treasure of virtues.
Ndani mwake mnaishi Mungu mwenyezi ambaye siye wa kizazi chochote maalumn na Yeye ndiye hazina ya fadhila.
ਗੁਰ ਗਮ ਗਿਆਨ ਬਤਾਵੈ ਭੇਦ ॥
gur gam gi-aan bataavai bhayd.
One, whom the spiritually wise Guru reveals the secret that God, dwells within,
Yule, ambaye Guru mwenye hekima ya kiroho anadhihirisha siri ya kwamba Mungu, anaishi ndani mwake,
ਉਲਟਾ ਰਹੈ ਅਭੰਗ ਅਛੇਦ ॥੯॥
ultaa rahai abhang achhayd.||9||
turns away from the worldly bonds and remains attuned to the eternal God. |9|
Anageuka kutoka kwa vifungo vya kidunia na anabaki amemakinikia Mungu wa milele.
ਨਉਮੀ ਨਵੈ ਦੁਆਰ ਕਉ ਸਾਧਿ ॥
na-umee navai du-aar ka-o saaDh.
Naumi: the ninth lunar day, keep all your sensory organs (nine openings of the body) under control.
Naumi: siku ya tisa ya mwezi, weka viungo vyako vyote vya hisi (mianzi tisa ya mwili) chini ya udhibiti wako.
ਬਹਤੀ ਮਨਸਾ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਬਾਂਧਿ ॥
bahtee mansaa raakho baaNDh.
Keep your pulsating desires restrained.
Zuia hamu zako zinazokukumba.
ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਸਭ ਬੀਸਰਿ ਜਾਹੁ ॥
lobh moh sabh beesar jaahu.
Forget all your greed and emotional attachment;
Sahau tamaa na kiambatisho chako chote cha kihisia;
