ਪਿਰੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥
pir sang kaaman jaani-aa gur mayl milaa-ee raam.
That soul-bride unites with God, who through the Guru’s teachings realizes His presence around her.
Roho-bi harusi huyo anaungana na Mungu, ambaye kupitia mafundisho ya Guru anagundua uwepo wa Mungu karibu naye .

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਤਪਤਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥
antar sabad milee sehjay tapat bujhaa-ee raam.
After uniting with God through the Guru’s word, the agony of separation from God within her intuitively calmed down.
Baada ya kuungana na Mungu kupitia neno la Guru, uchungu wa utengano kutoka kwa Mungu ndani mwake unatulia kisilika.

ਸਬਦਿ ਤਪਤਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਆਈ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ॥
sabad tapat bujhaa-ee antar saaNt aa-ee sehjay har ras chaakhi-aa.
yes the Guru’s word quenched the fire of separation, tranquility prevailed within and she relished the elixir of God’s Naam with intuitive ease.
Ndio neno la Guru lilizima moto wa utengano, utulivu ulidumu ndani mwake na alifurahia dawa ya Naam ya Mungu kwa urahisi wa hisia na silika.

ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਅਪਣੇ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੇ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥
mil pareetam apnay sadaa rang maanay sachai sabad subhaakhi-aa.
Meeting her Beloved-God, she enjoys His love continually; attuned to the divine words, her language becomes sublime and sweet.
Kwa kukutana na Mpendwa-Mungu wake, yeye anafurahia upendo wake kila mara; kwa kumakinikia maneno takatifu, lugha yake inakuwa tukufu na tamu.

ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਮੋਨੀ ਥਾਕੇ ਭੇਖੀ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
parh parh pandit monee thaakay bhaykhee mukat na paa-ee.
By continually reading scriptures, the Pandits and the silent sages have grown weary; none has ever achieved liberation from Maya by wearing holy garbs.
Kwa kusoma maandishi mara kwa mara, walimu wa busara na wajuzi wanyamavu wamechoka; hakuna ambaye amewahi kutimiza ukombozi kutoka Maya kwa kuvaa mavazi takatifu.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਜਗੁ ਬਉਰਾਨਾ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੩॥
naanak bin bhagtee jag ba-uraanaa sachai sabad milaa-ee. ||3||
O’ Nanak, without devotional worship of God, the entire world has gone insane; union with God is attained only through the Guru’s divine word.||3||
Ee Nanak, bila ibada ya ujitoaji ya Mungu, dunia nzima imepata kichaa; muungano na Mungu inapatwa tu kupitia neno takatifu la Guru.

ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਮੇਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
saa Dhan man anad bha-i-aa har jee-o mayl pi-aaray raam.
Bliss permeates the mind of the soul-bride, whom God has united with Him,
Raha tele inapenyeza akili ya roho-bi harusi, ambaye Mungu ameunganisha na Yeye,

ਸਾ ਧਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਰਸਿ ਰਸੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਅਪਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
saa Dhan har kai ras rasee gur kai sabad apaaray raam.
that soul-bride, through the Guru’s word, remains imbued with the elixir of the infinite God’s Name.
roho-bi harusi huyo, kupitia neno la Guru, anabaki amepenyezwa na dawa ya Jina la Mungu asiye na mwisho.

ਸਬਦਿ ਅਪਾਰੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੇ ॥
sabad apaaray milay pi-aaray sadaa gun saaray man vasay.
She meets her beloved through the divine word of praises of the infinite God; she remembers and always enshrines His virtues in her heart.
Yeye anakutana na mpendwa wake kupitia neno takatifu la sifa za Mungu asiye na mwisho; yeye anakumbuka na kuthamini daima fadhila zake moyoni.

ਸੇਜ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਜਾ ਪਿਰਿ ਰਾਵੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਅਵਗਣ ਨਸੇ ॥
sayj suhaavee jaa pir raavee mil pareetam avgan nasay.
Her heart, in which she enjoys her husband-God, becomes beautiful; upon meeting the Beloved-God, all her vices disappear.
Moyo wake, ambao ndani mwake anafurahia mume-Mungu wake, unakuwa mzuri, punde tu anapokutana na Mpendwa-Mungu wake, maovu yake yote yanapotea.

ਜਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸੋਹਿਲੜਾ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ॥
jit ghar naam har sadaa Dhi-aa-ee-ai sohilrhaa jug chaaray.
The heart in which there is always meditation on God’s Name, song of God’s praises continually resonate in that heart.
Moyo ambao ndani mwake daima kuna kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu, wimbo wa sifa za Mungu unatetema katika moyo huo kila wakati.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਅਨਦੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥੬॥
naanak naam ratay sadaa anad hai har mili-aa kaaraj saaray. ||4||1||6||
O’ Nanak, those who are imbued with the love of God’s Name are always in bliss, and upon meeting God, all their tasks are successfully accomplished. ||4||1||6||
Ee Nanak, wale ambao wamepenyezwa na upendo wa Jina la Mungu daima wana raha tele, na punde tu wanapokutana na Mungu, kazi zao zote zinatimizwa kikamilifu.

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:

ਸਾਜਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਸਹ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇਹੋ ॥
saajan mayray pareetmahu tum sah kee bhagat karayho.
O’ my dear friends, keep meditating on Husband-God with loving devotion.
Ee marafiki wangu wa dhati, endeleeni kutafakari kuhusu Mume-Mungu kwa ujitoaji wa upendo.

ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਲੇਹੋ ॥
gur sayvhu sadaa aapnaa naam padaarath layho.
Always keep serving your Guru by following his teachings and receive from him the wealth of Naam
Endelea kutumikia Guru wako daima kwa kufuata mafundisho yake na upokee kutoka kwake utajiri wa Naam.

ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਸਹੈ ਕੇਰੀ ਜੋ ਸਹ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਭਾਵਏ ॥
bhagat karahu tum sahai kayree jo sah pi-aaray bhaav-ay.
Yes, perform the worship of the Husband-God, which is pleasing to Him.
Ndio, fanya ibada ya Mume-Mungu, ambayo inapendeza kwake.

ਆਪਣਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਤੁਮ ਕਰਹੁ ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਸਹ ਖੁਸੀ ਨ ਆਵਏ ॥
aapnaa bhaanaa tum karahu taa fir sah khusee na aav-ay.
But if you do only what pleases you, then you would not receive the pleasure or gracre of the Husband-God.
Lakini iwapo ufanye kile ambacho kinakupendeza wewe pekee, basi hutapokea raha au neema ya Mume-Mungu.

ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਵ ਇਹੁ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਬਿਖੜਾ ਗੁਰ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਕੋ ਪਾਵਏ ॥
bhagat bhaav ih maarag bikh-rhaa gur du-aarai ko paav-ay.
This path of loving devotional worship is very difficult and only a rare person adopts this way of life through the Guru’s teachings.
Njia hii ya ibada ya ujitoaji kwa upendo ni ngumu sana na mtu nadra pekee anachukua mtindo huu wa maisha kupitia mafundisho ya Guru.

ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਏ ॥੧॥
kahai naanak jis karay kirpaa so har bhagtee chit laav-ay. ||1||
Nanak says, the one on whom God shows mercy, only that one attunes his mind to the devotional worship of God.||1||
Nanak anasema, yule ambaye Mungu anahurumia, huyo pekee anamakinisha akili yake kwa ibada ya ujitoaji ya Mungu.

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਬੈਰਾਗੀਆ ਤੂੰ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਸੁ ਦਿਖਾਵਹਿ ॥
mayray man bairaagee-aa tooN bairaag kar kis dikhaaveh.
O’ my falsely detached mind, to whom are you showing your detachedness?
Ee akili yangu yenye utangano wa uongo, unaonesha nani utengano wako?

ਹਰਿ ਸੋਹਿਲਾ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸਦ ਸਦਾ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ॥
har sohilaa tinH sad sadaa jo har gun gaavahi.
Those who always sing God’s praises, a song of God’s praises continually plays within them.
Wale ambao daima wanaimba sifa za Mungu, wimbo wa sifa za Mungu unacheza ndani mwao kila mara.

ਕਰਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਤੂੰ ਛੋਡਿ ਪਾਖੰਡੁ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਏ ॥
kar bairaag tooN chhod pakhand so saho sabh kichh jaan-ay.
Renounce hypocrisy and inculcate love for God, because He knows everything.
Kana unajimu na ujifunze upendo wa Mungu, kwa sababu Yeye anajua kila kitu.

ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਏ ॥
jal thal mahee-al ayko so-ee gurmukh hukam pachhaan-ay.
The one God is pervading in all waters, lands, and the sky and the Guru’s follower understands God’s command.
Mungu Mmoja anaenea katika maji yote, ardhi na anga na mfuasi wa Guru anaelewa amri ya Mungu.

ਜਿਨਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹਰੀ ਕੇਰਾ ਸੋਈ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਏ ॥
jin hukam pachhaataa haree kayraa so-ee sarab sukh paav-ay.
One who recognizes God’s command, receives all peace and comforts.
Yule ambaye anatambua amri ya Mungu, anapokea amani na starehe yote.

ਇਵ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸੋ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵਏ ॥੨॥
iv kahai naanak so bairaagee an-din har liv laav-ay. ||2||
This is what Nanak says, that person is truly detached from worldly desires who always keeps attuned to God. ||2||
Hiki ndicho Nanak anachosema, kwa kweli mtu huyo amejitenga kutoka hamu za kidunia ambaye daima anabaki amemakinikia Mungu.

ਜਹ ਜਹ ਮਨ ਤੂੰ ਧਾਵਦਾ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
jah jah man tooN Dhaavdaa tah tah har tayrai naalay.
O’ my mind, wherever you go, God always remains with you.
Ee akili yangu, popote uendapo, Mungu daima anasalia na wewe.

ਮਨ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥
man si-aanap chhodee-ai gur kaa sabad samaalay.
O’ my mind, renounce your cleverness and reflect upon the Guru’s word.
Ee akili yangu, kana ujanja wako na uwaze kwa makini kuhusu neno la Guru.

ਸਾਥਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਹੇ ॥
saath tayrai so saho sadaa hai ik khin har naam samaal
If just for a moment you meditate on God’s Name with loving devotion, you would realize that Husband-God is always with you.
Iwapo kwa muda mfupi tu utafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu kwa ujitoaji wa upendo, utagundua kwamba Mume-Mungu daima yu nawe.

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਕਟੇ ਅੰਤਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਵਹੇ ॥
janam janam kay tayray paap katay ant param pad paavhay.
The sins of your myriad births will be washed off and in the end you will attain the supreme spiritual status.
Dhambi za maelfu ya kuzaliwa kwingi zitasafishwa na mwishowe utapata hadhi kuu ya kiroho.

ਸਾਚੇ ਨਾਲਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਗੰਢੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥
saachay naal tayraa gandh laagai gurmukh sadaa samaalay.
You will form a close bondage with the eternal God by always remembering Him through the Guru’s teachings.
Utaunda uhusiano wa karibu na Mungu wa milele kwa kumkumbuka Yeye daima kupitia mafundisho ya Guru.

ਇਉ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਹ ਮਨ ਤੂੰ ਧਾਵਦਾ ਤਹ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਲੇ ॥੩॥
i-o kahai naanak jah man tooN Dhaavdaa tah har tayrai sadaa naalay. ||3||
Nanak says, O’ my mind wherever you go, God is always there with you. ||3||
Nanak anasema, Ee akili yangu popote uendapo, Mungu daima yu nawe hapo.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਧਾਵਤੁ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਆ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਆਏ ॥
satgur mili-ai Dhaavat thamiH-aa nij ghar vasi-aa aa-ay.
Upon meeting the true Guru and following his teachings, the wandering mind is held steady and comes to dwell within.
Baada ya kukutana na Guru wa kweli na kufuata mafundisho yake, akili inayozurura inafanywa thabiti na inakuja kuishi ndani mwake.

ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਹਾਝੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਏ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
naam vihaajhay naam la-ay naam rahay samaa-ay.
Then it receives Naam, meditates on Naam and remains absorbed in Naam
Kisha inapokea Naam, inatafakari kuhusu Naam na kubaki imevama katika Naam.
