ਧਾਵਤੁ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਦਸਵਾ ਦੁਆਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Dhaavat thamiH-aa satgur mili-ai dasvaa du-aar paa-i-aa.
Upon meeting the true Guru and following his teaching, the wandering mind is held steady and it finds the tenth Gate (supreme spiritual status).
Baada ya kukutana na Guru wa kweli na kufuata mafundisho yake, akili inayozurura inawekwa thabiti na inapata Lango la kumi (hadhi kuu ya kiroho).
ਤਿਥੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਰਹਾਇਆ ॥
tithai amrit bhojan sahj Dhun upjai jit sabad jagat thamiH rahaa-i-aa.
In that spiritual state, celestial melody resonates continuously which is the ambrosial food for the soul and through the Guru’s word, the mind remains unaffected by the worldly attachments
Katika hali hiyo ya kiroho, melodia ya kimbingu inatetema kila wakati ambayo ni chakula cha mabrosia cha roho na kupitia neno la Guru, akili inabaki bila kuathiriwa na viambatisho vya kidunia
ਤਹ ਅਨੇਕ ਵਾਜੇ ਸਦਾ ਅਨਦੁ ਹੈ ਸਚੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
tah anayk vaajay sadaa anad hai sachay rahi-aa samaa-ay.
In that spiritual state, the mind is always in bliss as if many musical instruments are playing continually and the mind remains attuned to God.
Katika hali hiyo ya kiroho, akili daima ipo na raha tele kana kwamba ala nyingi za muziki zinacheza bila mwisho na akili inabaki imemakinikia Mungu.
ਇਉ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਧਾਵਤੁ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਆ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਆਏ ॥੪॥
i-o kahai naanak satgur mili-ai Dhaavat thamiH-aa nij ghar vasi-aa aa-ay. ||4||
This is what Nanak says, by meeting the true Guru, the wandering mind becomes steady and comes to dwell in the home of its own self (heart). ||4||
Nanak anasema hivi, kwa kukutana na Guru wa kweli, akili inayozurura inakuwa thabiti na inakuja kuishi nyumbani mwa nafsi yake (moyo).
ਮਨ ਤੂੰ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਹੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂਲੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥
man tooN jot saroop hai aapnaa mool pachhaan.
O’ my mind, you are the embodiment of the Divine Light (God), recognize your own true origin.
Ee akili yangu, wewe ndiwe udhihirisho wa kimwili wa Mwanga Mtakatifu (Mungu), tambua asili yako mwenyewe ya kweli.
ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੁ ॥
man har jee tayrai naal hai gurmatee rang maan.
O’ mind, God is always with you; follow the Guru’s teachings and enjoy His love.
Ee akili, Mungu daima yu nawe; fuata mafundisho ya Guru na ufurahie upendo Wake.
ਮੂਲੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਤਾਂ ਸਹੁ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਮਰਣ ਜੀਵਣ ਕੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
mool pachhaaneh taaN saho jaaneh maran jeevan kee sojhee ho-ee.
If you understand about your origin, then you realize the Master-God and you will understand what is being spiritually dead or spiritually alive.
Iwapo uelewe kuhusu asili yako, basi utagundua Bwana-Mungu na utaelewa kuwa mfu kiroho au hai kiroho.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਤਾਂ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
gur parsaadee ayko jaaneh taaN doojaa bhaa-o na ho-ee.
By the Guru’s grace, if you come to realize that there is only one God, then no other attachment would arise in you.
Kwa neema ya Guru, iwapo ukuje kugundua kwamba kuna Mungu Mmoja tu, basi hakuna kiambatisho kingine kitatokea ndani mwako.
ਮਨਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਆਈ ਵਜੀ ਵਧਾਈ ਤਾ ਹੋਆ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
man saaNt aa-ee vajee vaDhaa-ee taa ho-aa parvaan.
When peace prevails in the mind and the sounds of joy resounds within, then you would be acclaimed in God’s presence.
Wakati amani inadumu akilini na sauti za furaha zinasikika ndani mwa mtu, basi utasifiwa katika uwepo wa Mungu.
ਇਉ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਨ ਤੂੰ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਹੈ ਅਪਣਾ ਮੂਲੁਪਛਾਣੁ ॥੫॥
i-o kahai naanak man tooN jot saroop hai apnaa mool pachhaan. ||5||
This is what Nanak says: O’ my mind, you are the embodiment of the Divine Light-God, recognize your own true origin. ||5||
Nanak anasema hivi: Ee akili yangu, wewe ndiwe udhihirisho wa kimwili wa Mwanga Mtakatifu-Mungu, tambua asili yako mwenyewe ya kweli.
ਮਨ ਤੂੰ ਗਾਰਬਿ ਅਟਿਆ ਗਾਰਬਿ ਲਦਿਆ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
man tooN gaarab ati-aa gaarab ladi-aa jaahi.
O’ mind, you are so full of ego and you would depart from here loaded with ego.
Ee akili, umejawa zaidi na ubinafsi na utaondoka kutoka humu na mzigo wa ubinafsi.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੂਨੀ ਭਵਾਹਿ ॥
maa-i-aa mohnee mohi-aa fir fir joonee bhavaahi.
The fascinating Maya has enticed you, because of this you would go through many births again and again.
Maya inayopendeza imekuvutia, kutokana na hiyo utapitia kuzaliwa kwingi tena na tena.
ਗਾਰਬਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਾਹਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਹੇ ॥
gaarab laagaa jaahi mugaDh man ant ga-i-aa pachhutaavhay.
O’ foolish mind, when you would depart from here inflated with ego, then you would repent in the end.
Ee akili mpumbavu, wakati utaondoka kutoka humu ukiwa umejawa na ubinafsi, basi utatubu mwishowe.
ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਤਿਸਨਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਲਗਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਹੇ ॥
ahaNkaar tisnaa rog lagaa birthaa janam gavaavhay.
You are afflicted with the diseases of ego and intense desires; you are wasting your life away in vain.
Umeathiriwa na magonjwa ya ubinafsi na hamu kali; unaharibu maisha yako bure.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਗੈ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਹੇ ॥
manmukh mugaDh cheeteh naahee agai ga-i-aa pachhutaavhay.
O’ foolish self-willed mind, you do not remember God, you would repent hereafter.
Ee akili mpumbavu mwenye hiari binafsi, wewe hukumbuki Mungu, utatubu ufikapo akhera.
ਇਉ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਨ ਤੂੰ ਗਾਰਬਿ ਅਟਿਆ ਗਾਰਬਿ ਲਦਿਆ ਜਾਵਹੇ ॥੬॥
i-o kahai naanak man tooN gaarab ati-aa gaarab ladi-aa jaavhay. ||6||
This is what Nanak says, O’ my mind, you are inflated with ego and you would depart from this world laden with ego.||6||
Nanak anasema hivi, Ee akili yangu, umejawa na ubinafsi na utaondoka kutoka dunia hii ukiwa umejawa na ubinafsi.
ਮਨ ਤੂੰ ਮਤ ਮਾਣੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਿ ਹਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਹੋਹੁ ॥
man tooN mat maan karahi je ha-o kichh jaandaa gurmukh nimaanaa hohu.
O’ my mind, do not feel proud that I know something. Instead, follow the Guru’s teachings and remain humble.
Ee akili yangu, usihisi fahari kwamba najua jambo fulani. Badala yake, fuata mafundisho ya Guru na ubaki mnyenyekevu.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਹਉ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੈ ਸਚਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਲੁ ਖੋਹੁ ॥
antar agi-aan ha-o buDh hai sach sabad mal khohu.
Within you are ignorance and an egoistic intellect; cleanse this dirt by attuning to God through the true Guru’s word.
Ndani mwako kuna ujinga na uwekevu wenye ubinafsi; takasa uchafu huu kwa kumakinikia Mungu kupitia neno la Guru wa kweli.
ਹੋਹੁ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਅਗੈ ਮਤ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੁ ਲਖਾਵਹੇ ॥
hohu nimaanaa satguroo agai mat kichh aap lakhaavhay.
So be humble and surrender to the true Guru; see that you do not assert your self-conceit at all.
Basi kuwa mnyenyekevu na ujisalimishe kwa Guru wa kweli; ona ya kwamba usisisitize majivuno yako binafsi hata kidogo.
ਆਪਣੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਜਲਿਆ ਮਤ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਵਹੇ ॥
aapnai ahaNkaar jagat jali-aa mat tooN aapnaa aap gavaavhay.
The world is consumed by self-conceit; see that you don’t lose your own self.
Dunia imemezwa na majivuno binafsi; ona kwamba usipoteza nafsi yako mwenyewe.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਕਰਹਿ ਕਾਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹੁ ॥
satgur kai bhaanai karahi kaar satgur kai bhaanai laag rahu.
You should do whatever pleases the true Guru and live by his teachings.
Unapaswa kufanya chochote kinachopendeza Guru wa kweli na kuishi kulingana na mafundisho yake.
ਇਉ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਪੁ ਛਡਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਨ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੁ ॥੭॥
i-o kahai naanak aap chhad sukh paavahi man nimaanaa ho-ay rahu. ||7||
This is what Nanak says, that O’ my mind, attain celestial peace by renouncing your self-conceit and remain humble. ||7||
Nanak anasema hivi, kwamba Ee akili yangu, pata amani ya kimbingu kwa kukana majivuno yako binafsi na usalie mnyenyekevu.
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਵੇਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
Dhan so vaylaa jit mai satgur mili-aa so saho chit aa-i-aa.
Blessed was that time, when I met the True Guru and realized the Master-God dwelling in my consciousness;
Ulibarikiwa wakati huo, ambao nilikutana na Guru wa Kweli na kugundua Bwana-Mungu akiishi katika dhamiri yangu;
ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਭਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
mahaa anand sahj bha-i-aa man tan sukh paa-i-aa.
then great bliss prevailed intuitively and I felt peace both in my mind and heart.
Kisha raha tele kuu ilidumu kisilika na nilihisi amani katika akili na moyo wangu.
ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਇਆ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਅਵਗਣ ਸਭਿ ਵਿਸਾਰੇ ॥
so saho chit aa-i-aa man vasaa-i-aa avgan sabh visaaray.
When I realized the Master-God in my consciousness; the Guru enshrined Him within my mind and forgave all my sins.
Wakati niligundua Bwana-Mungu katika dhamiri yangu; Guru alimthamini Mungu ndani mwa akili yangu na kusamehe dhambi zangu zote.
ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
jaa tis bhaanaa gun pargat ho-ay satgur aap savaaray.
When it pleased Him, virtues appeared in me and the Guru Himself adorned me.
Wakati ilimpendeza Yeye, fadhila zilitokea ndani mwangu na Guru Mwenyewe alinipamba.
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੋਏ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿੜਿਆ ਦੁਤੀਆ ਭਾਉ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
say jan parvaan ho-ay jinHee ik naam dirhi-aa dutee-aa bhaa-o chukaa-i-aa.
The devotees, who meditate only on God’s Name and renounce the love of duality (Maya), become approved in God’s presence.
Watawa, wanaotafakari tu kuhusu Jina la Mungu na kukana upendo wa uwili (Maya), wanaidhinishwa katika uwepo wa Mungu.
ਇਉ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਵੇਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੮॥
i-o kahai naanak Dhan so vaylaa jit mai satgur mili-aa so saho chit aa-i-aa. ||8||
This is what Nanak says, blessed was that time when I met the true Guru and realized the master-God in my mind ||8||
Nanak anasema hivi, ulibarikiwa wakati huo ambao nilikutana na Guru wa kweli na nikagundua Bwana-Mungu akilini mwangu.
ਇਕਿ ਜੰਤ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ॥
ik jant bharam bhulay tin seh aap bhulaa-ay.
Many people wander around deluded by doubt; the Master-God Himself hasmisled them.
Watu wengi wanazurura wakidanganywa na shaka; Bwana-Mungu Mwenyewe amewapotosha.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
doojai bhaa-ay fireh ha-umai karam kamaa-ay.
They wander around in the love of Maya (duality) and do their deeds in ego.
Wanazurura kote katika upendo wa Maya (uwili) na wanatenda vitendo vyao katika ubinafsi.
ਤਿਨਿ ਸਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਕੁਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਏ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
tin seh aap bhulaa-ay kumaarag paa-ay tin kaa kichh na vasaa-ee.
The Master-God Himself has strayed them and put them on the wrong path, there is nothing under their control.
Bwana-Mungu Mwenyewe amewapotosha na kuwaweka kwenye njia isiyo sahihi, hakuna kitu kipo katika udhibiti wao.
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਅਵਗਤਿ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਇਹ ਰਚਨ ਰਚਾਈ ॥
tin kee gat avgat tooNhai jaaneh jin ih rachan rachaa-ee.
You alone, who has created the creation, know their high or low state of mind.
Wewe pekee, ambaye umeumba uumbaji, unajua hali ya juu na ya chini ya akili.
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਖਰਾ ਭਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਿਸੈ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
hukam tayraa kharaa bhaaraa gurmukh kisai bujhaa-ay.
Your command is truly strict and it is only a rare person whom You cause to understand this command through the Guru’s teachings.
Amri yako kwa kweli ni kali na ni mtu nadra pekee ambaye unafanya aelewe amri hii kupitia kwa mafundisho ya Guru.
ਇਉ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਿਆ ਜੰਤ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਜਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ॥੯॥
i-o kahai naanak ki-aa jant vichaaray jaa tuDh bharam bhulaa-ay. ||9||
This is what Nanak says, what can the poor creatures do, when You Yourself mislead them into doubt? ||9||
Nanak anasema hivi, viumbe wanyonge wanaweza kufanya nini, wakati Wewe Mwenyewe unawapotosha kwenye shaka?
