ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੮॥੧੯॥
naanak naam ratay veechaaree sacho sach kamaavani-aa. ||8||18||19||
O’ Nanak, they who are imbued with God’s Name are truly wise, and they practice and earn only Truth (by always remembering God).
Ee Nanak, wale ambao wamevama katika Jina la Mungu wana hekima ya kweli, na wanatenda na kuchuma Ukweli pekee (kwa kumkumbuka Mungu daima).

Maajh Raag, na Guru wa Tatu:
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਬਦੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੈ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
nirmal sabad nirmal hai banee.
Immaculate is the Divine word and its utterance.
Safi kabisa ni neno Takatifu na kutamka kwake.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
nirmal jot sabh maahi samaanee.
The Divine Light which is pervading among all is Immaculate.
Mwanga takatifu ambao unaenea kati ya yote ni safi kabisa.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
nirmal banee har saalaahee jap har nirmal mail gavaavni-aa. ||1||
I sing the praises of God through the immaculate divine word,. By meditating on God, one becomes pure and the filth of vices is washed off.
Mimi naimba sifa za Mungu kupitia neno takatifu safi kabisa. Kwa kutafakari kuhusu Mungu, mtu anakuwa safi na uchafu wa dhambi unasafishwa.
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree sukh-daata man vasaavani-aa.
I dedicate myself, to those who enshrine the peace giving God in their mind.
Najiweka wakfu, kwa wale wanaothamini Mungu mtoa amani akilini mwao.
ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਸਬਦੋ ਸੁਣਿ ਤਿਸਾ ਮਿਟਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har nirmal gur sabad salaahee sabdo sun tisaa mitaavni-aa.||1|| rahaa-o.
I sing the praises of the immaculate God through the Guru’s word. I eradicate the the desires for worldly riches just by listening to the Guru’s word.
Naimba sifa za Mungu safi kupitia neno la Guru. Naangamiza tamaa za utajiri wa kidunia kwa kusikiza neno la Guru.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥
nirmal naam vasi-aa man aa-ay.
The one in whose mind the Immaculate Naam comes to dwell,
Yule ambaye akili mwake Naam safi kabisa inakuja kuishi,
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
man tan nirmal maa-i-aa moh gavaa-ay.
his mind and body become Immaculate, and he eradicates love for Maya.
Akili na mwili wake unakuwa safi kabisa, na anaangamiza upendo kwa Maya.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਦੁ ਵਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
nirmal gun gaavai nit saachay kay nirmal naad vajaavani-aa. ||2||
He sings the pure praises of the eternal God as if he is playing the divine melody.
Yeye anaimba sifa zafi za Mungu wa milele kana kwamba anacheza melodia takatifu.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
nirmal amrit gur tay paa-i-aa.
The one who has obtained the Immaculate Ambrosial Nectar from the Guru,
Yule ambaye amepata Nekta ya Ambrosia safi kutoka kwa Guru,
ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਮੁਆ ਤਿਥੈ ਮੋਹੁ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
vichahu aap mu-aa tithai moh na maa-i-aa.
his sense of self-conceit disappears and no attachment for Maya is left.
Hisi yake ya majivuno ya kibinafsi inapotea na hakuna kiambatisho cha Maya kinabaki.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਅਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
nirmal gi-aan Dhi-aan at nirmal nirmal banee man vasaavani-aa. ||3||
One who enshrines the Guru’s Immaculate word in the mind, immaculate is his spiritual wisdom, and utterly immaculate is his meditation on God’s Name.
Yule anayethamini neno safi la Guru akilini, hekima yake ya kiroho ni safi, na kutafakari kwake kwa Jina la Mungu ni safi kabisa.
ਜੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
jo nirmal sayvay so nirmal hovai.
The one who lovingly meditates on the Immaculate God becomes immaculate.
Yule amabye anatafakari kwa upendo kuhusu Mungu safi anakuwa safi mwenyewe.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੇ ਧੋਵੈ ॥
ha-umai mail gur sabday Dhovai.
By acting on the Guru’s Word, he washes off the dirt of ego.
Kwa kutenda kulingana na Neno la Guru, anasafisha uchafu wa ubinafsi.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਵਾਜੈ ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
nirmal vaajai anhad Dhun banee dar sachai sobhaa paavni-aa. ||4||
Within him vibrates the continuous melody of Divine word and he obtains honor in God’s court.
Ndani mwake mnatetema melodia isiyo na mwisho ya neno takatifu na anapata heshima katika mahakama ya Mungu.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
nirmal tay sabh nirmal hovai.
Through the Immaculate God, all become immaculate.
Kupitia Mungu safi, wote wanakuwa safi.
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਰੋਵੈ ॥
nirmal manoo-aa har sabad parovai.
The mind which enshrines the Divine word, becomes immaculate.
Akili ambayo inathamini neno takatifu, inakuwa safi.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗੇ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
nirmal naam lagay badbhaagee nirmal naam suhaavani-aa. ||5||
Fortunate are those, who are attuned to the immaculate Naam. Through the immaculate Naam their lives become virtuous.
Wana bahati sana wale, ambao wamemakinikia Naam safi. Kupitia Naam safi maisha yao yanakuwa mema.
ਸੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਜੋ ਸਬਦੇ ਸੋਹੈ ॥
so nirmal jo sabday sohai.
Immaculate is the one who is adorned with the divine word.
Safi ni yule ambaye amepambwa na neno takatifu.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਮੋਹੈ ॥
nirmal naam man tan mohai.
The immaculate God’s Name entices his mind and body.
Jina safi la Mungu linavutia akili na mwili wake.
ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਲੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਮੁਖੁ ਊਜਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
sach naam mal kaday na laagai mukh oojal sach karaavani-aa. ||6||
No filth of vices ever attaches to the one who is immersed in the True Naam.The true Name makes his face radiant (worthy of honor in God’s court).
Hakuna uchafu wa dhambi unakwamilia yule ambaye amevama katika Naam ya kweli. Jina la kweli linafanya uso wake unametameta (anastahili heshima katika mahakama ya Mungu).
ਮਨੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥
man mailaa hai doojai bhaa-ay.
The mind is polluted by the love of duality.
Akili imechafuliwa na upendo wa uwili.
ਮੈਲਾ ਚਉਕਾ ਮੈਲੈ ਥਾਇ ॥
mailaa cha-ukaa mailai thaa-ay.
Filthy is that kitchen, and filthy is that dwelling;
Limechafuka jikoni hilo, na makao hayo ni chafu;
ਮੈਲਾ ਖਾਇ ਫਿਰਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਵਧਾਏ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੈਲੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
mailaa khaa-ay fir mail vaDhaa-ay manmukh mail dukh paavni-aa. ||7||
By consuming the things earned by dishonest means, the self-willed becomes even more filthy and suffers pain due to the corrupt lifestyle.
Kwa kula vitu vilivyochumwa kwa njia za udanganyifu, wenye hiari binafsi wanachafuka zaidi na kuteseka maumivu kutokana na mtindo fisadi wa kuishi.
ਮੈਲੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਭਿ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਬਾਏ ॥
mailay nirmal sabh hukam sabaa-ay.
The Pure and impure are all subject to God’ will.
Safi na najisi wote wanatiishwa kwa mapenzi ya Mungu.
ਸੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਾਏ ॥
say nirmal jo har saachay bhaa-ay.
Only those who are pleasing to God are immaculate.
Ni wale tu wanaompendeza Mungu ambao ni safi.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਚੁਕਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੯॥੨੦॥
naanak naam vasai man antar gurmukh mail chukaavani-aa. ||8||19||20||
O’ Nanak, the Naam dwells within the minds of that guru’s follower, who removes the filth of vices from his mind.
Ee Nanak, Naam inaishi akilini mwa mfuasi huyo wa Guru, ambaye anaondoa uchafu wa dhambi kutoka akili yake.

Maajh Raag, by the Third Guru:
Maajh Raag, na Guru wa Tatu:
ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਊਜਲੁ ਊਜਲ ਹੰਸਾ ॥
govind oojal oojal hansaa.
God is like an immaculate pool, and the Guru’s followers bathing in it (meditating on His Name) become like pure swans.
Mungu ni kama kidimbwi safi, na wafuasi wa Guru wanaoga ndani mwake (kutafakari kwa Jina lake) wanakuwa kama bata-maji safi.
ਮਨੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਨਸਾ ॥
man banee nirmal mayree mansaa.
Through them my soul, speech and desires are also rendered immaculate.
Kupitia kwao roho, matamshi na hamu zangu zimefanywa kuwa safi.
ਮਨਿ ਊਜਲ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਖ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਅਤਿ ਊਜਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
man oojal sadaa mukh soheh at oojal naam Dhi-aavani-aa. ||1||
They who meditate on the Name of God, their minds become pure and their faces always look very radiant.
Wale wanaotafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu, akili zao zinakuwa safi na nyuso zao zinametameta mno.
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree gobind gun gaavani-aa.
I dedicate my life and soul to the one who sings God’s praises,
Naweka wakfu maisha na roho yangu kwa yule anayeimba sifa za Mungu,
ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਕਹੈ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਗੁਣ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gobid gobid kahai din raatee gobid gun sabad sunaavni-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and utters God’s Name day and night, and through the Guru’s word, recites God’s praises (to others).
Na kutamka Jina la Mungu mchana na usiku, na kupitia neno la Guru, anakariri sifa za Mungu (kwa wengine).
ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
gobid gaavahi sahj subhaa-ay.
They who intuitively sing God’s praises,
Wale ambao kwa hisia na silika wanaimba sifa za Mungu,
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭੈ ਊਜਲ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਏ ॥
gur kai bhai oojal ha-umai mal jaa-ay.
through the revered fear of the Guru, they become immaculate, because their dirt of egoism is dispelled.
Kupitia uoga kwa heshima ya Guru, wanakuwa safi, kwa sababu uchafu wao wa ubinafsi umeondolewa.
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
sadaa anand raheh bhagat karahi din raatee sun gobid gun gaavani-aa. ||2||
They always live in a state of bliss. Day and night, they worship God. They hear and sing His praises.
Daima wanaishi katika hali ya furaha tele. Mchana na usiku, wanamwabudu Mungu. Wanasikia na kuimba sifa zake.
ਮਨੂਆ ਨਾਚੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
manoo-aa naachai bhagat drirh-aa-ay.
As one strengthens one’s devotional worship, his mind dances in elation.
Mtu anavyoimarisha ibada yake ya kujitolea, ndivyo akili yake inayocheza katika furaha.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੈ ਮਨੁ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
gur kai sabad manai man milaa-ay.
Through the Guru’s word, he merges his mind with God.
Kupitia neno la Guru, anaunganisha akili yake na Mungu.
ਸਚਾ ਤਾਲੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ਸਬਦੇ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
sachaa taal pooray maa-i-aa moh chukaa-ay sabday nirat karaavani-aa. ||3||
The dance to the tune of the Guru’s word after shedding the attachment to Maya is the true devotional dance of the mind.
Kucheza kwa tuni ya neno la Guru baada ya kuondoa kiambatisho cha Maya ni kucheza kwa kujitolea kwa akili kwa akili.
ਊਚਾ ਕੂਕੇ ਤਨਹਿ ਪਛਾੜੇ ॥
oochaa kookay taneh pachhaarhay.
The one who shouts out loudly and makes forceful movements with the body.
Yule anayepiga mayowe kwa sauti ya juu na kufanya miendo ya kulazimisha ya mwili.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਜੋਹਿਆ ਜਮਕਾਲੇ ॥
maa-i-aa mohi johi-aa jamkaalay.
He is simply doing this for the love of worldly riches, and is being watched by the demon of Death.
Anafanya hivyo tu kutokana na upendo wa utajiri wa kidunia, na anatazamwa na pepo wa Kifo.
