ਬੰਦਕ ਹੋਇ ਬੰਧ ਸੁਧਿ ਲਹੈ ॥੨੯॥
bandak ho-ay banDh suDh lahai. ||29||
He becomes a bard at God’s gate, and becomes aware of the bonds of worldly attachments and doesn’t get caught in these bonds .||29||
Yeye anakuwa mshairi katika lango la Mungu, na anapata ufahamu wa vifungo vya viambatisho vya kidunia na hanaswi katika vifungo hivi.
ਭਭਾ ਭੇਦਹਿ ਭੇਦ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ॥
bhabhaa bhaydeh bhayd milaavaa.
Bhabha: By removing his doubt, one realizes God,
Bhabha: kwa kuondoa shaka yake, mtu anamgundua Mungu,
ਅਬ ਭਉ ਭਾਨਿ ਭਰੋਸਉ ਆਵਾ ॥
ab bha-o bhaan bharosa-o aavaa.
and by shattering his worldly fears, he develops faith in God.
Na kwa kuvunja hofu zake za kidunia, anasitawisha imani kwa Mungu.
ਜੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
jo baahar so bheetar jaani-aa.
God who pervades outside, he realize Him within himself,
Mungu ambaye anaenea nje, anamgundua Yeye ndani mwake,
ਭਇਆ ਭੇਦੁ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਿਆ ॥੩੦॥
bha-i-aa bhayd bhoopat pehchaani-aa. ||30||
when he understands this secret, he realizes God, the Master of the world. ||30||
wakati anaelewa siri hii, yeye anamgundua Mungu, Bwana wa dunia.
ਮਮਾ ਮੂਲ ਗਹਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
mamaa mool gahi-aa man maanai.
Mamma: If we enshrine God in our heart, then mind stops wandering in doubt.
Mamma: Iwapo tuthamini Mungu moyoni mwetu, basi akili inaacha kuzurura katika shaka.
ਮਰਮੀ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
marmee ho-ay so man ka-o jaanai.
One who understands this mystery understands the reason for the wandering of the mind.
Mtu anayeelewa fumbo hili anaelewa sababu ya kuzurura kwa akili.
ਮਤ ਕੋਈ ਮਨ ਮਿਲਤਾ ਬਿਲਮਾਵੈ ॥
mat ko-ee man miltaa bilmaavai.
Therefore, don’t delay when the mind starts getting attuned to God,
Hivyo basi, hachelei wakati akili inaanza kumakinikia Mungu,
ਮਗਨ ਭਇਆ ਤੇ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩੧॥
magan bha-i-aa tay so sach paavai. ||31||
because the mind realizes the eternal God only when it gets absorbed in His remembrance. ||31||
kwa sababu akili inagundua Mungu wa milele wakati tu inavama katika ukumbusho wake.
ਮਮਾ ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਕਾਜੁ ਹੈ ਮਨ ਸਾਧੇ ਸਿਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
mamaa man si-o kaaj hai man saaDhay siDh ho-ay.
MAMMA: The real business of every one is with one’s mind; one who disciplines his mind attains perfection and achieves the real purpose of life.
Mamma: Biashara ya kweli ya kila mtu ni kwa akili yake; yule anayedhibiti akili yake anafikia ukamili na kutimiza kusudi halisi la maisha.
ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਮਨ ਸਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੩੨॥
man hee man si-o kahai kabeeraa man saa mili-aa na ko-ay. ||32||
Kabir says, our main business is with the mind, and I have not found anyone like the mind to deal with. ||32||
Kabir anasema, biashara yetu kuu ni kwa akili, na sijapata yeyote kama akili ya kukabiliana naye.
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਕਤੀ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਉ ॥
ih man saktee ih man see-o.
Indulged in Maya, this mind is Shakti, the power; absorbed in devotional worship, this mind is Shiva, the embodiment of bliss-giving God.
Ikijishughulisha katika Maya, akili hii ni Shakti, nguvu hiyo; ikivama katika ibada ya kujitolea, akili hii ni Shiva, udhihirisho wa kimwili wa Mungu anayetoa raha tele.
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਪੰਚ ਤਤ ਕੋ ਜੀਉ ॥
ih man panch tat ko jee-o.
This mind is also the life of the five elements (physical body).
Akili hii pia ni uhai wa elementi tano (mwili unaogusika).
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲੇ ਜਉ ਉਨਮਨਿ ਰਹੈ ॥
ih man lay ja-o unman rahai.
Controlling this mind when a person remains in a state of divine bliss,
Kwa kudhibiti akili hii wakati mtu anabaki katika hali ya raha tele takatifu,
ਤਉ ਤੀਨਿ ਲੋਕ ਕੀ ਬਾਤੈ ਕਹੈ ॥੩੩॥
ta-o teen lok kee baatai kahai. ||33||
then the mind reflects on the mysteries of all the three worlds. ||33||
kisha akili inatafakari kuhusu mafumbo ya dunia zote tatu.
ਯਯਾ ਜਉ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਤਉ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਸਿ ਕਾਇਆ ਗਾਉ ॥
ya-yaa ja-o jaaneh ta-o durmat han kar bas kaa-i-aa gaa-o.
Yaya: If you want to learn the right conduct of life, then destroy your evil intellect and control the sensory organs.
Yaya: Iwapo unataka kujifunza maadili mema ya maisha, basi angamiza uwekevu wako mbaya na udhibiti viungo vyako vya hisi.
ਰਣਿ ਰੂਤਉ ਭਾਜੈ ਨਹੀ ਸੂਰਉ ਥਾਰਉ ਨਾਉ ॥੩੪॥
ran roota-o bhaajai nahee soora-o thaara-o naa-o. ||34||
When you are engaged in the battle to control your body and if you don’t run away; only then you will be called a brave warrior. ||34||
Wakati umehusishwa katika vita vya kudhibiti mwili wako na iwapo usitoroke; wakati huo tu ndio utaitwa shujaa jasiri.
ਰਾਰਾ ਰਸੁ ਨਿਰਸ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
raaraa ras niras kar jaani-aa.
Raara; One who has deemed the worldly pleasures as unpalatable,
Raara: yule ambaye amefikiria raha za kidunia kama zisizona ladha,
ਹੋਇ ਨਿਰਸ ਸੁ ਰਸੁ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਿਆ ॥
ho-ay niras so ras pehchaani-aa.
remaining aloof from worldly pleasures, he has recognized the taste of bliss.
Akibaki amejitenga kutoka kwa raha za kidunia, yeye ametambua kionjo cha raha tele.
ਇਹ ਰਸ ਛਾਡੇ ਉਹ ਰਸੁ ਆਵਾ ॥
ih ras chhaaday uh ras aavaa.
One who abandons the worldly pleasures enjoys the elixir of God’s Name,
Yule ambaye anaacha raha za kidunia anafurahia dawa ya Jina la Mungu,
ਉਹ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ਇਹ ਰਸੁ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਵਾ ॥੩੫॥
uh ras pee-aa ih ras nahee bhaavaa. ||35||
when one drinks that elixir of Naam, then this taste of worldly pleasures doesn’t please him. ||35||
wakati mtu anakunywa dawa hiyo ya Naam, basi kionjo hiki cha raha za kidunia hakimpendezi.
ਲਲਾ ਐਸੇ ਲਿਵ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥
lalaa aisay liv man laavai.
Lalla: If one so attunes one’s mind to meditation on God,
Lalla: iwapo mtu amakinishe akili yake kwa kutafakari kuhusu Mungu,
ਅਨਤ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਪਰਮ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
anat na jaa-ay param sach paavai.
such that it doesn’t wander anywhere, then one realizes God.
Kana kwamba haizururi popote, basi mtu anamgundua Mungu.
ਅਰੁ ਜਉ ਤਹਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈ ॥
ar ja-o tahaa paraym liv laavai.
If in that state of meditation one remains absorbed in loving devotion,
Iwapo katika hali hiyo ya kutafakari mtu anabaki amevama katika kujitolea kwa upendo,
ਤਉ ਅਲਹ ਲਹੈ ਲਹਿ ਚਰਨ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੩੬॥
ta-o alah lahai leh charan samaavai. ||36||
then he realizes that incomprehensible God and remains merged in His love. |36|
basi yeye anagundua Mungu huyo asiyeeleweka na anabaki ameunganishwa katika upendo wake.
ਵਵਾ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਬਿਸਨ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਰਿ ॥
vavaa baar baar bisan samHaar.
Vava: O’ my friend, always remember God,
Vava: Ee rafiki wangu, daima mkumbuke Mungu,
ਬਿਸਨ ਸੰਮ੍ਹਾਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਾਰਿ ॥
bisan sammhaar na aavai haar.
by remembering God one does not lose the game of life.
Kwa kumkumbuka Mungu mtu hapotezi mchezo wa maisha.
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜੇ ਬਿਸਨਤਨਾ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
bal bal jay bisantanaa jas gaavai.
I am dedicated to that devotee who sings the praises of God.
Nimejiweka wakfu kwa mtawa huyo anayeimba sifa za Mungu.
ਵਿਸਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩੭॥
visan milay sabh hee sach paavai. ||37||
Upon meeting God, such a devotee beholds Him everywhere.||37||
Mara tu anapokutana na Mungu, mtawa kama huyo anamtazama Yeye kila mahali.
ਵਾਵਾ ਵਾਹੀ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਵਾ ਜਾਨੇ ਇਹੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
vaa vaa vaa hee jaanee-ai vaa jaanay ih ho-ay.
Vaava: O’ brother, know only that God, because when one knows him, one becomes the embodiment of that God.
Vaava: Ee ndugu, jua tu Mungu huyo, kwa sababu wakati mtu anamjua, mtu huyo anakuwa udhihirisho wa kimwili wa Mungu huyo.
ਇਹੁ ਅਰੁ ਓਹੁ ਜਬ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਬ ਮਿਲਤ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੩੮॥
ih ar oh jab milai tab milat na jaanai ko-ay. ||38||
When this soul and God unite then no one can understand their union or can separate them. ||38||.
Wakati roho hii na Mungu wanaungana basi hakuna anayeweza kuelewa muungano wao au kuweza kuwatenganisha.
ਸਸਾ ਸੋ ਨੀਕਾ ਕਰਿ ਸੋਧਹੁ ॥
sasaa so neekaa kar soDhhu.
Sassa: Discipline your mind perfectly well.
Sassa: Ipe akili yako nidhamu vizuri zaidi.
ਘਟ ਪਰਚਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਨਿਰੋਧਹੁ ॥
ghat parchaa kee baat niroDhahu.
Refrain from that talk which allures the mind.
Jizuie kutoka matamshi ambayo yanayovutia akili.
ਘਟ ਪਰਚੈ ਜਉ ਉਪਜੈ ਭਾਉ ॥
ghat parchai ja-o upjai bhaa-o.
When the mind is attracted towards God, love wells up within and
Wakati akili inavutiwa kwa Mungu, upendo unajaa ndani mwake na
ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਤਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਰਾਉ ॥੩੯॥
poor rahi-aa tah taribhavan raa-o. ||39||
the sovereign God of three worlds is seen pervading everywhere. ||39||
Mungu mkuu wa dunia tatu anaonekana akienea kote.
ਖਖਾ ਖੋਜਿ ਪਰੈ ਜਉ ਕੋਈ ॥
khakhaa khoj parai ja-o ko-ee.
Khakha: If anyone engages in search for God and
Khakha: Iwapo yeyote anajihusisha katika kumtafuta Mungu na
ਜੋ ਖੋਜੈ ਸੋ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
jo khojai so bahur na ho-ee.
if someone does realize Him then his cycle of birth and death ends.
Iwapo mtu amgundue Yeye basi mzunguko wake wa kuzaliwa na kufa unatamatika.
ਖੋਜ ਬੂਝਿ ਜਉ ਕਰੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
khoj boojh ja-o karai beechaaraa.
When someone seeks God, understands His virtues and meditates on Him,
Wakati mtu anamtafuta Mungu, aelewe fadhila zake na kutafakari kumhusu Yeye,
ਤਉ ਭਵਜਲ ਤਰਤ ਨ ਲਾਵੈ ਬਾਰਾ ॥੪੦॥
ta-o bhavjal tarat na laavai baaraa. ||40||
then he crosses over the terrifying world-ocean of vices in an instant. ||40||
basi anavuka bahari-dunia ya dhambi ya kutisha kwa muda mfupi.
ਸਸਾ ਸੋ ਸਹ ਸੇਜ ਸਵਾਰੈ ॥
sasaa so sah sayj savaarai.
Sassa: The bride-soul who adornes her heart with the love of God,
Sassa: Roho kama bi harusi anayepamba moyo wake na upendo wa Mungu,
ਸੋਈ ਸਹੀ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ॥
so-ee sahee sandayh nivaarai.
only that friendly-soul dispels her skepticism.
Roho huyo wa kirafiki pekee anaondoa shaka yake.
ਅਲਪ ਸੁਖ ਛਾਡਿ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਾ ॥
alap sukh chhaad param sukh paavaa.
Renouncing the shallow pleasures of the world, she attains the supreme bliss.
Akikana raha za juujuu za dunia, anasikia raha tele kuu.
ਤਬ ਇਹ ਤ੍ਰੀਅ ਓੁਹੁ ਕੰਤੁ ਕਹਾਵਾ ॥੪੧॥
tab ih taree-a ohu kant kahaavaa. ||41||
Only then she is called the soul-bride of her Husband-God. ||41||
Wakati huo pekee ndio anaitwa bi harusi-roho wa Mume-Mungu wake.
ਹਾਹਾ ਹੋਤ ਹੋਇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਾ ॥
haahaa hot ho-ay nahee jaanaa.
Haaha: God exists, but one does not know His existence.
Haaha: Mungu yupo, lakini mtu hajui kuhusu uwepo wake.
ਜਬ ਹੀ ਹੋਇ ਤਬਹਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥
jab hee ho-ay tabeh man maanaa.
When one realizes His existence, only then one’s mind is appeased.
Wakati mtu anagundua uwepo wake, wakati huo pekee ndio akili ya mtu huyo inaridhishwa.
ਹੈ ਤਉ ਸਹੀ ਲਖੈ ਜਉ ਕੋਈ ॥
hai ta-o sahee lakhai ja-o ko-ee.
Of course God exists but only if one could understand Him.
Bila shaka Mungu yupo lakini iwapo tu mtu angeweza kumwelewa Yeye.
ਤਬ ਓਹੀ ਉਹੁ ਏਹੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੪੨॥
tab ohee uho ayhu na ho-ee. ||42||
Then, He alone exists and not this mortal being. ||42||
Basi, Yeye tu yupo na sio binadamu huyu.
ਲਿੰਉ ਲਿੰਉ ਕਰਤ ਫਿਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਲੋਗੁ ॥
liN-o liN-o karat firai sabh log.
The entire world is running after worldly wealth, and appears to be saying, I want this and I want that.
Dunia nzima inafukuza utajiri wa kidunia, na inaonekana kuwa inasema, nataka hiki na nataka hicho.
ਤਾ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਬਹੁ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
taa kaaran bi-aapai baho sog.
It is for this reason that the entire world is afflicted with so much suffering.
Ni kwa sababu hii ya kwamba dunia nzima imeathiriwa na mateso mengi sana.
ਲਖਿਮੀ ਬਰ ਸਿਉ ਜਉ ਲਿਉ ਲਾਵੈ ॥
lakhimee bar si-o ja-o li-o laavai.
When one imbues oneself with the love of God, the husband of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth,
Wakati mtu anajijaza na upendo wa Mungu, mume wa Lakshmi, mungu-kike wa utajiri,
ਸੋਗੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੪੩॥
sog mitai sabh hee sukh paavai. ||43||
his sorrow departs, and he obtains total peace. ||43||
huzuni yake inaondoka, na anapata amani kamilifu.
ਖਖਾ ਖਿਰਤ ਖਪਤ ਗਏ ਕੇਤੇ ॥
khakhaa khirat khapat ga-ay kaytay.
Khakha: Many have wasted their lives and then perished.
Khakha: Wengi wameharibu maisha yao na kisha wakafa.
ਖਿਰਤ ਖਪਤ ਅਜਹੂੰ ਨਹ ਚੇਤੇ ॥
khirat khapat ajahooN nah chaytay.
In spite of this ruin and wastage, they still do not remember God.
Licha ya uangamizi na uharibifu huu, bado hawamkumbuki Mungu.
ਅਬ ਜਗੁ ਜਾਨਿ ਜਉ ਮਨਾ ਰਹੈ ॥
ab jag jaan ja-o manaa rahai.
But if someone, even in this life, comes to know the transitory nature of the world and attunes his mind to God,
Lakini iwapo mtu, hata katika maisha haya, aje kujua hali ya mpito ya dunia na kumakinisha akili yake kwa Mungu,
ਜਹ ਕਾ ਬਿਛੁਰਾ ਤਹ ਥਿਰੁ ਲਹੈ ॥੪੪॥
jah kaa bichhuraa tah thir lahai. ||44||
he shall find his permanent abode in God’s presence, from whom he was separated. ||44||
atapata makao yake ya kudumu katika uwepo wa Mungu, ambaye alikuwa ametenganishwa kutoka kwake.
