ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਇਆਲ ਓਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਪਾਇ ॥
bhagat tayray da-i-aal onHaa mihar paa-ay.
O’ merciful God, the devotees are Yours, and You show mercy on them.
Ee Mungu mwenye huruma, watawa ni Wako, na Wewe una huruma kwao.
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਵਡ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਪੋਹੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਇ ॥
dookh darad vad rog na pohay tis maa-ay.
Sorrow, pain, terrible disease and Maya does not afflict them.
Huzuni, uchungu, ugonjwa mbaya na Maya haziwaathiri.
ਭਗਤਾ ਏਹੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗਾਇ ॥
bhagtaa ayhu aDhaar gun govind gaa-ay.
Singing praises of God becomes the support of the devotees.
Kuimba sifa za Mungu kunakuwa tegemezo ya watawa.
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਇਕੋ ਇਕੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
sadaa sadaa din rain iko ik Dhi-aa-ay.
and they always remember the one and only God.
Na daima wanakumbuka Mungu Mmoja wa wa kipekee.
ਪੀਵਤਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਹੇ ਅਘਾਇ ॥੧੪॥
peevat amrit naam jan naamay rahay aghaa-ay. ||14||
By partaking the ambrosial nectar of Naam, His humble devotees remain satiated with Naam. ||14||
Kwa kushiriki nekta ya ambrosia ya Naam, watawa wake wanyenyekevu wanabaki wamekinai kwa Naam.

ਕੋਟਿ ਬਿਘਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਾਗਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਨਾਉ ॥
kot bighan tis laagtay jis no visrai naa-o.
Millions of obstacles stand in the way of one who forsakes Naam.
Mamilioni ya vizuizi hyapo katika njia ya yule anayeacha Naam.
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਬਿਲਪਤੇ ਜਿਉ ਸੁੰਞੈ ਘਰਿ ਕਾਉ ॥੧॥
naanak an-din bilpatay ji-o sunjai ghar kaa-o. ||1||
O’ Nanak, such people always cry like a crow in a deserted house. ||1||
Ee Nanak, watu kama hao daima wanalia kama kunguru katika nyumba iliyoachwa mahame.

ਪਿਰੀ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਜਾ ਥੀਐ ਸਾਈ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਰੁਤਿ ॥
piree milaavaa jaa thee-ai saa-ee suhaavee rut.
Beauteous is that season when we are united with the Husband-God.
Ni mzuri msimu huo wakati tunaunganishwa na Mume-Mungu.
ਘੜੀ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਨਹ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਵੀਐ ਨਿਤ ॥੨॥
gharhee muhat nah veesrai naanak ravee-ai nit. ||2||
O’ Nanak, we should not forget Him, even for a moment and we should alwayskeep remembering Him with loving devotion. ||2||
Ee Nanak, hatufai kumsahau Yeye, hata kwa muda mfupi na tunafaa kuendelea kumkumbuka daima kwa ujitoaji wa upendo.

ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਵਰੀਆਮ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਹੋੜੀਐ ॥
soorbeer varee-aam kinai na horhee-ai.
The brave and mighty warriors (the five vices), whom no one has been able to ward off,
Mashujaa jasiri na mwenye nguvu (maovu matano), ambaye hakuna ambaye ameweza kuwafukuza,
ਫਉਜ ਸਤਾਣੀ ਹਾਠ ਪੰਚਾ ਜੋੜੀਐ ॥
fa-uj sataanee haath panchaa jorhee-ai.
these five human impulses of lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego have assembled the stubborn and powerful army.
Misukumo hii tano ya kibinadamu ya ukware, hasira, tamaa, kiambatisho na ubinafsi imekusanya jeshi shupavu la lenye nguvu.
ਦਸ ਨਾਰੀ ਅਉਧੂਤ ਦੇਨਿ ਚਮੋੜੀਐ ॥
das naaree a-uDhoot dayn chamorhee-ai.
The ten sensory organs attach even the recluses with evil pleasures.
Viungo kumi vya hisi vinaambatisha hata wapweke kwa raha mbaya.
ਜਿਣਿ ਜਿਣਿ ਲੈਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਰਲਾਇ ਏਹੋ ਏਨਾ ਲੋੜੀਐ ॥
jin jin lainiH ralaa-ay ayho aynaa lorhee-ai.
Winning over these sensory organs one by one, these vices make them indulge in the evil pleasures and this is what they look for.
Yakishinda viungo hivi vya hisi moja kwa moja, maovu haya yanawafanya wajishughulishe katika raha mbaya na hiyo ndiyo wanayotafuta.
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਇਨ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਮੋੜੀਐ ॥
tarai gun in kai vas kinai na morhee-ai.
All the mortals swayed by the three modes of Maya (vice, virtue, and power) are under their control; no one is able to turn them back.
Binadamu wote wanaoyumbishwa na mbinu tatu za Maya (uovu, fadhila, na nguvu) wamo kayika uthibiti wao; hakuna anayeweza kuwafukuza.
ਭਰਮੁ ਕੋਟੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਖਾਈ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਤੋੜੀਐ ॥
bharam kot maa-i-aa khaa-ee kaho kit biDh torhee-ai.
The running around in doubt is like a fort and the allurement of worldly riches is like a moat around this fort; in what way we could break through this fort?
Kuzurura kwote katika shaka ni kama ngome na kivutio cha utajiri wa kidunia ni handaki linalozunguka ngome hii; tunawezake kutoroka kwa ngome hii?
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਆਰਾਧਿ ਬਿਖਮ ਦਲੁ ਫੋੜੀਐ ॥
gur pooraa aaraaDh bikham dal forhee-ai.
By always remembering God through the perfect Guru, this formidable army can be subdued.
Kwa kumkumbuka Mungu daima kupitia kwa Guru kamili, jeshi hili lenye nguvu linaweza kushindwa.
ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਅਗੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਰਹਾ ਕਰ ਜੋੜੀਐ ॥੧੫॥
ha-o tis agai din raat rahaa kar jorhee-ai. ||15||
I wish that with folded hands, I may always keep standing before that Guru. |15|
Natamani kwamba kwa mikono mikunjufu, niweza kuendelea kusimama mbele ya Guru huyo daima.

ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭੇ ਉਤਰਨਿ ਨੀਤ ਨੀਤ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥
kilvikh sabhay utran neet neet gun gaa-o.
All sins are washed away by continually singing the praises of God.
Dhambi zote zinasafishwa kwa kuimba sifa za Mungu mara kwa mara.
ਕੋਟਿ ਕਲੇਸਾ ਊਪਜਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥
kot kalaysaa oopjahi naanak bisrai naa-o. ||1||
O’ Nanak, millions of afflictions are produced, when Naam is forgotten. ||1||
Ee Nanak, mamilioni ya magonjwa yanazalishwa, wakati Naam inasahauliwa.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਭੇਟਿਐ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੁਗਤਿ ॥
naanak satgur bhayti-ai pooree hovai jugat.
O’ Nanak, meeting the true Guru, we come to learn the righteous way of living.
Ee Nanak, kwa kukutana na Guru wa kweli, tunakuja kujifunza njia ya uadilifu ya kuishi.
ਹਸੰਦਿਆ ਖੇਲੰਦਿਆ ਪੈਨੰਦਿਆ ਖਾਵੰਦਿਆ ਵਿਚੇ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ॥੨॥
hasandi-aa khaylandi-aa painandi-aa khaavandi-aa vichay hovai mukat. ||2||
In this way, liberation from the vices is attained while still laughing, playing, wearing good clothing and enjoying tasty foods. ||2||
Kwa njia hii, ukombozi kutoka maovu unapatwa wakati bado tunacheka, kucheza, kuvaa mavazi mazuri na kufurahia vyakula vitamu.

ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਰਮ ਗੜੁ ਤੋੜਿਆ ॥
so satgur Dhan Dhan jin bharam garh torhi-aa.
Blessed is the Guru who has demolished the fort of our doubt.
Amebarikiwa Guru ambaye amebomoa ngome ya shaka yetu.
ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਜੋੜਿਆ ॥
so satgur vaahu vaahu jin har si-o jorhi-aa.
Wonderful and worthy of praise is that Guru who has united us with God.
Guru huyo ni mzuri na anastahili kusifiwa ambaye ametuunganisha na Mungu.
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਅਖੁਟੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਇ ਦਾਰੂਓ ॥
naam niDhaan akhut gur day-ay daroo-o.
The Guru has given the inexhaustible treasure of Naam as a medicine,
Guru ametoa hazina ya Naam isiyoweza kuisha kama dawa,
ਮਹਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ਤਿਨੈ ਬਿਦਾਰੂਓ ॥
mahaa rog bikraal tinai bidaroo-o.
which has completely cured the extremely dreadful malady of ego.
Ambayo imetibu kikamilifu ugonjwa mbaya zaidi wa ubinafsi.
ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਖਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
paa-i-aa naam niDhaan bahut khajaani-aa.
The one who has obtained the most precious treasure of Naam,
Yule ambaye amepata hazina yenye thamani zaidi ya Naam,
ਜਿਤਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥
jitaa janam apaar aap pachhaani-aa.
has recognizing his own self and has won the game of precious human life.
Amejitambua mwenyewe na ameshinda mchezo wa maisha ya kibinadamu yenye thamani.
ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਗੁਰ ਸਮਰਥ ਦੇਵ ॥
mahimaa kahee na jaa-ay gur samrath dayv.
The glory of the all-powerful divine Guru cannot be described.
Utukufu wa Guru mtakatifu mwenye nguvu zote hauwezi kuelezwa.
ਗੁਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵ ॥੧੬॥
gur paarbarahm parmaysur aprampar alakh abhayv. ||16||
The Guru is the embodiment of the supreme God who is incomprehensible andinfinite. ||16||
Guru ndiye udhihirisho wa kimwili wa Mungu mkuu ambaye hawezi kueleweka na ambaye hana mwisho.

ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰੇਦਿਆ ਜੀਉ ਤੂੰ ਕਮਾਵਦਿਆ ਸੁਖ ਭੁੰਚੁ ॥
udam karaydi-aa jee-o tooN kamaavdi-aa sukh bhunch.
Spiritual life rejuvenates by making an effort of remembering God; you will enjoy the spiritual peace by earning the wealth of Naam.
Maisha ya kiroho yanasisimua kwa kufanya jitihada ya kumkumbuka Mungu; utafurahia amani ya kiroho kwa kuchuma utajiri wa Naam.
ਧਿਆਇਦਿਆ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤਰੀ ਚਿੰਤ ॥੧॥
Dhi-aa-idi-aa tooN parabhoo mil naanak utree chint. ||1||
O’ Nanak, by remembering God you would realize God and all your anxiety would vanish. ||1||
Ee Nanak, kwa kumkumbuka Mungu utagundua Mungu na wasiwasi wako wote utapotea.

ਸੁਭ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਰਮਣ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ॥
subh chintan gobind raman nirmal saaDhoo sang.
I may participate in the immaculate congregation of saintly persons, meditate on God and think of virtuous deeds,
Naweza kushiriki katika ushirika safi wa watu watakatifu, kutafakari kuhusu Mungu na kufikiria vitendo vyema,
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਰਉ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥੨॥
naanak naam na visra-o ik gharhee kar kirpaa bhagvant. ||2||
O’ God, bestow Your mercy on me, Nanak, so that I may never forget Naam even for an instant. ||2||
Ee Mungu, tawaza huruma yako kwangu, Nanak, ili kamwe nisiwahi sahau Naam hata kwa muda mfupi.

ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇ ਤ ਕਾਹੇ ਡਰਪੀਐ ॥
tayraa keetaa ho-ay ta kaahay darpee-ai.
O’ God, whatever happens is according to Your will, so why should we be afraid?
Ee Mungu, chochote kinachotendeka ni kulingana na mapenzi yako, sasa kwa nini tuwe na hofu?
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੀਉ ਅਰਪੀਐ ॥
jis mil japee-ai naa-o tis jee-o arpee-ai.
We should surrender our self to the one, meeting whom we meditate on Naam.
Tunafaa kusalimisha nafsi yetu kwa yule, ambaye kwa kukutana naye tunatafakari kuhusu Naam.
ਆਇਐ ਚਿਤਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਬੇਸੁਮਾਰ ॥
aa-i-ai chit nihaal saahib baysumaar.
We become delighted when we realize the infinite God residing in our heart.
Tunafurahia wakati tunagundua Mungu asiye na mwisho akiishi moyoni mwetu.
ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਪੋਹੇ ਕਵਣੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਲਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥
tis no pohay kavan jis val nirankaar.
No one can touch the one on whose side is the Formless God.
Hakuna mtu anaweza kugusa yule ambaye Mungu asiye na muundo yu katika pande yake.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਬਾਹਰਾ ॥
sabh kichh tis kai vas na ko-ee baahraa.
Everything is under His control; no one is beyond Him.
Kila kitu kipo katika uthibiti wake; hakuna mtu anayemzidi Yeye.
ਸੋ ਭਗਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਰਾ ॥
so bhagtaa man vuthaa sach samaaharaa.
God is residing in the minds of His devotees and is enshrined in their hearts.
Mungu anaishi katika akili za watawa wake na amethaminiwa katika mioyo yao.
ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਤੂੰ ਰਖਣ ਵਾਲਿਆ ॥
tayray daas Dhi-aa-in tuDh tooN rakhan vaali-aa.
O’ God, Your devotees always remember You and You are their savior.
Ee Mungu, watawa wako daima wanakukumbuka Wewe na Wewe ndiwe mwokozi wao.
