ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਏ ਪੇਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਖਾਤ ॥
taripat aghaa-ay paykh parabh darsan amrit har ras bhojan khaat.
Beholding God’s blessed vision, they remain fully satiated from Maya; they partake the ambrosial nectar of God’s Name as their spiritual nutrition.
Wakitazama mwono uliobarikiwa wa Mungu, wanabaki wametoshelezwa kabisa kutoka kwa Maya; wanashiriki nekta ya ambrosia ya Jina la Mungu kama lishe yao ya kiroho.
ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਤ ॥੨॥੪॥੮੪॥
charan saran naanak parabh tayree kar kirpaa satsang milaat. ||2||4||84||
O’ Nanak! say, O’ God! those who take the support of Your immaculate Name, bestowing mercy, You unite them with the true saints. ||2||4||84||

God Himself has always saved His devotees.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਨੋ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਏ ਸਭ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirpaa har har naam deeno binas ga-ay sabh sog santaap. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Bestowing mercy, God blesses them with His Name, and all their sorrows and sufferings vanish. ||1||Pause||
Akitawaza huruma, Mungu anawabariki na Jina lake, na huzuni na mateso yao yote yanapotea.||1||Sitisha||
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸਭਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਰਾਗ ਰਤਨ ਰਸਨਾ ਆਲਾਪ ॥
gun govind gaavhu sabh har jan raag ratan rasnaa aalaap.
O’ the devotees of God, all of you should sing the praises of God; chant with your tongue His praises through the jewel-like beautiful melodies.
Ee watawa wa Mungu, nyinyi wote mnafaa kuimba sifa za Mungu; imba kwa ulimi wako sifa zake kupitia melodia nzuri kama kito.
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਨਿਵਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣਿ ਆਤਮ ਧ੍ਰਾਪ ॥੧॥
kot janam kee tarisnaa nivree raam rasaa-in aatam Dharaap. ||1||
The fierce desire of millions of births for worldly riches is quenched; the soulgets satiated with the elixir of God’s Name. ||1||
Hamu kali ya mamilioni ya kuzaliwa kwingi ya utajiri wa kidunia inazimwa; roho inatoshelezwa na dawa ya Jina la Mungu.
ਚਰਣ ਗਹੇ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਜਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪ ॥
charan gahay saran sukh-daatay gur kai bachan japay har jaap.
Those who always lovingly remember God through the Guru’s teachings and keep God, the giver of peace, enshrined in their mind,
Wale ambao daima wanakumbuka Mungu kwa upendo kupitia mafundisho ya Guru na wanaweka Mungu, mpaji wa amani, amethaminiwa akilini mwao,
ਸਾਗਰ ਤਰੇ ਭਰਮ ਭੈ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥੨॥੫॥੮੫॥
saagar taray bharam bhai binsay kaho naanak thaakur partaap. ||2||5||85||
all their dreads and doubts are destroyed and they swim across the world-ocean of vices; Nanak says, all this is the grandeur of the Master-God. ||2||5||85||
hofu na shaka zao zote zinaangamizwa na wanaogelea wakivuka bahari-dunia ya dhambi; Nanak anasema, yote hii ni adhama ya Bwana-Mungu.

The divine-Guru has subdued the fever (of his son Hargobing).
Mtakatifu-Guru ameshinda homa kali (ya mwanaye Hargobing).
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੀ ਸਾਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satgur apnay ka-o bal jaa-ee jin paij rakhee saarai sansaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I am dedicated to my true Guru who has saved my honor in the entire world. ||1||Pause||
Mimi nimewekwa wakfu kwa Guru wangu wa kweli ambaye ameokoa staha yangu katika dunia nzima. ||1||Sitisha||
ਕਰੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਬਾਲਿਕੁ ਰਖਿ ਲੀਨੋ ॥
kar mastak Dhaar baalik rakh leeno.
Extending His support, God saved the child.
Akinyoosha tegemezo yake, Mungu aliokoa mtoto huyo.
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਦੀਨੋ ॥੧॥
parabh amrit naam mahaa ras deeno. ||1||
God has blessed me with the sublime ambrosial nectar of Naam. ||1||
Mungu amenibariki na nekta tukufu ya ambrosia ya Naam.
ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਲਾਜ ਰਖੈ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
daas kee laaj rakhai miharvaan.
The Merciful God saves the honor of His devotee.
Mungu mwenye Huruma anaokoa staha ya mtawa wake.
ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੨॥੬॥੮੬॥
gur naanak bolai dargeh parvaan. ||2||6||86||
Guru Nanak utters only that, what is approved in God’s presence. ||2||6||86||.

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
Mungu Mmoja wa milele, anayegunduliwa kwa neema ya Guru wa Kweli:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਉਜਾਰੋ ਦੀਪਾ ॥
satgur sabad ujaaro deepaa.
The mind which is spiritually enlightened by the lamp-like Guru’s divine word.
Akili ambayo imeangazwa kiroho na neno takatifu la Guru kama taa.
ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਤਿਹ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਰਤਨ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਅਨੂਪਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
binsi-o anDhkaar tih mandar ratan koth-rhee khulHee anoopaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Darkness of ignorance vanishes from that temple-like mind, and it becomes so virtuous as if a beautiful room full of jewels is opened up. ||1||Pause||
Giza ya ujinga inapotea kutoka kwa akili hiyo kama hekalu, na inakuwa mwema mno kana kwamba chumba kizuri chenye vito kimefunguliwa. ||1||Sitisha||
ਬਿਸਮਨ ਬਿਸਮ ਭਏ ਜਉ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
bisman bisam bha-ay ja-o paykhi-o kahan na jaa-ay vadi-aa-ee.
When one realized God dwelling within, he became so amazed that its glory cannot be described.
Wakati mtu aligundua Mungu anayeishi ndani mwake, yeye alistaajabishwa mno hadi utukufu wake hauwezi kuelezwa.
ਮਗਨ ਭਏ ਊਹਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਤੇ ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਲਪਟਾਈ ॥੧॥
magan bha-ay oohaa sang maatay ot pot laptaa-ee. ||1||
One becomes so elated that he feels as if he is through and through imbued with God’s love. ||1||
Mtu anahisi furaha sana hadi anahisi kana kwamba amepenyezwa na upendo wa Mungu kabisa kabisa.
ਆਲ ਜਾਲ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੂ ਜੰਜਾਰਾ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਨਹੀ ਭੋਰਾ ॥
aal jaal nahee kachhoo janjaaraa ahaN-buDh nahee bhoraa.
Now one is not affected by the worldly entanglements, and not even a trace of egoistic intellect remains.
Sasa mtu haathiriwi na misongamano ya kidunia, na hakuna hata chembe cha uwekevu wenye ubinafsi unasalia.
ਊਚਨ ਊਚਾ ਬੀਚੁ ਨ ਖੀਚਾ ਹਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਮੋਰਾ ॥੨॥
oochan oochaa beech na kheechaa ha-o tayraa tooN moraa. ||2||
Then one feels God, the highest of the high, is dwelling in the mind and there is no veil between us; O’ God I am Your devotee and You are my Master. ||2||
Kisha mtu anahisi Mungu, aliye juu zaidi kwa wote, anaishi akilini na hakuna shela kati yao; Ee Mungu mimi ni mtawa wako na Wewe ndiwe Bwana wangu.
ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ਏਕੈ ਅਪਰ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
aykankaar ayk paasaaraa aykai apar apaaraa.
There is only one Creator-God, this universe is His expanse; He is infinite and His virtues are beyond limits.
Kuna Muumba-Mungu mmoja peke yake, ulimwengu huu ni upanuzi wake; Yeye hana mwisho na fadhila zake zimezidi vikomo.
ਏਕੁ ਬਿਸਥੀਰਨੁ ਏਕੁ ਸੰਪੂਰਨੁ ਏਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
ayk bistheeran ayk sampooran aykai paraan aDhaaraa. ||3||
It is that one God who is pervading everywhere and is perfect in every way; He alone is the support of every life. ||3||
Ni Mungu huyo mmoja ambaye anaenea kote naye ni kamili kwa njia zote; Yeye peke yake ndiye tegemezo ya kila uhai.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੂਚਾ ਸੂਚੋ ਸੂਚਾ ਸੂਚੋ ਸੂਚਾ ॥
nirmal nirmal soochaa soocho soochaa soocho soochaa.
God is the most immaculate of the immaculate and the purest of the pure.
Mungu ndiye safi kabisa kwa wote na ndiye mweupe kabisa kwa wote.
ਅੰਤ ਨ ਅੰਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਬੇਅੰਤਾ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਊਚੋ ਊਚਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੮੭॥
ant na antaa sadaa bay-antaa kaho naanak oocho oochaa. ||4||1||87||
Nanak says, God’s virtues are beyond limits, He is forever infinite and the highest of the high. ||4||1||87||
Nanak anasema, fadhila za Mungu zimezidi vikomo, Yeye milele hana mwisho na ni wa juu zaidi kwa wote.

O’ brother, except for God’s Name, nothing else is of any use for your spiritual advancement.
Ee ndugu, isipokuwa Jina la Mungu, hakuna kitu kingine kina manufaa yoyote kwa maendeleo yako ya kiroho.
ਜਾ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਚਿ ਮਾਚਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਲਾਗੇ ਓਹ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਮੋਹਾਵਤ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaa si-o raach maach tumH laagay oh mohnee mohaavat hay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
That Maya, with whom you are totally attached, is deceiving you. ||1||Pause||
Maya huyo, ambayo umeambatishwa kwake kikamilifu, anakudanganya. ||1||Sitisha||
ਕਨਿਕ ਕਾਮਿਨੀ ਸੇਜ ਸੋਹਨੀ ਛੋਡਿ ਖਿਨੈ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਵਤ ਹੇ ॥
kanik kaaminee sayj sohnee chhod khinai meh jaavat hay.
O’ brother, you shall have to depart in an instant leaving behind your possessions such as gold and the company of your beloved.
Ee ndugu, utalazimika kuondoka papo hapo ukiacha nyuma mali yako kama vile dhahabu na uandamano wa mpendwa wako.
ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਰਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਓ ਬਿਖੈ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਖਾਵਤ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
urajh rahi-o indree ras parayri-o bikhai thag-uree khaavat hay. ||1||
Encouraged and engrossed in the sensual pleasures, you are entangled in sinful acts as if you are consuming an intoxicating drug pushing you in vices. ||1||
Ukichochewa na kuvama katika raha za hisi, umenaswa katika vitendo vya dhambi kana kwamba unakula dawa ya kulevya inayokusukuma kwenye maovu.
ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਕੋ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਓ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਤਲੈ ਜਰਾਵਤ ਹੇ ॥
tarin ko mandar saaj savaari-o paavak talai jaraavat hay.
O’ brother, you are destroying your spiritual life with the fire of vices, like the one who builds a house of straw, adornes it and then lights fire under it.
Ee ndugu, unaangamiza maisha yako ya kiroho kwa moto wa maovu, kama yule anayejenga nyumba kwa nyasi, kuipamba na kisha kuwasha moto chini yake.
ਐਸੇ ਗੜ ਮਹਿ ਐਠਿ ਹਠੀਲੋ ਫੂਲਿ ਫੂਲਿ ਕਿਆ ਪਾਵਤ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
aisay garh meh aith hatheelo fool fool ki-aa paavat hay. ||2||
O’ the arrogant and stubborn person, sitting all puffed up in this body-fort (burning in the fire of vices), what are you getting? ||2||
Ee mtu mwenye kiburi na mkaidi, ukikaa kwa fahari katika mwili-ngome huu (ukichomeka katika moto wa maovu), unafaidika vipi?
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਮੂਡ ਪਰਿ ਠਾਢੇ ਕੇਸ ਗਹੇ ਫੇਰਾਵਤ ਹੇ ॥
panch doot mood par thaadhay kays gahay fayraavat hay.
The five demons (lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego) hovering over your head are degrading you, as if holding by your hair and moving you around.
Mapepo watano (ukware, hasira, tamaa, kiambatisho, na ubinafsi)wanaoning’inia juu ya kichwa chako wanakudhoofisha, kana kwamba wameshika nywele zako na wanakuvuta nazo.
