ਆਪਿ ਛਡਾਏ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੪॥
aap chhadaa-ay chhutee-ai satgur charan samaal. ||4||
It is only when God Himself saves us by making us remember Guru’s word that we are liberated from worldly bonds.
Ni wakati tu Mungu Mwenyewe anatuokoa kwa kutufanya tukumbuke neno la Guru ambapo tunakombolewa kutoka vifungo vya kidunia.
ਮਨ ਕਰਹਲਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੇਹੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
man karhalaa mayray pi-aari-aa vich dayhee jot samaal.
O my dear beloved camel-like mind, the Divine light is enshrined in your body. keep it safe.
Ee akili yangu mpendwa kama ngamia, mwanga Takatifu umethaminiwa mwilini wako, uweke salama.
ਗੁਰਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਖਾਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਦਇਆਲਿ ॥੫॥
gur na-o niDh naam vikhaali-aa har daat karee da-i-aal. ||5|||
The one to whom the Guru has shown Naam, which is precious like nine treasures, the merciful God has bestowed this blessing of Naam on him.
Kwa yule ambaye Guru ameonyesha Naam, ambayo ina thamana kama hazina tisa, Mungu mwenye huruma ametawaza baraka hii ya Naam kwake.
ਮਨ ਕਰਹਲਾ ਤੂੰ ਚੰਚਲਾ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਛਡਿ ਵਿਕਰਾਲਿ ॥
man karhalaa tooN chanchlaa chaturaa-ee chhad vikraal.
O’ my camel-like fickle mind, give up your hideous cleverness
Ee akili yangu isiyo na msimamo kama ngamia, achana na uwerevu wako wa kuchukiza.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਅੰਤ ਕਾਲਿ ॥੬॥
har har naam samaal tooN har mukat karay ant kaal. ||6||
Remember God’s Name with love and devotion, which will save you in the end.
Kumbuka Jina la Mungu kwa upendo na kujitolea, ambalo litakuokoa mwishowe.
ਮਨ ਕਰਹਲਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਆ ਤੂੰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
man karhalaa vadbhaagee-aa tooN gi-aan ratan samaal.
O’ my fortunate camel-like mind, keep safe the jewel of spiritual wisdom.
Ee akili yangu kama ngamia iliyo na bahati nzuri, weka salama johari ya hekima ya kiroho.
ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਖੜਗੁ ਹਥਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ਜਮੁ ਮਾਰਿਅੜਾ ਜਮਕਾਲਿ ॥੭॥
gur gi-aan kharhag hath Dhaari-aa jam maari-arhaa jamkaal. ||7||
The Guru’s spiritual knowledge is like a double-edged sword, and the person who holds it in his hand has slayed the demon (fear) of death.
Maarifa ya kiroho ya Guru ni kama upanga wenye makali kuwili, na mtu anayeushika mkononi mwake ameangamiza pepo (hofu) wa kifo.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਮਨ ਕਰਹਲੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭਵਹਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭਾਲਿ ॥
antar niDhaan man karhalay bharam bhaveh baahar bhaal.
O’ my camel-like mind, the treasure of God’s Name is deep within, but you are wandering around in doubt, searching for it outside.
Ee akili yangu kama ngamia, hazina ya Jina la Mungu ipo ndani mwako kwa kina, lakini unazurura kote kwa shaka, ukiitafuta kule nje.
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਲਧੜਾ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੮॥
gur purakh pooraa bhayti-aa har sajan laDh-rhaa naal. ||8||
Meeting the Perfect Guru, the Primal Being, one finds God, the best friend within.
Kwa kukutana na Guru Kamili, Kiumbe cha Asili, mtu anampata Mungu, rafiki wa dhati ndani mwake.
ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੜੇ ਮਨ ਕਰਹਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
rang rat-rhay man karhalay har rang sadaa samaal.
O’ my camel-like mind, you are engrossed in worldly pleasures; preserve God’s lasting love instead.
Ee akili yangu kama ngamia, umevama katika raha za kidunia; badala yake hifadhi upendo wa Mungu unaodumu.
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੯॥
har rang kaday na utrai gur sayvaa sabad samaal. ||9||
God’s Love never fades away; to obtain it follow the Guru’s word and enshrine it in your heart.
Upendo wa Mungu kamwe haufifii; ili kuupata fuata neno la Guru na ulithamini moyoni mwako.
ਹਮ ਪੰਖੀ ਮਨ ਕਰਹਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਕਾਲਿ ॥
ham pankhee man karhalay har tarvar purakh akaal.
O’ my camel-like mind, we are all like the wandering birds and the eternal God like a tree is our support,
Ee akili yangu kama ngamia, sisi sote ni kama ndege wanaozurura na Mungu wa milele kama mti ni tegemezo yetu,
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੧੦॥੨॥
vadbhaagee gurmukh paa-i-aa jan naanak naam samaal. ||10||2||
O’ Nanak, only the very fortunate Guru’s follower has been able to unite with God, by always meditating on His Name.
Ee Nanak, ni mfuasi wa Guru mwenye bahati mno pekee ameweza kuungana na Mungu, kwa kutafakari daima kuhusu Jina lake.

ik-oNkaar satnaam kartaa purakh gur parsaad.
One unique Eternal God. Creator Being. Realized by the Guru’s grace:
Mungu Mmoja wa kipekee na wa Milele. Kiumbe Anayeumba. Anayegunduliwa kwa neema ya Guru.
ਜਬ ਇਹੁ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਤ ਗੁਮਾਨਾ ॥
jab ih man meh karat gumaanaa.
When one feels proud and egoistic about his greatness.
Wakati mtu anahisi fahari na ubinafsi kuhusu ukuu wake.
ਤਬ ਇਹੁ ਬਾਵਰੁ ਫਿਰਤ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥
tab ih baavar firat bigaanaa.
then this person mad with ego wanders around like a stranger to others.
Basi mtu huyo ambaye ana kichaa cha ubinafsi anazurura kote kama aliye mgeni kwa wengine.
ਜਬ ਇਹੁ ਹੂਆ ਸਗਲ ਕੀ ਰੀਨਾ ॥
jab ih hoo-aa sagal kee reenaa.
But when he becomes the dust of all (humble),
Lakini wakati anakuwa mchanga wa wote (mnyenyekevu),
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਰਮਈਆ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਚੀਨਾ ॥੧॥
taa tay rama-ee-aa ghat ghat cheenaa. ||1||
then he recognizes God in each and every heart.
Basi anatambua Mungu katika kila moyo.
ਸਹਜ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਫਲੁ ਮਸਕੀਨੀ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਮੋਹਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sahj suhaylaa fal maskeenee. satgur apunai mohi daan deenee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
My True Guru has given me this gift of humility. As a result, I am intuitively enjoying spiritual equipoise and peace.
Guru wangu wa Kweli amenipa tuzo hii ya unyenyekevu. Kwa matokeo yake, nafurahia usawa wa kiroho na amani kwa hisia na silika.
ਜਬ ਕਿਸ ਕਉ ਇਹੁ ਜਾਨਸਿ ਮੰਦਾ
jab kis ka-o ih jaanas mandaa.
As when he believes others to be bad,
Wakati anaamini wengine kuwa wabaya,
ਤਬ ਸਗਲੇ ਇਸੁ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਫੰਦਾ ॥
tab saglay is mayleh fandaa.
then it appears to him that everyone is laying a trap for him.
Basi anaona ni kama kila mtu anamwekea mtego.
ਮੇਰ ਤੇਰ ਜਬ ਇਨਹਿ ਚੁਕਾਈ ॥
mayr tayr jab ineh chukaa-ee.
But when he stops thinking in terms of ‘mine’ and ‘yours’
Lakini wakati anaacha kufikiria kwa msingi wa ‘yangu’ na ‘yako’
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਇਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਹੀ ਬੈਰਾਈ ॥੨॥
taa tay is sang nahee bairaa-ee. ||2||
then it is easy for him to believe that no one is his enemy.
Basi ni rahisi yeye kuamini kwamba hakuna mtu ni adui wake.
ਜਬ ਇਨਿ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਅਪਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
jab in apunee apnee Dhaaree.
As long a person cares for only his self interests,
Ili mradi mtu anajali masilahi yake binafsi pekee,
ਤਬ ਇਸ ਕਉ ਹੈ ਮੁਸਕਲੁ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
tab is ka-o hai muskal bhaaree.
till then he is in deep trouble.
Hadi wakati huo yu katika shida kubwa.
ਜਬ ਇਨਿ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
jab in karnaihaar pachhaataa.
But when he recognizes the Creator, God,
Lakini wakati anatambua Muumba, Mungu,
ਤਬ ਇਸ ਨੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਾਤਾ ॥੩॥
tab is no naahee kichh taataa. ||3||
then he feels no jealousy.
Wakati huo hahisi ushoyo wowote.
ਜਬ ਇਨਿ ਅਪੁਨੋ ਬਾਧਿਓ ਮੋਹਾ ॥
jab in apuno baaDhi-o mohaa.
As long as he remains entangled in emotional attachment,
Ili mradi anabaki amenaswa katika kiambatisho cha kihisia,
ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ਸਦਾ ਜਮਿ ਜੋਹਾ ॥
aavai jaa-ay sadaa jam johaa.
till then he remains in cycles of birth and death, under the constant gaze of demon of death.
Hadi wakati huo anabaki katika mizunguko ya kuzaliwa na kufa, kwenye mkazo wa macho ya pepo wa kifo.
ਜਬ ਇਸ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਭਰਮਾ ॥
jab is tay sabh binsay bharmaa.
But when all his doubts are removed,
Lakini wakati shaka zake zote zinaondolewa,
ਭੇਦੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਹੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ॥੪॥
bhayd naahee hai paarbrahmaa. ||4||
then there is no difference between him and the Supreme God.
Basi hakuna tofauti kati yake na Mungu Mkuu.
ਜਬ ਇਨਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੇ ਭੇਦਾ ॥
jab in kichh kar maanay bhaydaa.
As long he perceives differences with others,
Ili mradi anaona tofauti na wengine,
ਤਬ ਤੇ ਦੂਖ ਡੰਡ ਅਰੁ ਖੇਦਾ ॥
tab tay dookh dand ar khaydaa.
till then he suffers punishment of pains and sorrows.
Hadi wakati huo anateseka adhabu ya maumivu na huzuni.
ਜਬ ਇਨਿ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੀ ਬੂਝਿਆ ॥
jab in ayko aykee boojhi-aa.
But when he understands that one and only God pervades every where,
Lakini wakati anaelewa kwamba Mungu Mmoja na wa pekee anaenea kote,
ਤਬ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੋ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੂਝਿਆ ॥੫॥
tab tay is no sabh kichh soojhi-aa. ||5||
then he understands everything about righteous living.
Basi anaelewa kila kitu kuhusu kuishi kiadilifu.
ਜਬ ਇਹੁ ਧਾਵੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਰਥੀ ॥
jab ih Dhaavai maa-i-aa arthee.
As long as he is dependent on worldly riches and runs around after them,
Ili mradi anategemea utajiri wa kidunia na anaufukuza kote,
ਨਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵੈ ਨਹ ਤਿਸ ਲਾਥੀ ॥
nah tariptaavai nah tis laathee.
till then he is not satisfied, and his desires are not quenched.
Basi haridhishwi, na tamaa zake hazizimwi.
ਜਬ ਇਸ ਤੇ ਇਹੁ ਹੋਇਓ ਜਉਲਾ ॥
jab is tay ih ho-i-o ja-ulaa.
But when he runs away from Maya, (worldly riches)
Lakini wakati anatoroka Maya, (utajiri wa kidunia)
ਪੀਛੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਚਲੀ ਉਠਿ ਕਉਲਾ ॥੬॥
peechhai laag chalee uth ka-ulaa. ||6||
then the goddess of Wealth follows him.
Basi mungu-kike wa Utajiri anamfuata.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਓ ॥
kar kirpaa ja-o satgur mili-o.
When, by His Grace, the True Guru is met,
Wakati, kwa Neema Yake, Guru wa Kweli anapatikana,
ਮਨ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਿ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਜਲਿਓ ॥
man mandar meh deepak jali-o.
then the lamp of spiritual knowledge lit in the mind.
Basi nuru ya maarifa ya kiroho inawashwa akilini.
ਜੀਤ ਹਾਰ ਕੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਕਰੀ ॥
jeet haar kee sojhee karee.
When one realizes what is the real victory and the defeat in human life,
Wakati mtu anagundua kilicho ushindi na kushindwa halisi katika maisha ya binadamu,
ਤਉ ਇਸੁ ਘਰ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਰੀ ॥੭॥
ta-o is ghar kee keemat paree. ||7||
then one realizes the worth of this body. (then one does not ruin it in vices).
Basi mtu anagundua thamani ya mwili huu. (kisha mtu hauuharibu kwa maovu).
