ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਆ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਸਭਾਗਾ ॥
har har naam japi-aa aaraaDhi-aa mukh mastak bhaag sabhaagaa.
Then he started meditating and contemplating on God’s Name and realized his prordained good fortunate.
Kisha akaanza kutafakari na kuwaza kwa makini kuhusu Jina la Mungu na akagundua bahati yake nzuri iliyoagiziwa mapema.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
jan naanak har kirpaa Dhaaree man har har meethaa laa-ay jee-o.
Devotee Nanak says, the person on whom God bestowed mercy, His Name seems sweet to the mind of that person.
Mtawa Nanak anasema, mtu ambaye Mungu anatawazia huruma, Jina Lake linaonekana tamu kwa akili ya mtu huyo.
ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਪਾਖਣ ਹਮ ਤਾਰਹੁ ਕਢਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੨॥
har da-i-aa parabh Dhaarahu paakhan ham taarahu kadh layvhu sabad subhaa-ay jee-o. ||4||5||12||
O’ God, show mercy and carry the stone hearted sinners like us across the worldly ocean of vices and intuitively pull us out of the swamp of emotional attachments. ||4||5||12||
Ee Mungu, onyesha huruma na ubebe watenda dhambi wenye mioyo migumu na kuwavukisha bahari ya kidunia ya dhambi na utuvute kutoka kwa bwawa la viambatisho vya kidunia kisilika.

ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਨਿ ਚਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥
man naam japaanaa har har man bhaanaa har bhagat janaa man chaa-o jee-o.
God’s devotees always meditate on Naam in their minds, God’s Name seems sweet to their minds and in their minds there always remains a craving to meditate on God’s Name.
Watawa wa Mungu wanatafakari daima kuhusu Naam katika akili zao, Jina la Mungu linaonekana tamu kwa akili zao na akilini mwao kunasalia daima hamu ya kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu.
ਜੋ ਜਨ ਮਰਿ ਜੀਵੇ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੇ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥
jo jan mar jeevay tinH amrit peevay man laagaa gurmat bhaa-o jee-o.
Those devotees who remain imbued with God’s love, by following the Guru’s teachings; they partake the ambrosial nectar of Naam, eradicate self-conceit and remain spiritually alive.
Watawa hao ambao wanabaki wamejawa na upendo wa Mungu, kwa kufuata mafundisho ya Guru; wanashiriki nekta ya ambrosia ya Naam, wanaondoa majivuno binafsi na kubaki hai kiroho.
ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਪਸਾਉ ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
man har har bhaa-o gur karay pasaa-o jeevan mukat sukh ho-ee.
Love for God develops in the mind of those upon whom the Guru is gracious, and even while performing their worldly duties, they remain liberated from worldly bonds and live in peace.
Upendo wa Mungu unasitawi akilini mwa wale ambao Guru anawaonyesha neema, na hata wakati wanatenda majukumu yao ya kidunia, wanabaki wamekombolewa kutoka vifungo vya kidunia na wanaishi kwa amani.
ਜੀਵਣਿ ਮਰਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸੋਈ ॥
jeevan maran har naam suhaylay man har har hirdai so-ee.
They always (from birth to death) live in celestial peace by meditating on that God’s Name who is enshrined in their hearts.
Daima (kutoka kuzaliwa hadi kufa) wanaishi katika amani ya kimbingu kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu huyo ambaye amethaminiwa mioyoni mwao.
ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਗਟਾਕ ਪੀਆਉ ਜੀਉ ॥
man har har vasi-aa gurmat har rasi-aa har har ras gataak pee-aa-o jee-o.
God is enshrined in their hearts; through the Guru’s teachings they enjoy the elixir of God’s Name, as if they drink the elixir of God’s Name in big gulps.
Mungu amethaminiwa katika mioyo yao; kupitia mafundisho ya Guru wanafurahia dawa ya Jina la Mungu, kana kwamba wanakunywa dawa ya Jina la Mungu kwa mafunda makubwa.

ਜਗਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਭਾਇਆ ਨਿਤ ਆਪੁ ਲੁਕਾਇਆ ਮਤ ਜਮੁ ਪਕਰੈ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
jag maran na bhaa-i-aa nit aap lukaa-i-aa mat jam pakrai lai jaa-ay jee-o.
The people of the world do not like death; they try to hide from it. They are afraid that the demon of death may catch them and take them away.
Watu wa dunia hawapendi kifo; wanajaribu kujificha kutoka kwake. Wanahofia kwamba pepo wa kifo anaweza kuwakamata na kuwaondosha.
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੋ ਇਹੁ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਰਖਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
har antar baahar har parabh ayko ih jee-arhaa rakhi-aa na jaa-ay jee-o.
But the same one God is within the body and outside; this soul cannot be concealed from Him.
Lakini Mungu huyo Mmoja yupo ndani mwa mwili na nje pia; roho hii haiwezi kufichwa kutoka kwake.
ਕਿਉ ਜੀਉ ਰਖੀਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਲੋੜੀਜੈ ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਵਸਤੁ ਸੋ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
ki-o jee-o rakheejai har vasat lorheejai jis kee vasat so lai jaa-ay jee-o.
How can one save one’s soul? God, to whom it belongs, takes it back when He desires.
Mtu anawezaje kuokoa roho yake? Mungu, ambaye kila kitu ni chake, anaichukua roho wakati anapotaka.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਰਣ ਪਲਾਵ ਕਰਿ ਭਰਮੇ ਸਭਿ ਅਉਖਧ ਦਾਰੂ ਲਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
manmukh karan palaav kar bharmay sabh a-ukhaDh daaroo laa-ay jee-o.
The self-willed persons wander around in pathetic lamentation, trying all medicines and remedies.
Watu wenye hiari binafsi wanazurura kote katika kuomboleza kwa kusikitisha, wakijaribu tiba dawa na tiba zote.
ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਵਸਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲਏ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਨ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
jis kee vasat parabh la-ay su-aamee jan ubray sabad kamaa-ay jee-o.
God, to whom this soul belongs, takes it back; however, the devotees are saved from the fear of death by following the Guru’s teachings.
Mungu, ambaye roho hii ni yake, anaichukua; hata hivyo, watawa wanaokolewa kutoka hofu ya kifo kwa kufuata mafundisho ya Guru.
ਜਗਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਭਾਇਆ ਨਿਤ ਆਪੁ ਲੁਕਾਇਆ ਮਤ ਜਮੁ ਪਕਰੈ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

Dhur maran likhaa-i-aa gurmukh sohaa-i-aa jan ubray har har Dhi-aan jee-o.
The predestined death seems beautiful to the Guru’s followers, these devotees escape the fear of death by remaining attuned to meditation on God.
Kifo kilichoagiziwa mapema kinaonekana kizuri kwa wafuasi wa Guru, watawa hao wanaepuka hofu ya kifo kwa kubaki wamemakinikia kutafakari kwa Mungu.
ਹਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧੇ ਜਾਨਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
har sobhaa paa-ee har naam vadi-aa-ee har dargeh paiDhay jaan jee-o.
By meditating on God’s Name, they obtain honor and glory in this world and go to God’s presence with honor.
Kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu, wanapata staha na utukufu duniani humu na wanaenda kwa uwepo wa Mungu na staha.
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਸੀਧੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
har dargeh paiDhay har naamai seeDhay har naamai tay sukh paa-i-aa.
By meditating on God’s Name they enjoy the celestial peace, attain the goal of human life and receive honor in God’s presence.
Kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu wanafurahia amani ya kimbingu, wanatimiza lengo la maisha ya kibinadamu na kupokea staha katika uwepo wa Mungu. .
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੋਵੈ ਦੁਖ ਮੇਟੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
janam maran dovai dukh maytay har raamai naam samaa-i-aa.
They merge in God’s Name; their pain (cycle) of birth and death ends.
Wanaunganishwa katika Jina la Mungu; uchungu wao (mzunguko) wa kuzaliwa na kufa unakwisha.
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਲਿ ਏਕੋ ਹੋਏ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕ ਸਮਾਨਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
har jan parabh ral ayko ho-ay har jan parabh ayk samaan jee-o.
God’s devotees and God merge into oneness; God’s devotee and God are one and the same.
Watawa wa Mungu na Mungu wanaungana katika umoja; mtawa wa Mungu na Mungu ni kitu kimoja.
ਧੁਰਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਲਿਖਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਹਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਉਬਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਨਿ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

jag upjai binsai binas binaasai lag gurmukh asthir ho-ay jee-o.
The people in the world continue being born and die again and again. They canachieve immortal status by meditating on God through the Guru’s teachings.
Watu duniani wanaendelea kuzaliwa na kufa tena na tena. Wanaweza kutimiza hadhi ya kutoweza kufa kwa kutafakari kuhusu Mungu kupitia mafundisho ya Guru.
ਗੁਰੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਚੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
gur mantar drirh-aa-ay har rasak rasaa-ay har amrit har mukh cho-ay jee-o.
The person in whom the Guru implants the mantra of Naam and trickles in his mouth the ambrosial nectar of God’s Name, such a person permeates this divine relish within him.
Mtu ambaye ndani mwake Guru anapandikiza mantra ya Naam na kutiririsha mdomoni mwake nekta ya ambrosia ya Jina la Mungu, mtu kama huyo anapenyeza kiburudisho hiki takatifu ndani mwake.
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੁਆ ਜੀਵਾਇਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
har amrit ras paa-i-aa mu-aa jeevaa-i-aa fir baahurh maran na ho-ee.
The one in whose heart the Guru has put the ambrosial nectar of God’s Name is like that the Guru has given new life to a spiritually dead person, and such a person does not again have to die spiritually.
Yule ambaye moyoni mwake Guru ameweka nekta ya ambrosia ya Jina la Mungu ni kana kwamba Guru amempa uhai mpya mtu aliyekufa kiroho, na mtu kama huyo halazimiki kufa kiroho tena.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮਰ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ॥
har har naam amar pad paa-i-aa har naam samaavai so-ee.
Because through God’s Name, that person obtains immortal status and always remains absorbed in God’s Name.
Kwa sababu kupitia Jina la Mungu, mtu huyo anapata hadhi ya kutoweza kufa na daima anabaki amevama katika Jina la Mungu.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
jan naanak naam aDhaar tayk hai bin naavai avar na ko-ay jee-o.
O’ devotee Nanak, for such a person God’s Name is the only support and prop, and except God’s Name, that person does not depend on anything else.
Ee mtawa Nanak, kwa mtu kama huyo Jina la Mungu ni tegemezo na nguzo ya pekee, na isipokuwa Jina la Mungu, mtu huyo hategemei chochote kingine.
ਜਗੁ ਉਪਜੈ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਬਿਨਾਸੈ ਲਗਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੩॥
jag upjai binsai binas binaasai lag gurmukh asthir ho-ay jee-o. ||4||6||13||
The people in the world continue being born and die again and again. They canachieve freedom from the bonds of Maya by meditating on God through the Guru’s teachings.||4||6||13||
Watu duniani wanaendelea kuzaliwa na kufa tena na tena. Wanaweza kutimiza uhuru kutoka vifungo vya Maya kwa kutafakari kuhusu Mungu kupitia mafundisho ya Guru.
