ਪੁਰਬੇ ਕਮਾਏ ਸ੍ਰੀਰੰਗ ਪਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ॥
purbay kamaa-ay sareerang paa-ay har milay chiree vichhunni-aa.
Because of the previous good deeds, they (humans) are united with God, from Whom they had been separated.
Kwa sababu ya vitendo vizuri vya awali, wao (binadamu) wanaunganishwa na Mungu, ambaye walikuwa wametenganishwa kutoka kwake.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸਰਬਤਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਬਿਸੁਆਸੋ ॥
antar baahar sarbat ravi-aa man upji-aa bisu-aaso.
Then they believe with full conviction that God pervades everywhere, both within and without.
Kisha wanaamini kwa kusadiki kikamilifu ya kwamba Mungu anaenea kote, ndani na nje kote.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਿਖ ਦੇਇ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਤਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੋ ॥੪॥
naanak sikh day-ay man pareetam kar santaa sang nivaaso. ||4||
O beloved mind, Nanak gives this advice: let the holy congregation be your dwelling.
Ee akili mpendwa, Nanak anatoa ushauri huu: acha ushirika takatifu uwe makao yako.
ਮਨ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਜੀਉ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
man pi-aari-aa jee-o mitraa har paraym bhagat man leenaa.
O’ my dear mind, my friend, the person whose mind remains imbued with God’s love and devotion,
Ee akili yangu mpendwa, rafiki wangu, mtu ambaye akili yake inabaki imejawa na upendo na kujitolea kwa Mungu,
ਮਨ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਜੀਉ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਲ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੀਵੇ ਮੀਨਾ ॥
man pi-aari-aa jee-o mitraa har jal mil jeevay meenaa.
O dear beloved mind, my friend, attains a spiritual bliss upon meeting God, (just as the fish regains life upon getting back into water
Ee akili yangu mpendwa, rafiki wangu, anafikia furaha tele ya kiroho anapokutana na Mungu (kama vile samaki anapata tena uhai anaporudi majini)
ਹਰਿ ਪੀ ਆਘਾਨੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਨੇ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਮਨ ਵੁਠੇ ॥
har pee aaghaanay amrit baanay sarab sukhaa man vuthay.
All comforts come to the one, who is satiated by relishing the elixir of God’s ambrosial words.
Starehe zote zinamjia yule Mmoja, ambaye ametoshelezwa kwa kufurahia elixa ya maneno yenye ambrosia ya Mungu.
ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਪਾਏ ਮੰਗਲ ਗਾਏ ਇਛ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੁਠੇ ॥
sareeDhar paa-ay mangal gaa-ay ichh punnee satgur tuthay.
On realizing God, he sings songs of joy, and by the True Guru’s Grace, all his desires are fulfilled.
Anapogundua Mungu, anaimba nyimbo za furaha, na kwa Neema ya Guru wa Kweli, hamu zake zote zinatimizwa.
ਲੜਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਲਾਏ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਉ ਸਰਬਸੁ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ॥
larh leenay laa-ay na-o niDh paa-ay naa-o sarbas thaakur deenaa.
God has united him with Himself, and by His blessings he feels as if he has obtained all the nine treasures.
Mungu amemuunganisha naye mwenyewe, na kwa baraka zake anahisi kana kwamba amepata hazina zote tisa.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਖ ਸੰਤ ਸਮਝਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਨਾ ॥੫॥੧॥੨॥

O’ Nanak, He who is the support of our life (God), is found by seeking the refuge of Saints.

charan kamal si-o pareet reet santan man aav-ay jee-o.
The tradition of love and devotion for God comes to reside only in the minds of saints.
Desturi ya upendo na ibada kwa Mungu inakuja kuishi tu akilini mwa watakatifu.
ਦੁਤੀਆ ਭਾਉ ਬਿਪਰੀਤਿ ਅਨੀਤਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਨਹ ਭਾਵਏ ਜੀਉ ॥
dutee-aa bhaa-o bipreet aneet daasaa nah bhaav-ay jee-o.
To love anybody else other than God is against the belief of the devotees, and it does not appeal to them.
Kupenda mtu yeyote isipokuwa Mungu kunapinga imani ya wafuasi, na hakuwapendezi.
ਦਾਸਾ ਨਹ ਭਾਵਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਦਰਸਾਵਏ ਇਕ ਖਿਨੁ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਕਿਉ ਕਰੈ ॥
daasaa nah bhaav-ay bin darsaav-ay ik khin Dheeraj ki-o karai.
It is not pleasing to His devotees; without the Blessed Vision of God, how can they find peace, even for a moment?
Haipendezi wafuasi wake; bila Maono yaliyobarikiwa ya Mungu, watapataje amani, hata kwa muda mfupi?
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਨਾ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹੀਨਾ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਜਿਉ ਮਰੈ ॥
naam bihoonaa tan man heenaa jal bin machhulee ji-o marai.
Their body and mind feel miserable without Naam, Just as a fish dies without water.
Mwili wao na akili inataabika bila Naam, kama vile samaki anavyokufa bila maji.
ਮਿਲੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਗਾਵਏ ॥
mil mayray pi-aaray paraan aDhaaray gun saaDhsang mil gaav-ay.
O’ my Beloved God, the support of my breath of life, please bless me so that in the company of saintly persons I may also sing your praises.
Ee Mungu wangu mpendwa, nguzo ya pumzi yangu ya uhai, tafadhali nibariki ndiposa katika kikundi cha watu watakatifu niweze pia kuimba sifa zako.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਵਏ ॥੧॥
naanak kay su-aamee Dhaar anoograhu man tan ank samaav-ay. ||1||
O’ the Master of Nanak, please show me mercy, so that my body and soul may remain merged in Your embrace,
Ee Bwana wa Nanak, tafadhali nionee huruma, ndiposa mwili wangu na roho ibaki imeungana katika kukumbatia kwako.

He is Beautifulin all places; I do not see any other at all.
Yeye ni mzuri pahali pote: sioni mwengine hata mmoja.
ਖੁਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੜੇ ਕਪਾਟ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤੇ ॥੧॥
khulHrhay kapaat naanak satgur bhayttay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, upon meeting the true Guru, the mind detaches itself from the worldly desires.Then the person understands that God is pervading everywhere.
Ee Nanak, baada ya kukutana na Guru wa kweli, akili inajitenga kutoka hamu za kidunia. Kisha mtu huyo anaelewa ya kwamba Mungu anaenea kote.

O’ God, uniquely beautiful and infinite are Your Divine Words, and these are the support of the saints and we reflect on them.
Ee Mungu, Maneno yako Takatifu ni mazuri ya kipekee na hayana mwisho, na haya ni msaada wa watakatifu na tunatafakari kuyahusu.
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਸ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਸੁਆਸ ਕਿਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਬਿਸਾਰੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥
simrat saas giraas pooran bisu-aas ki-o manhu bisaaree-ai jee-o.
By remembering You with every breath they come to firmly believe that God’s Name should never be forgotten.
Kwa kukukumbuka Wewe kwa kila pumzi wanakuja kusadiki kwa uthabiti ya kwamba Jina la Mungu kamwe halifai kusahaulika.
ਕਿਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਬੇਸਾਰੀਐ ਨਿਮਖ ਨਹੀ ਟਾਰੀਐ ਗੁਣਵੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥
ki-o manhu baysaaree-ai nimakh nahee taaree-ai gunvant paraan hamaaray.
O’ virtuous Master, the support of life-breath, Why should we put Your Name out of our mind? We should not forget You even for a moment.
Ee Bwana mwenye fadhila, nguzo ya pumzi ya uhai, kwa nini tuweke Jina lako nje ya akili yetu? Hatufai kusahau jina lako hata kwa muda mfupi.
ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਦੇਤ ਹੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਸਾਰੇ ॥
man baaNchhat fal dayt hai su-aamee jee-a kee birthaa saaray.
God fulfills the desires of every mind, and takes care of every one’s pain.
Mungu anatimiza hamu za kila akili, na kushughulikia uchungu wa kila mmoja.
ਅਨਾਥ ਕੇ ਨਾਥੇ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਕੈ ਸਾਥੇ ਜਪਿ ਜੂਐ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹਾਰੀਐ ॥
anaath kay naathay sarab kai saathay jap joo-ai janam na haaree-ai.
By meditating on God, the the support of the support-less and friend of all, we do not lose our life in game of gamble.
Kwa kutafakari kuhusu Mungu, msaada wa wasio na msaadana rafiki wa wote, hatupotezi maisha yetu katika mchezo wa kamari.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਹਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਾਰੀਐ ॥੨॥
naanak kee baynantee parabh peh kirpaa kar bhavjal taaree-ai. ||2||
Nanak offers this prayer to God: please show Your mercy and help us swim across this dreadful world-ocean of vices.
Nanak anatoa sala hii kwa Mungu: tafadhali onesha huruma yako na utusaidie kuogelea tukivuka hii bahari-dunia ya dhambi inayoogofya.

Dhoorhee majan saaDh khay saa-ee thee-ay kirpaal.
On whom God showers His mercy, they get the opportunity of joining and humbly serving the saints.
Kwa wale ambao Mungu anamiminia huruma yake, wanapata fursa ya kujiunga na kutimikia watakatifu kwa unyenyekevu.
ਲਧੇ ਹਭੇ ਥੋਕੜੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਮਾਲ ॥੧॥
laDhay habhay thokrhay naanak har Dhan maal. ||1||
O’ Nanak, those who collected the treasure of Naam, they feel like they have found everything they ever needed.
Ee Nanak, wale waliokusanya hazina ya Naam, wanahisi ni kama wamepata kila kitu ambacho wamewahi kuhitaji.

sundar su-aamee Dhaam bhagtah bisraam aasaa lag jeevtay jee-o.
God’s lotus feet (His Divine Word) is the resting place for the minds of the devotees, they live in the hope of attaining it
Miguu ya lotus ya Mungu (Neno lake Takatifu) ni mapumziko ya akili za wafuasi, wanaishi katika tuymaini la kuyafikia.
ਮਨਿ ਤਨੇ ਗਲਤਾਨ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵਤੇ ਜੀਉ ॥
man tanay galtaan simrat parabh naam har amrit peevtay jee-o.
Being fully absorbed both in body and mind in Him, they lovingly meditate on God’s Name and relish the nectar of Naam.
Wakiwa wamezama kabisa kimwili na kiroho katika Mungu, wanatafakari kwa upendo kuhusu Jina la Mungu na kufurahia nekta ya Naam
