O’ my crazy mind, be careful, save yourself from falling into sinful pursuits and attune yourself to God.
Ee akili yangu mwenye kichaa, kuwa mwenye makini, jiokoe kutoka kuanguka katika harakati ya dhambi na ujimakinishe kwa Mungu.
ਨਿਰਭੈ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੇ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਗਹਿਓ ਨ ਰਾਮ ਜਹਾਜੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nirbhai ho-ay na har bhajay man ba-uraa ray gahi-o na raam jahaaj. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my crazy mind, You haven’t fearlessly meditated on God and have not taken His support. ||1||Pause||
Ee akili yangu mwenye kichaa, haujatafakari bila uoga kuhusu Mungu na hujachukua tegemezo yake. ||1||Sitisha||
ਮਰਕਟ ਮੁਸਟੀ ਅਨਾਜ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਲੀਨੀ ਹਾਥੁ ਪਸਾਰਿ ॥
markat mustee anaaj kee man ba-uraa ray leenee haath pasaar.
O’ my crazy mind, you are engrossed in greed like a monkey who spreads its hand into a narrow necked pot for a handful of grains,
Ee akili yangu mwenye kichaa, umevama katika tamaa kama nyani anayeeneza mkono wake kwenye chungu chenye shingo nyebamba ili apate nafaka,
ਛੂਟਨ ਕੋ ਸਹਸਾ ਪਰਿਆ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਨਾਚਿਓ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਬਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
chhootan ko sahsaa pari-aa man ba-uraa ray naachi-o ghar ghar baar. ||2||
and does not open his fist due to the fear of losing grains and gets caught. The master makes him dance from door to door. ||2||
wala hafungui mkono wake kutokana na uoga wa kupotezanafaka na anakamatwa. Bwana anamfanya acheze kutoka mlango moja hadi mwingine.
ਜਿਉ ਨਲਨੀ ਸੂਅਟਾ ਗਹਿਓ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਮਾਯਾ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥
ji-o nalnee soo-ataa gahi-o man ba-uraa ray maa-yaa ih bi-uhaar.
O’ my crazy mind, Maya entraps us all just like the lime-twig entraps a parrot.
Ee akili yangu mwenye kichaa, Maya inatunasa sote kama vile majani ya ndimu yananasa kasuku.
ਜੈਸਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਸੁੰਭ ਕਾ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਤਿਉ ਪਸਰਿਓ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
jaisaa rang kasumbh kaa man ba-uraa ray ti-o pasri-o paasaar. ||3||
O’ my crazy mind, the expanse of this world is also temporary like the color of the safflower. ||3||
Ee akili yangu mwenye kichaa, upanuzi wa dunia hii pia ni wa muda mfupi kama rangi ya saflawa.
ਨਾਵਨ ਕਉ ਤੀਰਥ ਘਨੇ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਪੂਜਨ ਕਉ ਬਹੁ ਦੇਵ ॥
naavan ka-o tirath ghanay man ba-uraa ray poojan ka-o baho dayv.
O’ my crazy mind, although there are myriads of sacred shrine to bathe and myriads of idols of angels to worship,
Ee akili yangu mwenye kichaa, ingawa kuna maelfu ya ziara takatifu ya kuoga na maelfu ya sanamu za malaika za kuabudu,
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਛੂਟਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾ ਰੇ ਛੂਟਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥੪॥੧॥੬॥੫੭॥
kaho kabeer chhootan nahee man ba-uraa ray chhootan har kee sayv. |4|1|6|57|
but one is not saved from the worldly bonds through these baths and worship; one is saved only by remembering God, says Kabir ||4||1||6||57||

ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਦਹੈ ਪਵਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਗਨੈ ਤਸਕਰੁ ਨੇਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
agan na dahai pavan nahee magnai taskar nayr na aavai.
The wealth of God’s Name is such that fire can’t burn it, wind cannott blow it away and thieves cannot get near it;
Utajiri wa Jina la Mungu ni wa hali ya kwamba moto hauwezi kuuchoma, upepo hauwezi kuufurusha na wezi hawawezi kuukaribia;
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਚਉਨੀ ਸੋ ਧਨੁ ਕਤ ਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
raam naam Dhan kar sanch-unee so Dhan kat hee na jaavai. ||1||
therefore, one should amass the wealth of God’s Name which is never lost. ||1||
hivyo basi, mtu anafaa kukusanya utajiri wa Jina la Mungu ambao kamwe haupotezwi.
ਹਮਰਾ ਧਨੁ ਮਾਧਉ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਧਰਣੀਧਰੁ ਇਹੈ ਸਾਰ ਧਨੁ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
hamraa Dhan maaDha-o gobind DharneeDhar ihai saar Dhan kahee-ai.
My wealth is God, the Master of the Universe and the Support of the earth: this is called the most sublime wealth.
Utajiri wangu ni Mungu, Bwana wa Ulimwengu na Tegemezo ya dunia: huu unaitwa utajiri mtukufu zaidi.
ਜੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਰਾਜਿ ਨ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo sukh parabh gobind kee sayvaa so sukh raaj na lahee-ai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The bliss which is attained by meditating on God is not attained even by ruling like a king. ||1||Pause||
Raha tele ambao unapatwa kwa kutafakari kuhusu Mungu haipatwi hata kwa kutawala kama mfalme. ||1||Sitisha||
ਇਸੁ ਧਨ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਸਿਵ ਸਨਕਾਦਿਕ ਖੋਜਤ ਭਏ ਉਦਾਸੀ ॥
is Dhan kaaran siv sankaadik khojat bha-ay udaasee.
To attain this wealth Naam, angels like Shiva, men like Sanak and other three sons of angel Brahma became recluses.
Ili kupata utajiri huu wa Naam, malaika kama Shiva, wanaume kama Sanak na wana wengine watatu wa malaika Brahma walikuwa wapweke.
ਮਨਿ ਮੁਕੰਦੁ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਨਾਰਾਇਨੁ ਪਰੈ ਨ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸੀ ॥੨॥
man mukand jihbaa naaraa-in parai na jam kee faasee. ||2||
One whose heart enshrines God, the emancipator, and whose tongue always chants the omnipresent God’s name, is not caught in the noose of death. ||2||
Yule ambaye moyo wake unamthamini Mungu, mkombozi, na ambaye ulimi wake daima unaimba Jina la Mungu ambaye yupo kila mahali, hanaswi katika kitanzi cha kifo.
ਨਿਜ ਧਨੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੀ ਤਾਸੁ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
nij Dhan gi-aan bhagat gur deenee taas sumat man laagaa.
Whom the Guru has blessed the wealth of divine knowledge and devotional worship, that person’s mind remains attuned to God,
Yule ambaye Guru amebariki na utajiri wa maarifa takatifu na ibada ya ujitoaji, akili ya mtu huyo inabaki imemakinikia Mungu,
ਜਲਤ ਅੰਭ ਥੰਭਿ ਮਨੁ ਧਾਵਤ ਭਰਮ ਬੰਧਨ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੩॥
jalat ambh thambh man Dhaavat bharam banDhan bha-o bhaagaa. ||3||
The wealth of Naam is like water for the mind burning in worldly desires and a support for the wandering mind; it also helps to end the fear of bonds of doubts. ||3||
Utajiri wa Naam ni kama maji kwa akili inayochomeka katika hamu za kidunia na tegemezo kwa akili inayozurura; pia unasaidia kutamatisha uoga wa vifungo vya shaka.
ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਮਦਨ ਕੇ ਮਾਤੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਦੇਖੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
kahai kabeer madan kay maatay hirdai daykh beechaaree.
Kabeer says: reflect this in your mind o’ king, intoxicated in wealth and lust,
Kabeer anasema: tafakari haya akilini mwako Ee mfalme, uliyelevya katika utajiri na ukware,
ਤੁਮ ਘਰਿ ਲਾਖ ਕੋਟਿ ਅਸ੍ਵ ਹਸਤੀ ਹਮ ਘਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੭॥੫੮॥
tum ghar laakh kot asav hastee ham ghar ayk muraaree. ||4||1||7||58||
you may have millions of horses and elephants in your home but in my heart dwells God, the benefactor of everything. ||4||1||7||58||
unaweza kuwa na mamilioni ya farasi na tembo nyumbani mwako lakini moyoni mwangu mnaishi Mungu, mfadhili wa vyote.

ਜਿਉ ਕਪਿ ਕੇ ਕਰ ਮੁਸਟਿ ਚਨਨ ਕੀ ਲੁਬਧਿ ਨ ਤਿਆਗੁ ਦਇਓ ॥
ji-o kap kay kar musat chanan kee lubaDh na ti-aag da-i-o.
Just as a monkey does not let go of handful of grains and is thereby gets trapped because of its greed,
Kama vile tumbili haachilii nafaka iliyojaa mkononi mwake na kwa hiyo ananaswa kwa sababu ya tamaa yake,
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਏ ਲਾਲਚ ਸਿਉ ਤੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਗਰਹਿ ਪਰਿਓ ॥੧॥
jo jo karam kee-ay laalach si-o tay fir gareh pari-o. ||1||
similarly, all the deeds motivated by greed ultimately become chains of worldly bonds around one’s neck. ||1||
vivyo hivyo, vitendo vyote vinavyohamasishwa na tamaa mwishowe vinakuwa nyororo za vifungo vya kidunia shingoni pa mtu.
ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਰਥੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਇਓ ॥
bhagat bin birthay janam ga-i-o.
Without devotional worship of God, human life passes away in vain.
Bila ibada ya kujitolea kwa Mungu, maisha ya binadamu yanapita bure.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਭਜਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਸਚੁ ਰਹਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaDhsangat bhagvaan bhajan bin kahee na sach rahi-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Without remembering God in the holy congregation, the eternal God doesn’t become manifest in any one’s heart. ||1||Pause||
Bila kumkumbuka Mungu katika ushirika mtakatifu, Mungu wa milele hadhihiriki katika moyo wa mtu yeyote. ||1||Sitisha||
ਜਿਉ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਕੁਸਮ ਪਰਫੁਲਿਤ ਕਿਨਹਿ ਨ ਘ੍ਰਾਉ ਲਇਓ ॥
ji-o udi-aan kusam parfulit kineh na gharaa-o la-i-o.
Just as no one enjoys the fragrance of flowers blooming in a jungle and the bloom of these flowers goes to waste,
Kama vile hakuna anayefurahia manukato ya maua yanayonawiri nyikani na kunawiri kwa maua haya kunaenda bure,
ਤੈਸੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਅਨੇਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਕਾਲ ਹਇਓ ॥੨॥
taisay bharmat anayk jon meh fir fir kaal ha-i-o. ||2||
similarly without meditation on God’s Name, people wander through countless births and suffer death again and again. ||2||
vivyo hivyo bila kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu, watu wanazurura kupitia kuzaliwa kusiohesabika na wanateseka kifo tena na tena.
ਇਆ ਧਨ ਜੋਬਨ ਅਰੁ ਸੁਤ ਦਾਰਾ ਪੇਖਨ ਕਉ ਜੁ ਦਇਓ ॥
i-aa Dhan joban ar sut daaraa paykhan ka-o jo da-i-o.
This wealth, youth, children and spouse which God has given is just a passing show.
Utajiri, ujana, watutu na mwenzi wa ndoa ambaye Mungu amekupa ni onyesho tu linalopita.
ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਅਟਕਿ ਜੋ ਉਰਝੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿ ਲਇਓ ॥੩॥
tin hee maahi atak jo urjhay indree parayr la-i-o. ||3||
Carried away by sensual desires, people get stuck in these emotional bonds. |3||
Wakivama katika tamaa za kihisia, watu wanakwama katika vifungo hivi vya kihisia.
ਅਉਧ ਅਨਲ ਤਨੁ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਚਹੁ ਦਿਸ ਠਾਟੁ ਠਇਓ ॥
a-oDh anal tan tin ko mandar chahu dis thaat tha-i-o.
Assume this body is like a house of straw being consumed by fire of aging; this is the scene being played out all around.
Fikiria mwili huu kama nyumba ya nyasi inayoteketezwa na moto wa kuzeeka; hili ndilo tukio linalotendeka kote.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਭੈ ਸਾਗਰ ਤਰਨ ਕਉ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਓਟ ਲਇਓ ॥੪॥੧॥੮॥੫੯॥
kahi kabeer bhai saagar taran ka-o mai satgur ot la-i-o. ||4||1||8||59||
Kabir says, to swim across this dreadful worldly ocean of vices, I have sought the refuge of the true Guru. ||4||1||8||59||
Kabir anasema, ili kuogelea nivuke bahari hii ya kidunia ya dhambi inayoogofya, nimetafuta kimbilio cha Guru wa kweli.

ਪਾਨੀ ਮੈਲਾ ਮਾਟੀ ਗੋਰੀ ॥ ਇਸ ਮਾਟੀ ਕੀ ਪੁਤਰੀ ਜੋਰੀ ॥੧॥
paanee mailaa maatee goree.is maatee kee putree joree. ||1||
God assembled this puppet of clay ( human body) from thecloudy water (the semen) and the crimson clay (egg and fluid from the ovary).
Mungu aliweka pamoja karagosi hiki cha udongo (mwili wa binadamu) kutoka maji ya uwingu (shahawa) na udongo nyekundu (yai na umajimaji kutoka kwa ovari).
ਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਆਹਿ ਨ ਮੋਰਾ ॥
mai naahee kachh aahi na moraa.
I realize that I have no identity separate from You and nothing belongs to me.
Ninagundua kwamba sina utambulisho tofauti kutoka kwako Wewe na hakuna kitu ambacho ni changu.
ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਰਸੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਤੋਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tan Dhan sabh ras gobind toraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, this body, wealth and all the energy in the body are Yours. ||1||Pause||
Ee Mungu, mwili huu, utajiri na nguvu yote ndani mwa mwili ni yako Wewe. ||1||Sitisha||
ਇਸ ਮਾਟੀ ਮਹਿ ਪਵਨੁ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
is maatee meh pavan samaa-i-aa.
This earthen pot (human body) is supported by the air (breath).
Chungu hiki cha udongo (mwili wa binadamu) inatolewa tegemezo na hewa (pumzi).
