ਮਨਸਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
mansaa maar sach samaanee.
One who, by subduing his desires, merged with the True One;
Yule ambaye, kwa kudhibiti hamu zake, ameungana na yule Mmoja wa Kweli;

ਇਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਡੀਠੀ ਸਭ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
in man deethee sabh aavan jaanee.
He has realized that this entire world is subject to coming and going.
Amegundua ya kwamba dunia hii nzima imetiishwa kuja na kuenda.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
satgur sayvay sadaa man nihchal nij ghar vaasaa paavni-aa. ||3||
By following the teachings of the True Guru, his mind always remains in a state of poise, and he realizes the presence of God within himself. ||3||
Kwa kufuata mafundisho ya Guru wa Kweli, akili yake daima inabaki katika hali ya utulivu, na anagundua uwepo wa Mungu ndani mwake.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
gur kai sabad ridai dikhaa-i-aa.
The Guru’s word has shown me the presence of God within my heart.
Neno la Guru limenionesha uwepo wa Mungu ndani mwa moyo wangu.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇਆ ॥
maa-i-aa moh sabad jalaa-i-aa.
By following the Guru’s word, I have burnt away my attachment for the worldly riches and powers.
Kwa kufuata neno la Guru, nimeteketeza kiambatisho changu kwa utajiri na mamlaka ya kidunia.

ਸਚੋ ਸਚਾ ਵੇਖਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
sacho sachaa vaykh saalaahee gur sabdee sach paavni-aa. ||4||
Now by seeing the eternal God everywhere, I praise Him. Through the Guru’s word, I obtain the eternal God.||4||
Sasa kwa kuona Mungu wa milele kila mahali, namsifu Yeye. Kupitia neno la Guru, mimi napata Mungu wa milele. ||4||

ਜੋ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਸਚੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
jo sach raatay tin sachee liv laagee.
Those who are imbued with the love of the eternal God, they are truly attuned to Him.
Wale ambao wamejawa na upendo wa Mungu wa milele, kwa kweli wamemmakinikia Yeye.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
har naam samaaleh say vadbhaagee.
Those fortunates ones keep God’s Naam enshrined in their hearts.
Wale wenye bahati wanaoweka Naam ya Mungu vizuri moyoni mwao.

ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
sachai sabad aap milaa-ay satsangat sach gun gaavani-aa. ||5||
Through the True word of the Guru, God unites them with Himself , and in thecompany of saintly persons, they keep singing praises of the eternal God.||5||
Kupitia neno la kweli la Guru, Mungu anawaunganisha naye mwenyewe, na katika uandamano wa watu watakatifu, wanaendelea kuimba sifa za Mungu wa milele.

ਲੇਖਾ ਪੜੀਐ ਜੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
laykhaa parhee-ai jay laykhay vich hovai.
We might try to read God’s description (such as when He came to existence or when He created the universe ), if He were subject to any such description.
Tunaweza jaribu kusoma maelezo ya Mungu (kama vile wakati alikuja kuwepo ama wakati aliumba ulimwengu), iwapo angetiishwa kwa maelezo yoyote kama hayo.

ਓਹੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਧਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
oh agam agochar sabad suDh hovai.
That inaccessible and incomprehensible God can be realized only through the Guru’s word.
Mungu huyo asiyeweza kufikiwa wala asiyefahamika anaweza tu kugunduliwa kupitia neno la Guru.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਚ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
an-din sach sabad saalaahee hor ko-ay na keemat paavni-aa. ||6||
Only the person, who always sings His praises through the Guru’s word, knows Him, no one else knows His worth. ||6||
Ni mtu tu, ambaye daima anaimba sifa zake kupitia neno la Guru, anayemjua, hakuna mwengine anayejua thamani yake.||6||

ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਥਾਕੇ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਆਈ ॥
parh parh thaakay saaNt na aa-ee.
People read and recite books about God until they grow weary, but they do not find mental peace.
Watu wanasoma na kukariri vitabu kuhusu Mungu hadi wanachoka, lakini hawapati amani akilini.

ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਾਲੇ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥
tarisnaa jaalay suDh na kaa-ee.
They are consumed by the fire of their worldly desires, and have no real wisdom.
Wanaangamizwa na moto wa tamaa zao za kidunia, wala hawana hekima yoyote halisi.

ਬਿਖੁ ਬਿਹਾਝਹਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਸੇ ਕੂੜੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
bikh bihaajheh bikh moh pi-aasay koorh bol bikh khaavani-aa. ||7||
Such people simply remain absorbed in the love for the poison of worldly wealth and remain thirsty for this poison. By telling all kinds of lies they consume this poison of worldly wealth. ||7||
Watu kama hao wanabaki wamevama katika upendo wa sumu ya utajiri wa kidunia na wanabaki na kiu cha sumu hii. Kwa kusema aina yote ya uongo wanakula sumu hii ya utajiri wa kidunia. ||7||

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
gur parsaadee ayko jaanaa.
By Guru’s grace, I recognize the only One (God).
Kwa neema ya Guru, natambua yule Mmoja pekee (Mungu).

ਦੂਜਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥
doojaa maar man sach samaanaa.
By subduing duality (love for anything other than God), I have merged my mind in the eternal God.
Kwa kushinda uwili (upendo wa vitu vyovyote ila Mungu), nimeunganisha akili yangu kwa Mungu wa milele.

ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੭॥੧੮॥
naanak ayko naam vartai man antar gur parsaadee paavni-aa.||8||17||18||
O’ Nanak, one whose mind remains absorbed in God’S Name, realizes the presence of God within himself. ||8||17||18||
Ee Nanak, yule ambaye aklli yake inabaki imevama katika Jina la Mungu, anagundua uwepo wa Mungu ndani mwake. ||8||17||18||

ਵਰਨ ਰੂਪ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
varan roop varteh sabh tayray.
All the different forms and colors, pervading in uncountable creatures of this universe are Your manifestation.
Aina yote tofauti ya miundo na rangi, inayoenea katika viumbe visivyohesabika vya ulimwengu huu ni udhihirisho wako.

ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਫੇਰ ਪਵਹਿ ਘਣੇਰੇ ॥
mar mar jameh fayr paveh ghanayray.
These uncountablecreatures keep dying and getting reborn again and again; they continue tomake their rounds on the wheel of reincarnation.
Hao viumbe wasiohesabika wanaendelea kufa na kuzaliwa upya tena na tena; wanaendelea kufanya mizunguko katika gurudumu la kuzaliwa upya.

ਤੂੰ ਏਕੋ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
tooN ayko nihchal agam apaaraa gurmatee boojh bujhaavani-aa. ||1||
You alone are immortal, incomprehensible and infinite. You impart this understanding through the Guru’s teachings.||1||
Wewe pekee unadumu milele, hauwezi kufahamika wala huna mwisho. Wewe unatoa uelewa huu kupitia mafundisho ya Guru. ||1||

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
ha-o vaaree jee-o vaaree raam naam man vasaavani-aa.
I dedicate my life to those who enshrine the God’s Name in their hearts.
Naweka wakfu maisha yangu kwa wale wanaothamini Jina la Mungu moyoni mwao.

ਤਿਸੁ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਵਰਨੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tis roop na raykh-i-aa varan na ko-ee gurmatee aap bujhaavani-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God has no form, figure or color. Through the Guru’s teachings, He inspires us to understand Him.||1||Pause||
Mungu hana muundo, umbo au rangi yoyote, kupitia mafundisho ya Guru, Yeye anatuhamasisha kumuelewa Yeye. |1||Sitisha||

ਸਭ ਏਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ॥
sabh aykaa jot jaanai jay ko-ee.
It is only One Divine Light that pervades in all His creation; but very few know this.
Ni Mwanga Mmoja Takatifu pekee unaoenea katika uumbaji wake wote; lakini wachache sana wanajua hayo.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
satgur sayvi-ai pargat ho-ee.
This Divine light is revealed to the those who follow the teachings of the true Guru.
Mwanga Takatifu unadhihirishwa kwa wale wanaofuata mafundisho ya Guru wa kweli.

ਗੁਪਤੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਥਾਈ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
gupat pargat vartai sabh thaa-ee jotee jot milaavani-aa. ||2||
Visibly and invisibly; He pervades everywhere and it is He who ultimately merges all lights (souls) into His Light.||2||
Kwa njia inayoonekana na isiyoonekana; Yeye anaenea kote na ni Yeye ambaye mwishowe anaunganisha mianga yote (roho) katika Mwanga wake. ||2||

ਤਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
tisnaa agan jalai sansaaraa.
The entire world is burning and suffering in the fire of desire,
Dunia nzima inateketea na kuteseka katika moto wa tamaa,

ਲੋਭੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
lobh abhimaan bahut ahaNkaaraa.
People are overpowered by greed, arrogance and lot of ego.
Watu wanatawaliwa na tamaa, kiburi na ubinafsi mwingi.

ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਏ ਅਪਣੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
mar mar janmai pat gavaa-ay apnee birthaa janam gavaavni-aa. ||3||
Afflicted with theses evils, people remain entangled in the cycles of birth and death, thus wasting the human birth in vain. ||3||
Wakikumbwa na maovu haya, watu wanabaki wamenaswa katika mizunguko ya kuzaliwa na kufa, hivyo wakiharibu kuzaliwa kwa ubinadamu bure. ||3||

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
gur kaa sabad ko virlaa boojhai.
Very rare (and fortunate) person understands the Guru’s Word (advise).
Mtu anayeelewa Neno (ushauri) la Guru ni nadra sana (na mwenye bahati nzuri).

ਆਪੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਸੂਝੈ ॥
aap maaray taa taribhavan soojhai.
Only when one kills his ego, he can understand that God pervades through all the three worlds.
Wakati tu mtu anaangamiza ubinafsi wake, ndipo anaweza kuelewa ya kwamba Mungu anaenea kupitia dunia zote tatu.

ਫਿਰਿ ਓਹੁ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
fir oh marai na marnaa hovai sehjay sach samaavani-aa. ||4||
Then, oneneither spiritually dies nor experiences such death again, but instead imperceptibly remains merged in eternal God. ||4||
Kisha, mtu hafi kiroho wala kupitia kifo kama hicho tena, lakini badala yake kwa utaratibu anabaki ameungana na Mungu wa milele. ||4||

ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਨ ਲਾਏ ॥
maa-i-aa meh fir chit na laa-ay.
Such a person no longer focuses his mind on worldly things.
Mtu kama huyo halengi akili yake tena kwa vitu vya kidunia.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
gur kai sabad sad rahai samaa-ay.
Such a person always remains absorbed in the Guru’s word.
Mtu kama huyo anabaki amevama katika neno la Guru.

ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਸਭ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
sach salaahay sabh ghat antar sacho sach suhaavani-aa. ||5||
He sings the praises of the True One, who is residing deep within all hearts. He is blessed and exalted by the Truest of the True (God). ||5||
Yeye anaimba sifa za yule Mmoja wa Kweli, ambaye anaishi ndani mwa mioyo yote. Anabarikiwa na kuinuliwa juu na yule wa Kweli kwa wote (Mungu). ||5||

ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥
sach saalaahee sadaa hajooray.
The person who praises the eternal God deems Him always very close.
Mtu anayesifu Mungu wa milele anamfikiria kuwa karibu sana daima.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥
gur kai sabad rahi-aa bharpooray.
Through the Guru’s word this person understands that God pervades everywhere.
Kupitia neno la Guru mtu huyu anaelewa ya kwamba Mungu anaenea kila mahali.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵੈ ਸਚੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
gur parsaadee sach nadree aavai sachay hee sukh paavni-aa. ||6||
By Guru’s grace, eternal God becomes visible to such person and from that eternal God Himself he obtains spiritual peace and joy.||6||
Kwa neema ya Guru, Mungu wa milele anaweza kuonekana na mtu kama huyo na kutoka Mungu mwenyewe wa milele anapata amani na furaha ya kiroho. ||6||

ਸਚੁ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
sach man andar rahi-aa samaa-ay.
The eternal God abides within everyone’s heart.
Mungu wa milele anaishi ndani mwa moyo wa kila mtu.

ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
sadaa sach nihchal aavai na jaa-ay.
He (God) always is eternal and never goes into the cycle of birth and death
Yeye (Mungu) daima ni wa milele na kamwe haendi kwenye mzunguko wa kuzaliwa na kufa.

ਸਚੇ ਲਾਗੈ ਸੋ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
sachay laagai so man nirmal gurmatee sach samaavani-aa. ||7||
Those who are attached to the True One are immaculate and pure. Through the Guru’s Teachings, they merge in the True One. ||7||
Wale wanaojiambatisha na yule Mmoja wa Kweli ni safi na kamili. Kupitia mafundisho ya Guru, wanaungana na yule Mmoja wa Kweli. ||7||

ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
sach saalaahee avar na ko-ee.
Sing the praises of only the eternal God, thereis no one else like Him.
Imba sifa za Mungu wa milele pekee, hakuna yeyote mwengine kama Yeye.

ਜਿਤੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
jit sayvi-ai sadaa sukh ho-ee.
By meditating on whom with love and devotion, eternal spiritual peace and joy is experienced.
Kwa kutafakari kwake kwa upendo na kujitolea, amani na furaha ya milele ya kiroho inapatikana.
