ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਸਾਚੋ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ॥੫॥
taribhavan so parabh jaanee-ai saacho saachai naa-ay. ||5||
O’ Soul-bride, by meditating on the true Name of God, it is realized that He is pervading in all the three worlds.
Ee roho kama bi harusi, kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la kweli la Mungu, inagunduliwa ya kwamba Mungu anaenea katika dunia zote tatu.
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਖਰੀ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
saa Dhan kharee suhaavanee jin pir jaataa sang.
That soul-bride who feels the presence of God within is truly beautiful and praiseworthy.
Roho hiyo kama bi harusi anahisi uwepo wa Mungu ndani mwake ni nzuri kwa kweli na unastahili sifa.
ਮਹਲੀ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਈਐ ਸੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੇ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
mahlee mahal bulaa-ee-ai so pir raavay rang.
The soul-bride is invited to merge with God, and her God ravishes her with love.
Roho hiyo kama bi harusi anakaribishwa kuungana na Mungu, na Mungu wake amemfurahisha na upendo.
ਸਚਿ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਾ ਭਲੀ ਪਿਰਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੬॥
sach suhaagan saa bhalee pir mohee gun sang. ||6||
She is so enticed by God’s virtues that she becomes imbued in God’s love and becomes truly fortunate and praiseworthy.
Anavutiwa sana na fadhila za Mungu hadi anakuwa amezama katika upendo wa Mungu na kuwa na bahati mno na anayestahili sifa.
ਭੂਲੀ ਭੂਲੀ ਥਲਿ ਚੜਾ ਥਲਿ ਚੜਿ ਡੂਗਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
bhoolee bhoolee thal charhaa thal charh doogar jaa-o.
If I forsake the righteous path and wander again and again on earth and mountains.
Iwapo niache njia ya haki na kuzurura tena na tena kwenya dunia na milimani.
ਬਨ ਮਹਿ ਭੂਲੀ ਜੇ ਫਿਰਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਉ ॥
ban meh bhoolee jay firaa bin gur boojh na paa-o..
If I wander around lost in the forest (world), without the Guru (a true guide), I will never be able to find my destination.
Iwapo nizurure nikiwa nimepotea nyikani (dunia), bila Guru (mwelekezi wa kweli), sitawahi weza kupata mwisho wa safari yangu.
ਨਾਵਹੁ ਭੂਲੀ ਜੇ ਫਿਰਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਉ ਜਾਉ ॥੭॥
naavhu bhoolee jay firaa fir fir aava-o jaa-o. ||7||
Similarly, if I wander around forsaking God’s Name, I shall continue in the cycle of birth and death.
Sawia, iwapo nizurure nikiacha Jina la Mungu, nitaendelea katika mzunguko wa kuzaliwa na kufa.
ਪੁਛਹੁ ਜਾਇ ਪਧਾਊਆ ਚਲੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਹੋਇ ॥
puchhahu jaa-ay paDhaa-oo-aa chalay chaakar ho-ay.
(O my friend, If you want to find the righteous path), go and ask those Guru’s followers who have traveled and lived like the servants of God.
(Ee rafiki yangu, iwapo unataka kupata njia ya haki), nenda ukaulize wale wafuasi wa Guru ambao wamesafiri na kuishi kama watumishi wa Mungu.
ਰਾਜਨੁ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
raajan jaaneh aapnaa dar ghar thaak na ho-ay.
They consider the Master of the Universe as their own, and they face no obstruction in their way to His court.
Wanafikiria Bwana wa Ulimwengu kama wao wenyewe, na hawakumbwi na kizuizi chochote katika njia yao kuelekea mahakama ya Mungu.
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੮॥੬॥
naanak ayko rav rahi-aa doojaa avar na ko-ay. ||8||6||
O Nanak, the One is pervading everywhere; there is no other at all.

ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਦੇਹ ਸਰੀਰੁ ॥
gur tay nirmal jaanee-ai nirmal dayh sareer.
Through the Guru, we realize the immaculate God, and our body and soul become pure (from the vices).
Kupitia Guru, tunagundua Mungu safi, na mwili wetu na roho inakuwa safi (kutoka maovu).
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਾਚੋ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਅਭ ਪੀਰ ॥
nirmal saacho man vasai so jaanai abh peer.
The immaculate God, who knows the pain of separation comes to dwell in our heart.
Mungu safi, anayejua uchungu wa utengano anakuja kuishi moyoni mwetu.
ਸਹਜੈ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਅਗਲੋ ਨਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਜਮ ਤੀਰੁ ॥੧॥
sahjai tay sukh aglo naa laagai jam teer. ||1||
With intuitive ease, a great peace is found, and fear of death does not hurt us.
Kwa urahisi angavu, amani kuu inapatikana, na uoga wa kifo hautudhuru.
ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਮੈਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜਲਿ ਨਾਇ ॥
bhaa-ee ray mail naahee nirmal jal naa-ay.
O’ Brother, the filth of vices is washed away by bathing in pure water of Naam.
Ee ndugu, uchafu wa dhambi unasafishwa kwa kuoga katika maji safi ya Naam.
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਕੁ ਤੂ ਹੋਰੁ ਮੈਲੁ ਭਰੀ ਸਭ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nirmal saachaa ayk too hor mail bharee sabh jaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, you alone are Perfectly Pure, all other places are filled with filth of vices.
Ee Mungu, Wewe pekee ni Safi Kamili, pahali pote pengine pamejawa na uchafu wa dhambi.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰਿ ॥
har kaa mandar sohnaa kee-aa karnaihaar.
Human body is a beautiful temple of God created by the creator Himself.
Mwili wa uanadamu ni hekalu nzuri ya Mungu iliyoumbwa na Muumba mwenyewe.
ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਦੀਪ ਅਨੂਪ ਜੋਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
rav sas deep anoop jot taribhavan jot apaar.
The sun and the moon are lamps of incomparably beautiful light. Throughout the three worlds, the Infinite Light is pervading.
Jua na mwezi ni taa ya mwangaza nzuri isiyoweza kufananishwa. Kupitia dunia tatu zote, Mwanga usio na mwisho unaenea.
ਹਾਟ ਪਟਣ ਗੜ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਉਦਾ ਵਾਪਾਰ ॥੨॥
haat patan garh koth-rhee sach sa-udaa vaapaar. ||2||
He has created the human bodies like shops, cities, forts and houses to conduct the true business (to trade in the Name of God).
Ameumba miili ya uanadamu kama majiji, ngome na nyumba kutenda biashara ya kweli (kufanya biashara katika Jina la Mungu).
ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨਾ ਦੇਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਭਾਇ ॥
gi-aan anjan bhai bhanjnaa daykh niranjan bhaa-ay.
Try to see (realize) God, the destroyer of fear, by applying the ointment of divine wisdom and love for the immaculate God.
Jaribu kuona (kugundua) Mungu, mwangamizi wa uoga, kwa kupaka mafuta ya hekima na upendo wa Mungu safi.
ਗੁਪਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਸਭ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਠਾਇ ॥
gupat pargat sabh jaanee-ai jay man raakhai thaa-ay.
If the mind is kept centered and balanced, then we can realize God in all His visible and invisible forms.
Iwapo akili iwekwe thabiti na yenye usawa, basi tunaweza kugundua Mungu katika miundo yake yote, inayoonekana na isiyoonekana.
ਐਸਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੩॥
aisaa satgur jay milai taa sehjay la-ay milaa-ay. ||3||
If one meets such a True Guru, he unites us with God with intuitive ease.
Iwapo mtu atakutana na Guru wa kweli kama huyo, anatuunganishana Mungu kwa urahisi angavu.
ਕਸਿ ਕਸਵਟੀ ਲਾਈਐ ਪਰਖੇ ਹਿਤੁ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
kas kasvatee laa-ee-ai parkhay hit chit laa-ay.
He tests our spiritual life on the touchstone (of purity) and examines us with love and full attention.
Anajaribu maisha yetu ya kiroho kwenye jiwe la kugusa (ya usafi) na kututahini kwa upendo na umakini kamili.
ਖੋਟੇ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਖਰੇ ਖਜਾਨੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
khotay tha-ur na paa-inee kharay khajaanai paa-ay.
Then like the coins, the counterfeit (impure hearted humans) do not find any place, while the true ones are put into the treasury (united with God).
Kisha kama sarafu, (binadamu wasio na moyo safi) bandia hawapati pahali popote, wakati wale wa kweli wanawekwa kwenye hazina (wanaunganishwa na Mungu).
ਆਸ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਇਉ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥
aas andaysaa door kar i-o mal jaa-ay samaa-ay. ||4||
Let your hopes and anxieties depart; thus the dirt of your mind will be washed away and you will merge in God.
Wacha matumaini na wasiwasi wako yaondoke; kisha uchafu wa akili yako utasafishwa na utaungana na Mungu.
ਸੁਖ ਕਉ ਮਾਗੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਮਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
sukh ka-o maagai sabh ko dukh na maagai ko-ay.
Everyone begs for happiness; no one asks for suffering.
Kila mtu anaomba furaha; hakuna mtu anaulizia kuteseka.
ਸੁਖੈ ਕਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
sukhai ka-o dukh aglaa manmukh boojh na ho-ay.
The self-willed manmukh does not know that worldly happiness now may bring immense suffering later.
Manmukh mwenye wasia ya kibinafsi hajui ya kwamba furaha ya kidunia ya sasa inaweza kuleta kuteseka kubwa baadaye.
ਸੁਖ ਦੁਖ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਭੇਦਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥
sukh dukh sam kar jaanee-ahi sabad bhayd sukh ho-ay. ||5||
Those who mold their mind according to the Guru’s word to find inner peace, for them the the pain and pleasure are one and the same.
Wale wanaofunza akili zao kulingana na neno la Guru ili kupata amani ndani mwao, kwao uchungu na raha ni moja na sawa tu.
ਬੇਦੁ ਪੁਕਾਰੇ ਵਾਚੀਐ ਬਾਣੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬਿਆਸੁ ॥
bayd pukaaray vaachee-ai banee barahm bi-aas.
The Vedas proclaim, and the words of Vyasa tell us, strivers
Vedas inatangaza, na maneno ya Vyasa yanatuambia, wanaojitahidi
ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਾਧਿਕਾ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥
mun jan sayvak saaDhikaa naam ratay guntaas.
that the silent sages, the devotees, and strivers are imbued with God’s Name, the Treasure ofvirtues.
Ya kwamba wajuzi wanyamavu, wafuasi, na wanaojitahidi wamejawa na Jina la Mungu, hazina ya fadhila.
ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਜਿਣਿ ਗਏ ਹਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਸੁ ॥੬॥
sach ratay say jin ga-ay ha-o sad balihaarai jaas. ||6||
Those who are attuned to the True Name win the game of life; I forever dedicate myself to them.
Wale ambao wamemakinikia Jina la Kweli wanashinda mchezo wa maisha; najiweka wakfu milele kwao.
ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਿ ਮੈਲੇ ਮਲੁ ਭਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
chahu jug mailay mal bharay jin mukh naam na ho-ay.
Their minds are forever full with the filth of vices, who do notrecite Naam.
Akili zao zimejawa na uchafu wa dhambi milele, ambao hawakariri Naam.
ਭਗਤੀ ਭਾਇ ਵਿਹੂਣਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਕਾਲਾ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥
bhagtee bhaa-ay vihooni-aa muhu kaalaa pat kho-ay.
Without loving devotion to God, they are disgraced, and their honor is lost.
Bila kujitolea kwa upendo kwa Mungu, wanaaibishwa, na heshima yao inapotea.
ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਅਵਗਣ ਮੁਠੀ ਰੋਇ ॥੭॥
jinee naam visaari-aa avgan muthee ro-ay. ||7||
Those who have forgotten the Naam are plundered by evil; they weep and wail in dismay.
Wale ambao wamesahau Naam wananyarwa na uovu; wanalia na kuomboleza kwa kufadhaika.
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਪਾਇਆ ਡਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
khojat khojat paa-i-aa dar kar milai milaa-ay.
By seeking and searching, I have found this fact that by having revered fear for God, we meet Him through the Guru.
Kwa kutafuta na kuchunguza, nimepata ukweli huu ya kwamba kwa kuwa na uoga wa heshima kwa Mungu, kunakutana naye kupitia kwa Guru.
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਘਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
aap pachhaanai ghar vasai ha-umai tarisnaa jaa-ay.
The one who realizes one’s own self, his mind stops wandering and abides within, and all one’s ego and (worldly) desire goes away.
Yule ambaye anajigundua mwenyewe, akili yake inaacha kuzurura na inaishi ndani mwake, na ubinafsi wote wa mtu na hamu (za kidunia) zinaondoka.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਊਜਲੇ ਜੋ ਰਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥੮॥੭॥
naanak nirmal oojlay jo raatay har naa-ay. ||8||7||
O Nanak, those who are imbued with the Name of God are immaculate and radiant.
Ee Nanak, wale ambao wamejawa na Jina la Mungu ni safi na wanang’aa.

Listen, O’ foolish and misguided mind: humbly surrender to the Guru.
Sikiza, Ee akili pumbavu iliyopotoshwa: jisalimu kwa unyenyekevu kwa Guru.
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂ ਜਮੁ ਡਰਪੈ ਦੁਖ ਭਾਗੁ ॥
har jap naam Dhi-aa-ay too jam darpai dukh bhaag.
Recite and meditate on God’s Name, the demon of death will be afraid of you and your sorrow shall depart.
Kariri na utafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu, pepo wa kifo atakuogopa na huzuni yako itaondoka.
ਦੂਖੁ ਘਣੋ ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਕਿਉ ਥਿਰੁ ਰਹੈ ਸੁਹਾਗੁ ॥੧॥
dookh ghano duhaaganee ki-o thir rahai suhaag. ||1||
The unfortunate soul-bride suffers immense pain. How can her Spouse remain for ever with her? How can she be united with God?.
Roho kama bi harusi asiye na bahati anateseka uchungu mkuu. Mwenzie wa ndoa atawezaje kubaki naye milele? Atawezaje kuunganishwa na Mungu?
