ਸਚੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਸਚੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
sachay mayray saahibaa sachee tayree vadi-aa-ee.
O’ my eternal Master-God, eternal is Your glory.
Ee Bwana-Mungu wangu wa milele, utukufu wako ni wa milele.
ਤੂੰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
tooN paarbarahm bay-ant su-aamee tayree kudrat kahan na jaa-ee.
You are the infinite supreme Master; Your creative power cannot be described.
Wewe ndiwe Bwana mkuu asiye na mwisho, nguvu yako ya kuumba haiwezi kuelezwa.
ਸਚੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੇ ॥
sachee tayree vadi-aa-ee jaa ka-o tuDh man vasaa-ee sadaa tayray gun gaavhay.
Yes, Your glory is eternal; they, within whose mind You enshrine this glory, always sing Your praise.
Ndio, utukufu wako ni wa milele, wale, ambao ndani mwa akili zao unathamini utukufu wako, wanaimba sifa zako daima.
ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਜਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹੇ ॥
tayray gun gaavahi jaa tuDh bhaaveh sachay si-o chit laavhay.
However, they sing Your praise only when it is pleasing to You and then they remain attuned to You.
Hata hivyo, wanaimba sifa zako wakati tu unaokupendeza Wewe na kisha wanabaki wamekumakinikia Wewe.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਸੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
jis no tooN aapay mayleh so gurmukh rahai samaa-ee.
One whom You unite with Yourself, by following the Guru’s teachings he remains absorbed in You.
Yule ambaye unaunganisha nawe Mwenyewe, kwa kufuata mafundisho ya Guru anabaki amevama ndani mwako.
ਇਉ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਚੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਸਚੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੧੦॥੨॥੭॥੫॥੨॥੭॥
i-o kahai naanak sachay mayray saahibaa sachee tayree vadi-aa-ee. ||10||2||7||5||2||7||
This is what Nanak says, O’ my eternal Master, eternal is Your glory. ||10||2||7||5||7||.

ਜੀਵਨੋ ਮੈ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
jeevno mai jeevan paa-i-aa gurmukh bhaa-ay raam.
I have developed love for God through the Guru’s teaching and have realized the righteous way of life.
Nimesitawisha upendo kwa Mungu kupitia funzo la Guru na nimegundua njia ya uadilifu ya kuishi.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਮੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
har naamo har naam dayvai mayrai paraan vasaa-ay raam..
The Guru has blessed me with the elixir of God’s Name and has enshrined it in my each breath.
Guru amenibariki na dawa ya Jina la Mungu na ameithamini katika kila pumzi ninayopumua.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
har har naam mayrai paraan vasaa-ay sabh sansaa dookh gavaa-i-aa.
The Guru has enshrined God’s Name in my breaths, and all my doubts and sorrows have departed.
Guru amethamini Jina la Mungu katika pumzi zangu, na shaka na huzuni zangu zote zimeondoka.
ਅਦਿਸਟੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
adisat agochar gur bachan Dhi-aa-i-aa pavitar param pad paa-i-aa.
Through the Guru’s word I have meditated on the invisible and incomprehensible God and have attained the immaculate supreme spiritual status.
Kupitia neno la Guru nimetafakari kuhusu Mungu asiyeonekana na asiyeeleweka na nimepata hadhi kuu safi ya kiroho.
ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨਿ ਵਾਜਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਵਾਜੇ ਗਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
anhad Dhun vaajeh nit vaajay gaa-ee satgur banee.
By singing God’s praises through the Guru’s words, a continuous melody vibrates in the mind, as if musical instruments are always playing within.
Kwa kuimba sifa za Mungu kupitia maneno ya Guru, melodia isiyo na mwisho inatetema akilini, kana kwamba ala za muziki daima zinacheza ndani mwangu.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦਾਤੈ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੧॥
naanak daat karee parabh daatai jotee jot samaanee. ||1||
O’ Nanak, the benefactor God blessed me and my soul merged in the supreme soul. ||1||
Ee Nanak, mfadhili Mungu amenibariki na roho yangu imeungana na roho kuu.
ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮੁਏ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
manmukhaa manmukh mu-ay mayree kar maa-i-aa raam.
The self-willed people spiritually died running after worldly riches.
Watu wenye hiari binafsi walikufa kiroho wakikimbilia utajiri wa kidunia.
ਖਿਨੁ ਆਵੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਜਾਵੈ ਦੁਰਗੰਧ ਮੜੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
khin aavai khin jaavai durganDh marhai chit laa-i-aa raam.
In an instant their mind feels elated and in another it feels depressed because they keep their mind attached to the love of the foul smelling body.
Papo hapo akili yao inahisi furaha na nyingine inahisi huzuni kwa sababu wanaweka akili yao katika kiambatisho cha upendo wa mwili wenye harufu mbaya.
ਲਾਇਆ ਦੁਰਗੰਧ ਮੜੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਿਉ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਸੁੰਭ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
laa-i-aa durganDh marhai chit laagaa ji-o rang kasumbh dikhaa-i-aa.
They keep their mind attached to the foul-smelling body, which is transitory like the fading color of the safflower,
Wanaweka akili yao imeambatishwa kwa mwili wenye harufu mbaya, ambayo ni ya mpito kama rangi inayofifia ya safflawa,
ਖਿਨੁ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਛਮਿ ਛਾਏ ਜਿਉ ਚਕੁ ਕੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਆਰਿ ਭਵਾਇਆ ॥
khin poorab khin pachham chhaa-ay ji-o chak kumHi-aar bhavaa-i-aa.
like the shadow which sometimes is in the east and sometimes in west and the changing directions of a potter’s spinning wheel.
Kama kivuli ambacho wakati mwingine kipo mashariki na wakati mwingine magharibi na mielekeo inayobadilika ya gurudumu linalozunguka la mfinyanzi.
ਦੁਖੁ ਖਾਵਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੰਚਹਿ ਭੋਗਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਧਿ ਵਧਾਈ ॥
dukh khaaveh dukh saNcheh bhogeh dukh kee biraDh vaDhaa-ee.
They endure misery, amass the causes of sorrows, live miserably and multiply their sources of sorrow.
Wanakumbwa na taabu, kukusanya misingi ya huzuni, kuishi kwa dhiki na kuzidisha vyanzo vyao vya huzuni.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਤਰੀਐ ਜਾ ਆਵੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥
naanak bikham suhaylaa taree-ai jaa aavai gur sarnaa-ee. ||2||
O’ Nanak, when one comes to the Guru’s refuge, then he is able to swim across the terrifying world-ocean of vices with great ease. ||2||
Ee Nanak, wakati mtu anakuja kwa kimbilio cha Guru, basi yeye anaweza kuogelea akivuka bahari-dunia inayoogofya ya dhambi kwa urahisi mno.
ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
mayraa thaakuro thaakur neekaa agam athaahaa raam.
My Master-God is sublime, incomprehensible and unfathomable.
Bwana-Mungu wangu ni tukufu, hawezi kueleweka na hawezi kufahamika.
ਹਰਿ ਪੂਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਜੀ ਚਾਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਾਹਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
har poojee har poojee chaahee mayray satgur saahaa raam.
O’ my true Guru, the treasurer of spiritual wealth, I ask for the wealth of God’s Name from you.
Ee Guru wangu wa kweli, mweka-hazina wa utajiri wa kidunia, ninaulizia utajiri wa Jina la Mungu kutoka kwako.
ਹਰਿ ਪੂਜੀ ਚਾਹੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
har poojee chaahee naam bisaahee gun gaavai gun bhaavai.
One who longs for the wealth of God’s Name and meditates on Naam; always sings God’s praises and only His virtues seem pleasing to him.
Yule ambaye anatamani utajiri wa Jina la Mungu na kutafakari kuhusu Naam; daima anaimba sifa za Mungu na fadhila Zake zinaonekana kumpendeza yeye.
ਨੀਦ ਭੂਖ ਸਭ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਸੁੰਨੇ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
need bhookh sabh parhar ti-aagee sunnay sunn samaavai.
He wakes up from the slumber of worldly wealth and abandons the love for it; and through deep meditation merges in the formless God.
Anaamka kutoka usingizi wa utajiri wa kidunia na kuacha upendo wake; na kupitia utafakari wa kina anaungana na Mungu asiye na muundo.
ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਇਕ ਭਾਤੀ ਆਵਹਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈ ਜਾਹੇ ॥
vanjaaray ik bhaatee aavahi laahaa har naam lai jaahay.
Such devotees, who are the seekers of God’s Name, meditate together and depart from here with the wealth of Naam.
Watawa kama hao, ambao ni watafuta wa Jina la Mungu, wanatafakari pamoja na kuondoka kutoka humu na utajiri wa Naam.
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ॥੩॥
naanak man tan arap gur aagai jis paraapat so paa-ay. ||3||
O’ Nanak, surrender your mind and heart before the Guru and receive the wealth of Naam; however it is attained only by the one who is predestined. ||3||
Ee Nanak, salimisha akili na moyo wako kwa Guru na upokee utajiri wa Naam; hata hivyo unapatwa tu na yule ambaye ameagiziwa mapema.
ਰਤਨਾ ਰਤਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਬਹੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
ratnaa ratan padaarath baho saagar bhari-aa raam.
Just as an ocean is filled with the priceless jewels, similarly a human mind is filled with sublime virtues.
Kama vile bahari imejawa na vito visizyokadirika, vivyo hivyo akili ya binadamu imejawa na fadhila tukufu.
ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹਥਿ ਚੜਿਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
banee gurbaanee laagay tinH hath charhi-aa raam.
Those who always keep their mind attuned to the Guru’s word, realize these jewel like virtues.
Wale ambao daima wanaweka akili yao imemakinikia neno la Guru, wanagundua fadhila hizi kama vito.
ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹਥਿ ਚੜਿਆ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
gurbaanee laagay tinH hath charhi-aa nirmolak ratan apaaraa.
Those who remain attuned to the Guru’s word, realize the priceless jewel like Name of the infinite God.
Wale ambao wanasalia wamemakinikia neno la Guru, wanagundua Jina la Mungu lisilokadirika kama kito la Mungu asiye na mwisho.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਤੋਲਕੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
har har naam atolak paa-i-aa tayree bhagat bharay bhandaaraa.
O’ God, they attain Your Name for which there is nothing of equal worth, and their hearts become full with Your devotional worship
Ee Mungu, wanapata Jina lako ambalo hakuna kitu chenye thamani sawa nalo, na mioyo yao inajawa na ibada yako ya ujitoaji
ਸਮੁੰਦੁ ਵਿਰੋਲਿ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹਮ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਇਕ ਵਸਤੁ ਅਨੂਪ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥
samund virol sareer ham daykhi-aa ik vasat anoop dikhaa-ee.
When I churned (searched) my ocean like mind, the Guru revealed to me Naam, a thing of unparalleled beauty,
Wakati nilisukasuka (kutafuta) akili yangu kama bahari, Guru alidhihirisha Naam kwangu, jambo la uzuri usio na mfano wake,
ਗੁਰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੋੁਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੮॥
gur govind govind guroo hai naanak bhayd na bhaa-ee. ||4||1||8||
O’ Nanak, the Guru is God, and God is the Guru; O’ my brother, there is no difference between the two. ||4||1||8||
Ee Nanak, Guru ni Mungu, na Mungu ni Guru; Ee ndugu wangu, hakuna tofauti kati ya hao wawili.

jhim jhimay jhim jhim varsai amrit Dhaaraa raam.
The ambrosial nectar of Naam is raining down very slowly and subtly.
Nekta ya ambrosia ya Naam inamiminika chini polepole na kwa njia isiyoonekana.
