Raag Gauree Bairagan, Guru wa Nne:
ਜਿਉ ਜਨਨੀ ਸੁਤੁ ਜਣਿ ਪਾਲਤੀ ਰਾਖੈ ਨਦਰਿ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥
ji-o jannee sut jan paaltee raakhai nadar majhaar.
Just as the mother, having given birth to a son, brings him up and keeps an eye on him.
Kama vile mama, akiwa amezaa mwana, anamlea na kumchunga.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਦੇ ਗਿਰਾਸੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪੋਚਾਰਿ ॥
antar baahar mukh day giraas khin khin pochaar.
while working in and out of the house, she feeds him regularly, and caresses him every moment.
Wakati anafanya kazi ndani na nje ya nyumba, anamlisha mara kwa mara, na kumpapasa kila wakati.
ਤਿਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਰਾਖਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੧॥
ti-o satgur gursikh raakh-taa har pareet pi-aar. ||1||
Similarly the true Guru takes care of his Gursikhs (disciples) by inculcating in them the love and affection for God
Vivyo hivyo Guru wa kweli anachunga Gursikh (wanafunzi) wake kwa kupandikiza kwao upendo na mapenzi kwa Mungu
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਹੈ ਇਆਣੇ ॥
mayray raam ham baarik har parabh kay hai i-aanay.
O’ God, we are Your innocent children.
Ee Mungu, sisi ni wana wako wasio na hatia.
ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਧਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਦੇ ਕੀਏ ਸਿਆਣੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Dhan Dhan guroo gur satgur paaDhaa jin har updays day kee-ay si-aanay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Blessed is our teacher, the true Guru, who made us wise by imparting us with divine knowledge.
Amebarikiwa mwalimu wetu, Guru wa kweli, ambaye ametufanya tuwe na busara kwa kutupa maarifa takatifu.
ਜੈਸੀ ਗਗਨਿ ਫਿਰੰਤੀ ਊਡਤੀ ਕਪਰੇ ਬਾਗੇ ਵਾਲੀ ॥
jaisee gagan firantee oodtee kapray baagay vaalee.
Just as, while flying in the sky a white feathered flamingo,
Kama vile, wakati anapepea angani flamingo mwenye manyoya meupe,
ਓਹ ਰਾਖੈ ਚੀਤੁ ਪੀਛੈ ਬਿਚਿ ਬਚਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਲੀ ॥
oh raakhai cheet peechhai bich bachray nit hirdai saar samaalee.
keeps her young ones who are left behind, in her thoughts and remembers them in her heart.
Amaweka vifaranga wake aliowaacha nyuma, katika fikira zake na kuwakumbuka moyoni mwake.
ਤਿਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਖ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਰਖੈ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਲੀ ॥੨॥
ti-o satgur sikh pareet har har kee gur sikh rakhai jee-a naalee. ||2||
Similarly the true Guru imbues his Sikhs (disciples) with the love for God, and keeps caring for them from his heart.
Vivyo hivyo Guru wa kweli anavamisha Sikh (wanafunzi) wake katika upendo kwa Mungu, na anaendelea kuwajali moyoni mwake.
ਜੈਸੇ ਕਾਤੀ ਤੀਸ ਬਤੀਸ ਹੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਰਸਨਾ ਮਾਸ ਰਤੁ ਕੇਰੀ ॥
jaisay kaatee tees batees hai vich raakhai rasnaa maas rat kayree.
Just as the tongue, made of flesh and blood, is protected within the scissors of the thirty-two teeth.
Kama vile ulimi, uliotengenezwa kwa nyama na damu, unalindwa ndani mwa mikasi ya meno thelathini na mbili.
ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਮਾਸ ਕਾਤੀ ਕੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਹਾਥਿ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੀ ॥
ko-ee jaanhu maas kaatee kai kichh haath hai sabh vasgat hai har kayree.
Who can figure out if the power lies in the tongue to save itself from being bit by the scissors of teeth. It is all under God’s control.
Nani anaweza kugundua iwapo nguvu ipo katika ulimi ya kijiokoa kutoka kuumwa na mikasi ya meno. Yote ipo katika udhibiti wa Mungu.
ਤਿਉ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਪੈਜ ਜਨ ਕੇਰੀ ॥੩॥
ti-o sant janaa kee nar nindaa karahi har raakhai paij jan kayree. ||3||
In just the same way, while people slander the Saints, but God preserves the honor of His devotees.
Vivyo hivyo, wakati watu wanazungumza kashfa kuhusu watakatifu, lakini Mungu anahifadhi heshima ya watawa wake.
ਭਾਈ ਮਤ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਕਿਸੀ ਕੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਹਾਥਿ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਇਆ ॥
bhaa-ee mat ko-ee jaanhu kisee kai kichh haath hai sabh karay karaa-i-aa.
O’ brothers, don’t ever think that anything is under the control of anybody. It is God who does everything, and causes everything to be done.
Ee ndugu, hata msifikirie ya kwamba chochote kipo katika udhibiti wa mtu yeyote. Ni Mungu anayejua kila kitu, na anafanya kila kitu kitendeke.
ਜਰਾ ਮਰਾ ਤਾਪੁ ਸਿਰਤਿ ਸਾਪੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਗਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
jaraa maraa taap sirat saap sabh har kai vas hai ko-ee laag na sakai bin har kaa laa-i-aa.
Old age, death, pain, fever, and condemnation are all in the hands of God, and without the Will of God, no harm can come to anybody.
Uzee, kifo, uchungu, homa, na kuangamia yote yapo mikononi mwa Mungu, na bila Mapenzi ya Mungu, hakuna madhara yanaweza kujia yeyote.
ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਨਿਤਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਅੰਤੀ ਅਉਸਰਿ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੩॥੫੧॥
aisaa har naam man chit nit Dhi-aavahu jan naanak jo antee a-osar la-ay chhadaa-i-aa. ||4||7||13||51||
O’ Nanak, with your conscious mind meditate forever on the Name of God, who shall deliver you in the end.
Ee Nanak, kwa akili yako yenye fahamu tafakari milele kuhusu Jina la Mungu, ambaye atakukomboa mwishowe.

Raag Gauree Bairagan, na Guru wa Nne:
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
jis mili-ai man ho-ay anand so satgur kahee-ai.
He, by meeting whom, the mind is filled with bliss is called the True Guru.
Yeye, ambaye kukutana naye, akili inajawa na raha tele anaitwa Guru wa Kweli.
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੧॥
man kee dubiDhaa binas jaa-ay har param pad lahee-ai. ||1||
Double-mindedness departs, and the supreme spiritual status of union with God is attained.
Uwili wa akili unaondoka, na hadhi kuu ya kiroho ya muungano na Mungu inafikiwa.
ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲੈ ॥

How can I meet my Beloved True Guru?
Nawezaje kukutana na Guru wangu Mpendwa wa Kweli?
ਹਉ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਕਰੀ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ha-o khin khin karee namaskaar mayraa gur pooraa ki-o milai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Each and every moment, I humbly bow to the one who can tell me how can I meet my true Guru.
Kila wakati, nasujudu kwa unyenyekevu kwa yule ambaye anaweza kuniambia jinsi naweza kukutana na Guru wangu wa kweli.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
kar kirpaa har mayli-aa mayraa satgur pooraa.
Showing mercy, the one whom God has united with my perfect true Guru,
Akionyesha huruma, yule ambaye Mungu ameunganisha na Guru wangu kamili wa kweli,
ਇਛ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਜਨ ਕੇਰੀਆ ਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਧੂਰਾ ॥੨॥
ichh punnee jan kayree-aa lay satgur Dhooraa. ||2||
all his desires have been fulfilled by obtaining the dust of the Guru’s feet (humbly following the Guru’s teachings),
hamu zake zote zimetimizwa kwa kupata mchanga miguuni pa Guru (kufuata mafundisho ya Guru kwa unyenyekevu),
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਣੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੀਐ ॥
har bhagat darirh-aavai har bhagat sunai tis satgur milee-ai.
We should meet such a True Guru who implants devotional worship of God in the heart, and meeting whom one yearns to listen to God’s praises.
Tunafaa kukutana na Guru wa Kweli kama huyo anayepandikiza ibada ya kujitolea kwa Mungu moyoni, na ambaye kwa kukutana naye mtu anatamani kusikiza sifa za Mungu.
ਤੋਟਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਭੁ ਨਿਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੀਐ ॥੩॥
totaa mool na aavee har laabh nit darirhee-ai. ||3||
Meeting whom one always earns the wealth of God’s Name and never suffers any loss.
Kwa kukutana naye mtu daima anachuma utajiri wa Jina la Mungu na kamwe hapati hasara yoyote.
ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਿਗਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
jis ka-o ridai vigaas hai bhaa-o doojaa naahee.
Such a Guru whose heart is delighted with divine pleasure and who is not in love with any worldly attractions.
Guru kama huyo ambaye moyo wake unafurahia kwa raha takatifu na mabaye hapendezwi na vivutio vya kidunia.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਉਧਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾਹੀ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੪॥੫੨॥
naanak tis gur mil uDhrai har gun gaavaahee. ||4||8||14||52||
O’ Nanak, meeting such a Guru one always sings the praises of God and is saved from the vices.
Ee Nanak, kwa kukutana na Guru kama huyo mtu daima anaimba sifa za Mungu na anakombolewa kutoka maovu.

ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆਲਿ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲੀ ॥
har da-i-aal da-i-aa parabh keenee mayrai man tan mukh har bolee.
The merciful God has shown his mercy, and now throughout my mind and body rings the word of God’s praise.
Mungu mwenye huruma ameonyesha huruma yake, na sasa akilini na mwilini mwangu kote mnatetema neno la sifa ya Mungu.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਭਇਆ ਅਤਿ ਗੂੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਭੀਨੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਚੋਲੀ ॥੧॥
gurmukh rang bha-i-aa at goorhaa har rang bheenee mayree cholee. ||1||
By the Guru’s grace I have been imbued with such a deep love for God, as if myrobe (my whole body) has been fully drenched in the color of this Love.
Kwa neema ya Guru nimejawa na upendo wa kina kwa Mungu, kana kwamba joho langu (mwili wangu mzima) umelowa katika rangi ya Upendo huu.
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਹਉ ਗੋਲੀ ॥
apunay har parabh kee ha-o golee.
I am the maid-servant of my God.
Mimi ni kijakazi wa kike wa Mungu wangu.
ਜਬ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਗੋਲ ਅਮੋਲੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jab ham har saytee man maani-aa kar deeno jagat sabh gol amolee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Since the time my mind has reposed complete faith in God, I feel that He has put the entire world at my service without a price.
Tangu wakati akili yangu imeweka imani kamili kwa Mungu, nahisi ya kwamba ameweka dunia nzima kwa huduma yangu bila gharama yoyote.
ਕਰਹੁ ਬਿਬੇਕੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਭਾਈ ਖੋਜਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਢੰਢੋਲੀ ॥
karahu bibayk sant jan bhaa-ee khoj hirdai daykh dhandholee.
O dear saintly brothers, if you reflect deeply and search your hearts, you will find
Ee ndugu zangu wapendwa watakatifu, iwapo mtafakari kwa kina na mtafute mioyoni mweni, mtapata
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪੁ ਸਭ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੋਲੀ ॥੨॥
har har roop sabh jot sabaa-ee har nikat vasai har kolee. ||2||
that the Beauty and the Light of God is present in all. In all places, God dwells near by, close to everyone.
Ya kwamba Uzuri na Mwanga wa Mungu upo katika yote. Pahali pote, Mungu anadumu karibu sana, karibu na kila mtu.
