ਮਾਨੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਦੋਊ ਸਮਾਨੇ ਮਸਤਕੁ ਡਾਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਗਿਓ ॥
maan abhimaan do-oo samaanay mastak daar gur paagi-o.
Since, I totally accepted the Guru and his teachings, praise or slander mean the same to me.
Tangu, nikubali kikamilifu Guru na mafundisho yake, sifa na uchongezi una maana sawa kwangu.
ਸੰਪਤ ਹਰਖੁ ਨ ਆਪਤ ਦੂਖਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੈ ਲਾਗਿਓ ॥੧॥;l
sampat harakh na aapat dookhaa rang thaakurai laagi-o. ||1||
Since, I have embraced love for my Creator, wealth does not excite me and misfortune does not disturb me either. ||1||
Tangu, nikumbatie upendo kwa Muumba wangu, utajiri haunipendezi na msiba haunisumbui pia.
ਬਾਸ ਬਾਸਰੀ ਏਕੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਗਿਓ ॥
baas baasree aykai su-aamee udi-aan daristaagi-o.
The creator is omnipresent; I behold Him in every household and in the wilderness as well.
Muumba yupo kila mahali; namtazama katika kila nyumba na nyikani pia.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਸੰਤ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਡਾਰਿਓ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਰਬਾਗਿਓ ॥੨॥
nirbha-o bha-ay sant bharam daari-o pooran sarbaagi-o. ||2||
By the grace of the Guru, I got rid of my doubts and I have become fearless. Now, I see the All-knowing God pervading everywhere. ll2ll
Kwa neema ya Guru, niliondoa shaka yangu na nimekuwa bila woga. Sasa, naona Mungu anayejua yote akienea kote.
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਤੈ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਮਨਿ ਬੁਰੋ ਨ ਲਾਗਿਓ ॥
jo kichh kartai kaaran keeno man buro na laagi-o.
My mind is not troubled by whatever the Creator does.
Akili yangu haifadhaishwi na chochote ambacho Muumba anafanya.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਸੋਇਓ ਮਨੁ ਜਾਗਿਓ ॥੩॥
saaDhsangat parsaad santan kai so-i-o man jaagi-o. ||3||
By the Guru’s grace and the company of the saintly persons, my mind has awakened from the slumber of worldly attachments. ||3||
Kwa neema ya Guru na uandamano wa watu watakatifu, akili yangu imeamshwa kutoka usingizi wa viambatisho vya kidunia.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਓੜਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ਪਰਿਓ ਆਇਓ ਸਰਣਾਗਿਓ ॥
jan naanak orh tuhaaree pari-o aa-i-o sarnaagi-o.
Nanak says, “O’ God, I am your devotee and have come to Your refuge seeking your support”.
Nanak anasema, “Ee Mungu, mimi ni mtawa wako na nimekuja kwenye kimbilio chako nikitafuta tegemezo yako”.
ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗ ਸਹਜ ਰਸ ਮਾਣੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗਿਓ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੬੦॥
naam rang sahj ras maanay fir dookh na laagi-o. ||4||2||160||
Imbued with Naam I am enjoying the intuitive peace; no pain or suffering of any kind bothers me anymore. ||4||2||160||
Nikijawa na Naam nafurahia amani angavu; hakuna uchungu au mateso ya aina yoyote inanisumbua tena.

ਪਾਇਆ ਲਾਲੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
paa-i-aa laal ratan man paa-i-aa.
I have attained the precious Naam in my heart.
Nimepata Naam yenye thamani moyoni mwangu.
ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਥੀਆ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tan seetal man seetal thee-aa satgur sabad samaa-i-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Merged in the Guru’s word, my body and mind have become tranquil. ||1||Pause||
Ikiungana na neno la Guru, mwili na akili yangu imekuwa tulivu.
ਲਾਥੀ ਭੂਖ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਸਭ ਲਾਥੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਸਾਰੀ ॥
laathee bhookh tarisan sabh laathee chintaa sagal bisaaree.
Since my yearning for Maya has departed, my anxiety is gone.
Kwani tamaa yangu ya Maya imeondoka, wasiwasi wangu umepotea.
ਕਰੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਧਰਿਓ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਤੋ ਜਗੁ ਸਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
kar mastak gur poorai Dhari-o man jeeto jag saaree. ||1||
Since the Guru has blessed me, I have conquered my mind and it feels like I have conquered the whole world. ||1||
Kwani Guru amenibariki, nimetawala akili yangu na inahisi nikama nimetawala dunia nzima.
ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਇ ਰਹੇ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਡੋਲਨ ਤੇ ਅਬ ਚੂਕੇ ॥
taripat aghaa-ay rahay rid antar dolan tay ab chookay.
Now that I am not tempted by the illusion of Maya any more, I remain steady and do not waver.
Sasa kwamba sivutiwi tena na njozi ya Maya, ninabaki thabiti wala siyumbi yumbi.
ਅਖੁਟੁ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਤੋਟਿ ਨਹੀ ਰੇ ਮੂਕੇ ॥੨॥
akhut khajaanaa satgur dee-aa tot nahee ray mookay.||2||
The true Guru has given me the inexhaustible treasure of Naam and it never runs out. ||2||
Guru wa kweli amenipa hazina isiyoweza kumalizika ya Naam na kamwe haiishi.
ਅਚਰਜੁ ਏਕੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਿ ਐਸੀ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
achraj ayk sunhu ray bhaa-ee gur aisee boojh bujhaa-ee.
O’ Brother, listen to this wonder! the Guru has blessed me with such an understanding,
Ee Ndugu, sikiza ajabu hii! Guru amenibariki kwa uelewa kama huo,
ਲਾਹਿ ਪਰਦਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜਉ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਤਉ ਬਿਸਰੀ ਤਾਤਿ ਪਰਾਈ ॥੩॥
laahi pardaa thaakur ja-o bhayti-o ta-o bisree taat paraa-ee. ||3||
that by removing the veil of illusion I have realized God and all my jealousy with others has vanished. ||3||
kwamba kwa kutoa utaji wa njozi nimemgundua Mungu na uchoyo wangu wote kwa wengine umepotea.
ਕਹਿਓ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਏਹੁ ਅਚੰਭਉ ਸੋ ਜਾਨੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਚਾਖਿਆ ॥
kahi-o na jaa-ee ayhu achambha-o so jaanai jin chaakhi-aa.
This is a wondrous bliss which cannot be described. He alone knows, who has experienced it.
Hii ni raha tele ya ajabu ambayo haiwezi kuelezwa. Yeye pekee anajua, ambaye ameihisi.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚ ਭਏ ਬਿਗਾਸਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਲੈ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੬੧॥
kaho naanak sach bha-ay bigaasaa gur niDhaan ridai lai raakhi-aa. ||4||3||161||
Nanak says, “The Guru has enshrined the treasure of Naam in my heart and I feel enlightened”. ||4||3||161||
Nanak anasema, “Guru amethamini hazina ya Naam moyoni mwangu na nahisi nimeangazwa”.

ਉਬਰਤ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਸਰਣੀ ॥
ubrat raajaa raam kee sarnee.
One can be saved from the effect of Maya only in the refuge of the sovereign God.
Mtu anaweza kuokolewa kutoka athari ya Maya katika kimbilio cha Mungu mwenyezi pekee.
ਸਰਬ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਮੰਡਲ ਗਿਰਿ ਗਿਰਿ ਪਰਤੇ ਧਰਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab lok maa-i-aa kay mandal gir gir partay Dharnee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Being in the grip of Maya, the inhabitants of all the worlds are in a low spiritual state. ||1||Pause||
Kwa kuwa katika mshiko wa Maya, wakaaji wa dunia zote wamo katika hali ya chini ya kiroho. ||1||Sitisha||
ਸਾਸਤ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬੇਦ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖਨ ਇਉ ਕਹਿਆ ॥
saasat simrit bayd beechaaray mahaa purkhan i-o kahi-aa.
The great men have studied the Shastras, the Simritees and the Vedas and they have said,
Wanaume wakuu wamejifunza Shastras, Simritees na Vedas na wamesema,
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ਸੂਖੁ ਨ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਲਹਿਆ ॥੧॥
bin har bhajan naahee nistaaraa sookh na kinhooN lahi-aa. ||1||
that no one can swim across the worldly ocean of Maya and attain peace without meditation on God’s Name. ||1||
kwamba hakuna anayeweza kuogelea akivuka bahari ya kidunia ya Maya na kupata amani bila kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu.
ਤੀਨਿ ਭਵਨ ਕੀ ਲਖਮੀ ਜੋਰੀ ਬੂਝਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਲਹਰੇ ॥
teen bhavan kee lakhmee joree boojhat naahee lahray.
Even if someone acquires the wealth of all the three worlds, the waves of greed do not subside.
Hata iwapo mtu apate utajiri wa dunia zote tatu, mawimbi ya tamaa hayapungui.
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਹਾ ਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਫਿਰਤੋ ਪਹਰੇ ਪਹਰੇ ॥੨॥
bin har bhagat kahaa thit paavai firto pahray pahray. ||2||
Without devotional worship of God, one wanders around endlessly and cannot attain peace of mind. ||2||
Bila ibada ya kujitolea kwa Mungu, mtu anazurura kote bila mwisho na hawezi kupata amani akilini.
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਕਰਤ ਮਨ ਮੋਹਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਤ ਨ ਕਾਮਾ ॥
anik bilaas karat man mohan pooran hot na kaamaa.
Even if a person engages in various fascinating recreations, his lust doesn’t get fulfilled.
Hata iwapo mtu ajishughulishe katika anasa tofauti za kuvutia, ukware wake hautimizwi.
ਜਲਤੋ ਜਲਤੋ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਬੂਝਤ ਸਗਲ ਬ੍ਰਿਥੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੩॥
jalto jalto kabhoo na boojhat sagal barithay bin naamaa. ||3||
One keeps burning in the fire of these desires which never extinguish. Other than meditation on Naam, all efforts are useless. ||3||
Mtu anaendelea kuteketea katika moto wa hamu hizi ambao kamwe hauzimiki. Pasi na kutafakari kuhusu Naam, jitihada zote ni bure.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤਾ ਇਹੈ ਸਾਰ ਸੁਖੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
har kaa naam japahu mayray meetaa ihai saar sukh pooraa.
O’ my friends, meditate on God’s Name, which is the essence of complete bliss.
Ee marafiki wangu, tafakarini kuhusu Jina la Mungu, ambalo ni kiini cha raha tele kamilifu.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਾ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੬੨॥
saaDhsangat janam maran nivaarai naanak jan kee Dhooraa. ||4||4||162||
Nanak submits to the humble service of the devotee who gets rid of the cycle of birth and death in the holy congregation. ||4||4||162||
Nanak anajiwasilisha kwa huduma nyenyekevu ya mtawa anayeondoa mzunguko wa kuzaliwa na kufa katika ushirika takatifu.

mo ka-o ih biDh ko samjhaavai.kartaa ho-ay janaavai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Let someone take the role of the Creator and then convince me with the concept of enduring birth and death due to one’s past deeds. ||1||Pause||
Hebu mtu achukue jukumu la Muumba na anishawishi kwa dhana ya kustahimili kuzaliwa na kufa kutokana na vitendo vya awali vya mtu. ||1||Sitisha||
ਅਨਜਾਨਤ ਕਿਛੁ ਇਨਹਿ ਕਮਾਨੋ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸਾਧਾ ॥
anjaanat kichh ineh kamaano jap tap kachhoo na saaDhaa.
Out of ignorance if a persons does some unjustifiable deeds and does not perform any devotional worship or penance,
Kutokana na ujinga iwapo mtu afanye vitendo visivyo halali na hafanyi ibada ya kujitolea au toba yoyote.
ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਲੈ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਦਉਰਾਇਓ ਕਵਨ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ॥੧॥
dah dis lai ih man da-uraa-i-o kavan karam kar baaDhaa. ||1||
and lets his mind wander in pursuit of Maya, what are the specific deeds by which he is bound in the rounds of birth and death? ||1||
na aache akili yake izurure katika kukimbilia Maya, vipi ndivyo vitendo haswa ambavyo vimemfunga katika mizunguko ya kuzaliwa na kufa?
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਧਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਕਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹਉ ਇਸ ਕਾ ਇਹੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
man tan Dhan bhoom kaa thaakur ha-o is kaa ih mayraa.
Such a person assumes, “I am the master of my mind, body, wealth and land; I believe that I belong to them and they belong to me”.
Mtu kama huyo anadhani, “Mimi ni Bwana wa akili, mwili, utajiri na ardhi yangu; naamini kwamba mimi ni wao na wao ni wangu”.
