ਅਪਨੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
apnee kirpaa jis aap karay-i.
Upon whom God shows His grace.
Kwa yule ambaye Mungu anaonyesha neema yake.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੇਇ ॥੨॥
nanak so sevak gur kee mat lay-ay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, only that devotee seeks the Guru’s teachings. ||2||
Ee Nanak, mtawa wake pekee anatafuta mafundisho ya Guru.
ਬੀਸ ਬਿਸਵੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
bees bisvay gur kaa man maanai.
The one who has convinced the Guru of his total devotion.
Yule ambaye ameshawishi Guru kuhusu ujitoaji wake kamilifu.
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
so sayvak parmaysur kee gat jaanai.
that devotee gets to know the mystical state of the Transcendent God.
Mtawa huyo anapata kujua hali ya kifumbo ya Mungu anayezidi mipaka yote.
ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
so satgur jis ridai har naa-o.
The true Guru is the one, in whose heart is enshrined God’s Name.
Guru wa kweli ni yule, ambaye moyoni mwake mmethaminiwa Jina la Mungu.
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
anik baar gur ka-o bal jaa-o.
I dedicate myself to that Guru many times.
Najiweka wakfu kwa Guru huyo mara nyingi.
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
sarab niDhaan jee-a kaa daataa.
The True Guru is the bestower of all treasures and spiritual life.
Guru wa Kweli ndiye mtawaza wa hazina zote na maisha ya kiroho.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
aath pahar paarbarahm rang raataa.
At all times he remains imbued with the love of God.
Wakati wote yeye anabaki amejawa na upendo wa Mungu.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਹਿ ਜਨੁ ਜਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ॥
barahm meh jan jan meh paarbarahm.
The True Guru is absorbed in the Supreme God and the supreme God dwells in his His devotees.
Guru wa Kweli amevama katika Mungu Mkuu na Mungu mkuu anaishi pamoja na watawa wake.
ਏਕਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਭਰਮੁ ॥
aykeh aap nahee kachh bharam.
There is no doubt that God and the True Guru are one and the same.
Hakuna shaka kwamba Mungu huyo na Guru wa Kweli ni mmoja na sawa.
ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
sahas si-aanap la-i-aa na jaa-ee-ai.
Even by hundreds of clever wits we cannot meet a true Guru.
Hata kwa mamia ya uwekevu mjanja hatuwezi kukutana na Guru wa kweli.
ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
naanak aisaa gur badbhaagee paa-ee-ai. ||3||
O’ Nanak, it is only through good fortune that we meet such a Guru. ||3||
Ee Nanak, ni kupitia bahati nzuri kwamba tunakutana na Guru kama huyo.
ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ॥
safal darsan paykhat puneet.
Blessfull is the union with the True Guru; one gets sanctified upon accepting the Guru’s teachings.
Yenye baraka ni muungano na Guru wa Kweli; mtu anatakasa baada ya kukubali mafundisho ya Guru.
ਪਰਸਤ ਚਰਨ ਗਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
parsat charan gat nirmal reet.
Upon sincerely following the Guru’s teachings, one’s state of mind is elevated and the conduct in the journey of life becomes immaculate.
Baada ya kufuata mafundisho ya Guru kwa unyoofu, hali ya akili ya mtu inainuliwa na tabia katika safari ya maisha inakuwa safi.
ਭੇਟਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਰਵੇ ॥
bhaytat sang raam gun ravay.
Dwelling in the company of Guru, one joins in singing the praises of God,
Kwa kuishi katika uandamano wa Guru, mtu anajiunga katika kuimba sifa za Mungu,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਗਵੇ ॥
paarbarahm kee dargeh gavay.
and reaches the Court of the Supreme God.
Na kufikia Mahakama ya Mungu Mkuu.
ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਚਨ ਕਰਨ ਆਘਾਨੇ ॥
sun kar bachan karan aaghaanay.
Listening to the Guru’s teachings one’s ears are satiated,
Kwa kusikiza mafundisho ya Guru masikio ya mtu yanatoshelezwa,
ਮਨਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਆਤਮ ਪਤੀਆਨੇ ॥
man santokh aatam patee-aanay.
the mind is contented, and the soul is fulfilled.
Akili inatoshelezwa, na roho inatimizwa.
ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਓ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ॥
pooraa gur akh-ya-o jaa kaa mantar.
Perfect is the Guru and eternally true are His teachings.
Kamili ni Guru na kweli na ya milele ni mafundisho yake.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪੇਖੈ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤ ॥
amrit darisat paykhai ho-ay sant.
Upon whom the Guru casts an ambrosial glance, that person becomes a saint.
Kwa yule ambaye Guru anampa mtazamo wa ambrosia, mtu huyo anakuwa mtakatifu.
ਗੁਣ ਬਿਅੰਤ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
gun bi-ant keemat nahee paa-ay.
Infinite are the virtues of the true Guru and no one can estimate his worth.
Fadhila za Guru wa kweli hazina mwisho na hakuna mtu anaweza kukadiria thamani yake.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪॥
naanak jis bhaavai tis la-ay milaa-ay. ||4||
O’ Nanak, God unites that person with the Guru with whom He is pleased.
Ee Nanak, Mungu anaunganisha mtu na Guru ambaye amependezwa naye.
ਜਿਹਬਾ ਏਕ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
jihbaa ayk ustat anayk.
A mortal has only one tongue, but countless are the praises of God,
Binadamu ana ulimi mmoja tu, lakini sifa za Mungu haziwezi kuhesabika.
ਸਤਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਬੇਕ ॥
sat purakh pooran bibayk.
who is eternal, perfect and insightful Being.
Ambaye ni Kiumbe wa milele, kamili na mwenye ufahamu wa kina.
ਕਾਹੂ ਬੋਲ ਨ ਪਹੁਚਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ॥
kaahoo bol na pahuchat paraanee.
Through no words, can a mortal describe the virtues of God,
Bila maneno, binadamu anaweza kueleza fadhila za Mungu,
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੀ ॥
agam agochar parabh nirbaanee.
who is inaccessible, incomprehensible, and free of all desires.
Ambaye hawezi kufikiwa, hawezi kueleweka, na yu huru kutoka hamu zote.
ਨਿਰਾਹਾਰ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
niraahaar nirvair sukh-daa-ee.
He needs no sustenance, is without enmity and is peace giving,
Yeye hahitaji riziki yoyote, hana chuki na ni mpaji wa amani,
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
taa kee keemat kinai na paa-ee.
no one has been able to ascertain the worth of His virtues.
Hakuna mtu ameweza kudhihirisha thamani ya fadhila zake.
ਅਨਿਕ ਭਗਤ ਬੰਦਨ ਨਿਤ ਕਰਹਿ ॥
anik bhagat bandan nit karahi.
Countless devotees daily bow in reverence to Him,
Watawa wasiohesabika wanasujudu kila siku kwa heshima Kwake,
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ॥
charan kamal hirdai simrahi.
and meditate on His Name with love and devotion.
Na kutafakari kuhusu Jina lake kwa upendo na ujitoaji.
ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪਨੇ ॥
sad balihaaree satgur apne.
I dedicate myself to the true Guru forever,
Najiweka wakfu kwa Guru wa kweli milele,
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਪਨੇ ॥੫॥
naanak jis parsaad aisaa parabh japnay. ||5||
O’ Nanak, by whose grace I can lovingly meditate on God’s Name. ||5||
Ee Nanak, kwa neema yake naweza kutafakari kwa upendo kuhusu Jina la Mungu.
ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
ih har ras paavai jan ko-ay.
Only a very rare person enjoys the essence of God’s Name,
Mtu nadra pekee anafurahia kiini cha Jina la Mungu,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਅਮਰੁ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥
amrit peevai amar so ho-ay.
by partaking the Nectar of Naam, he becomes immortal.
Kwa kushiriki Nekta ya Naam, yeye anakuwa asiyekufa milele.
ਉਸੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਦੇ ਬਿਨਾਸ ॥
us purakh kaa naahee kaday binaas.
That person never perishes (does not endure death again and again),
Mtu huyo kamwe haangamii (havumilii kifo tena na tena),
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਗੁਨਤਾਸ ॥
jaa kai man pargatay guntaas.
in whose mind manifests God, the Treasure of virtues.
Ambaye akilini mwake Mungu anadhihirika, Hazina ya fadhila.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇਇ ॥
aath pahar har kaa naam lay-ay.
At all times such a devotee meditates on God’s Name,
Wakati wote mtawa kama huyo anatafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu,
ਸਚੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਦੇਇ ॥
sach updays sayvak ka-o day-ay.
and imparts the same true advice to his disciple as well.
Na kuweka ushauri huo huo wa kweli kwa mwanafunzi wake pia.
ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਲੇਪੁ ॥
moh maa-i-aa kai sang na layp.
He is not attached to Maya (worldly desires),
Yeye haambatishwi kwa Maya (hamu za kidunia).
ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੁ ॥
man meh raakhai har har ayk.
and he always enshrines God in his mind.
Na daima anathamini Mungu akilini mwake.
ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਦੀਪਕ ਪਰਗਾਸੇ ॥
anDhkaar deepak pargaasay.
The one whose darkness of ignorance has been replaced by the light of Naam,
Yule amabye giza yake ya ujinga imebadilishwa na mwanga wa Naam,
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਖ ਤਹ ਤੇ ਨਾਸੇ ॥੬॥
naanak bharam moh dukh tah tay naasay. ||6||
O Nanak, his doubt, emotional attachment and sorrows flee away.
Ee Nanak, shaka yake, kiambatisho cha kihisia na huzuni zinatokomea.
ਤਪਤਿ ਮਾਹਿ ਠਾਢਿ ਵਰਤਾਈ ॥
tapat maahi thaadh vartaa-ee.
Through the Guru’s teachings, peace has prevailed even when living in the heat of vices,
Kupitia mafundisho ya Guru, amani imedumu hata wakati anaishi katika joto la dhambi,
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
anad bha-i-aa dukh naathay bhaa-ee.
and, O’ my brother, a state of bliss has prevailed and all woes have vanished.
Na, Ee ndugu yangu, hali ya raha tele imedumu na matatizo yote yamepotea.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸੇ ॥
janam maran kay mitay andaysay.
The fear of birth and death is dispelled,
Uoga wa kuzaliwa na kufa umeondolewa,
ਸਾਧੂ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਉਪਦੇਸੇ ॥
saaDhoo kay pooran updaysay.
through the perfect teachings of the Guru.
Kupitia mafundisho kamili ya Guru.
ਭਉ ਚੂਕਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋਇ ਬਸੇ ॥
bha-o chookaa nirbha-o ho-ay basay.
All fear is lifted, and now we dwell in fearlessness,
Hofu yote inaondolewa, na sasa tunaishi bila hofu,
ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਖੈ ਨਸੇ ॥
sagal bi-aaDh man tay khai nasay.
and all the maladies are destroyed and dispelled from the mind.
Na magonjwa yote yanaangamizwa na kuondolewa kutoka kwa akili.
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
jis kaa saa tin kirpaa Dhaaree.
The Guru to whom we surrendered has shown mercy;
Guru ambaye tulijisamilisha kwake ameonyesha huruma;
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
saaDhsang jap naam muraaree.
by meditating on God’s Name in the holy congregation,
kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu katika ushirika takatifu,
ਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਚੂਕੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਗਵਨ ॥
thit paa-ee chookay bharam gavan.
we have attained Spiritual stability and our doubts and wanderings have ended.
Tumefikia uthabiti wa Kiroho na shaka na kuzurura kwetu kumekwisha.
ਸੁਨਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ॥੭॥
sun naanak har har jas sarvan.||7||
O’ Nanak, this has happened by listening to God’s praises with our ears.
Ee Nanak, hii imefanyika kwa kusikiliza sifa za Mungu kwa masikio yetu.
ਨਿਰਗੁਨੁ ਆਪਿ ਸਰਗੁਨੁ ਭੀ ਓਹੀ ॥
nirgun aap sargun bhee ohee.
He Himself is intangible (unaffected by Maya); and He Himself is tangible (in the form of His Creation).
Yeye Mwenyewe hawezi kugusika (haathiriwi na Maya); na Yeye Mwenyewe anagusika (katika muundo wa Uumbaji wake).
ਕਲਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਮੋਹੀ ॥
kalaa Dhaar jin saglee mohee.
He has fascinated the entire universe by manifesting His power.
Yeye amevutia ulimwengu mzima kwa kudhihirisha nguvu yake.
ਅਪਨੇ ਚਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਏ ॥
apnay charit parabh aap banaa-ay.
He Himself has created His wonders.
Yeye Mwenyewe ameumba maajabu yake.
ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਏ ॥
apunee keemat aapay paa-ay.
He Himself ascertains His worth.
Yeye Mwenyewe anatambua thamani yake.
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
har bin doojaa naahee ko-ay.
Besides God there is no one else like Him.
Isipokuwa Mungu hakuna mwengine yeyote kama Yeye.
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥
sarab nirantar ayko so-ay.
He is the only One, permeating all.
Yeye ni Mmoja pekee, anayepenyeza vyote.
ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ॥
ot pot ravi-aa roop rang.
Through and through, He pervades in all forms and colors.
Kabisa kabisa, Yeye anaenea katika miundo na rangi zote.
ਭਏ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗ ॥
bha-ay pargaas saaDh kai sang.
This enlightenment is revealed in the company of the Guru.
Kuangazwa huku kunadhihirishwa katika uandamano wa Guru.
