ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਲਾਗਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥
man tan seetal saaNt sahj laagaa parabh kee sayv.
He engaged himself in the devotional worship of God and intuitively he became tranquil and peaceful.
Yeye anajihusisha katika ibada ya kujitolea kwa Mungu na kisilika akawa mtulivu na mwenye amani.
ਟੂਟੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਸਫਲ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਮ ॥
tootay banDhan baho bikaar safal pooran taa kay kaam.
His bonds with vices are broken, and his affairs are settled successfully.
Vifungo vyake vya maovu vinavunjwa, na shughuli zake zinatatuliwa kikamilifu.
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਿਟੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਛੁਟੀ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ॥
durmat mitee ha-umai chhutee simrat har ko naam.
By meditating on God’s Name, his evil intellect is gone and ego is dispelled.
Kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu, akili yake mbaya imeenda na ubinafsi umeondolewa.
ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਆਵਾ ਗਵਨ ॥
saran gahee paarbarahm kee miti-aa aavaa gavan.
His cycle of birth and death has comes to an end by seeking the refuge of God.
Mzunguko wake wa kuzaliwa na kufa unatamatika kwa kutafuta kimbilio cha Mungu.
ਆਪਿ ਤਰਿਆ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਿਉ ਗੁਣ ਗੁਬਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਵਨ ॥
aap tari-aa kutamb si-o gun gubind parabh ravan.
By singing the praises of God he, along with his family, swims across the world ocean of vices.
Kwa kuimba sifa za Mungu yeye, pamoja na familia yake, anaogelea akivuka bahari dunia ya dhambi.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਜਪੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
har kee tahal kamaavnee japee-ai parabh kaa naam.
We should perform self-less service and meditate on God’s Name.
Tunafaa kufanya huduma isiyo na ubinafsi na kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥੧੫॥
gur pooray tay paa-i-aa naanak sukh bisraam.||15||
O’ Nanak, it is only through perfect Guru, that one has realized God, the source of all comforts and peace. ||15||

ਪੂਰਨੁ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪਿ ॥
pooran kabahu na doltaa pooraa kee-aa parabh aap.
The person whom God Himself has blessed with righteous life, never waivers in faith under the pressure of Maya.
Mtu ambaye Mungu Mwenyewe amebariki kwa maisha adilifu, kamwe hayumbi katika imani chini ya shinikizo ya Maya.
ਦਿਨੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਤ ਨ ਘਾਟਿ ॥੧੬॥
din din charhai savaa-i-aa naanak hot na ghaat. ||16||
O’ Nanak, Day by day that person’s spiritual glory multiplies and there is never a decrease in this spiritual glory. ||16||
Ee Nanak, siku baada ya siku utukufu wa kiroho wa mtu huyo unazidishwa na kamwe hakuna upungufu katika utukufu huu wa kiroho.

ਪੂਰਨਮਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕੁ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥
poornamaa pooran parabh ayk karan kaaran samrath.
Poornima (full moon): God alone is Perfect with all the virtues; He is capable of doing and causing things to happen.
Poornima (mwezi mpevu): Mungu pekee ni Kamili ambaye ana fadhila zote; Yeye ana uwezo wa kutenda na kufanya vitu vitendeke.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਹਥੁ ॥
jee-a jant da-i-aal purakh sabh oopar jaa kaa hath.
All pervading God is merciful and protects all living beings.
Mungu anayeenea kote ni mwenye huruma na analinda viumbe vyote vinavyoishi.
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਰ ਕੀਆ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
gun niDhaan gobind gur kee-aa jaa kaa ho-ay.
The great God, through whom everything happens is the treasure of excellence.
Mungu mkuu, ambaye kupitia kwake kila kitu kinatendeka ndiye hazina ya ubora.
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੁਜਾਨੁ ਅਲਖ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਸੋਇ ॥
antarjaamee parabh sujaan alakh niranjan so-ay.
God, the knower of all minds, is wise, incomprehensible and immaculate.
Mungu, mjua wa akili zote, ni mwenye hekima, hawezi kueleweka na ni safi.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੋ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ ॥
paarbarahm parmaysaro sabh biDh jaananhaar.
The Supreme and Transcendent God is the Knower of all ways and means.
Mungu Mkuu anayezidi mipaka yote ndiye Mjua wa njia na mbinu zote.
ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ਸਰਨਿ ਜੋਗੁ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ॥
sant sahaa-ee saran jog aath pahar namaskaar.
He is the supporter of saints, able to give shelter to all, and therefore we should always bow in reverence to Him.
Yeye ndiye msaidizi wa watakatifu, anayeweza kutoa kificho kwa wote, na hivyo basi tunafaa kusujudu daima kwa heshima mbele yake.
ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਨਹ ਬੂਝੀਐ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ॥
akath kathaa nah boojhee-ai simrahu har kay charan.
We cannot understand His indescribable virtues; we should always remember Him with love and devotion.
Sisi hatuwezi kuelewa fadhila zake zisizoelezeka; tunafaa kumkumbuka Yeye daima kwa upendo na ujitoaji.
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਅਨਾਥ ਨਾਥ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਨ ॥੧੬॥
patit uDhaaran anaath naath naanak parabh kee saran. ||16||
O’ Nanak, seek the shelter of that God, who is the savior of sinners and support of the supportless. ||16||
Ee Nanak, tafuta kificho cha Mungu huyo, ambaye ni mwokozi wa watenda dhambi na tegemezo ya wanyonge.

ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਹਸਾ ਗਇਓ ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
dukh binsay sahsaa ga-i-o saran gahee har raa-ay.
The person who has taken the shelter of the supreme God, all his sorrows have vanished and dread has disappeared.
Mtu ambaye amechukua kificho cha Mungu mkuu, huzuni zake zote zimepotea na hofu imepotea.
ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥੧੭॥
man chinday fal paa-i-aa naanak har gun gaa-ay. ||17||
O’ Nanak, all his mind’s desires are fulfilled by singing God’s praises . ||17||

ਕੋਈ ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਸੁਣੈ ਕੋਈ ਕਰੈ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
ko-ee gaavai ko sunai ko-ee karai beechaar.
Whosoever sings, whosoever listens and whosoever contemplates,
Yeyote anayeimba, yeyote anayesikia na yeyote anayetafakari,
ਕੋ ਉਪਦੇਸੈ ਕੋ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
ko updaysai ko darirhai tis kaa ho-ay uDhaar.
whoever preaches others and enshrines within himself the praises of God is saved from the vices.
Yeyote anayehubiria wengine na kuthamini ndani mwake sifa za Mungu anakombolewa kutoka maovu.
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
kilbikh kaatai ho-ay nirmalaa janam janam mal jaa-ay.
That person’s sins are erased, he becomes immaculate and the filth of evil deedsof countless births is washed off.
Dhambi za mtu huyo zinafutwa, yeye anakuwa safi na uchafu wa vitendo vyake viovu vya kuzaliwa upya kusiohesabika unasafishwa.
ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਮੁਖੁ ਊਜਲਾ ਨਹ ਪੋਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਇ ॥
halat palat mukh oojlaa nah pohai tis maa-ay.
Both here and hereafter he is treated with honor because he is not influenced by Maya (worldly riches and power).
Humu na ahera yeye anatendewa kwa heshima kwa sababu hashawishiki na Maya (utajiri na nguvu ya kidunia).
ਸੋ ਸੁਰਤਾ ਸੋ ਬੈਸਨੋ ਸੋ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਨਵੰਤੁ ॥
so surtaa so baisno so gi-aanee Dhanvant.
Only the one who is attuned to God is a true devotee, knowledgeable and spiritually wealthy.
Yule pekee ambaye amemakinikia Mungu ni mtawa wa kweli, mwenye maarifa na tajiri wa kiroho.
ਸੋ ਸੂਰਾ ਕੁਲਵੰਤੁ ਸੋਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਜਿਆ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
so sooraa kulvant so-ay jin bhaji-aa bhagvant.
He who has meditated on God is brave to tackle the vices and is from high lineage.
Yeye ambaye ametafakari kuhusu Mungu ni jasiri kupambana na maovu na anatoka kwa kizazi cha juu.
ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਸੂਦੁ ਬੈਸੁ ਉਧਰੈ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਚੰਡਾਲ ॥
khatree baraahman sood bais uDhrai simar chandaal.
The Kshatriyas, the Brahmins, the Sudras, the Vaishya and antisocials are all saved from the vices by meditating on God’s Name.
Kshatriyas, Brahmin, Sudras, Vaishya na wasioshirikiana na wengine wote wanaokolewa kutoka maovu kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu.
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਰਵਾਲ ॥੧੭॥
jin jaani-o parabh aapnaa naanak tiseh ravaal. ||17||
O’ Nanak, I am a humbel servant of the one who has realized God.||17||

satgur purakh da-i-aal hai jis no samat sabh ko-ay.
The true Guru is compassionate and for him all are alike .
Guru wa kweli ni mkarimu na kwake kila mtu ni sawa.
ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਮਨ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਤੇ ਸਿਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
ayk darisat kar daykh-daa man bhaavnee tay siDh ho-ay.
He considers everyone equal, but success in mortal’s efforts is achieved in accordance with his faith in the Guru.
Yeye anafikiria kila mtu kuwa sawa, lakini kufaulu katika jitihada za binadamu kunafanikishwa kulingana na imani yake katika Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਉਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਦੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
satgur vich amrit hai har utam har pad so-ay.
Within the true Guru’s heart resides the nectar of God’s Name; this is why he (Guru) holds exalted Status like God.
Ndani mwa moyo wa Guru wa kweli mnaishi nekta ya Jina la Mungu; kwa sababu hii yeye (Guru) ana Hadhi iliyoinuliwa zaidi kama Mungu.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
naanak kirpaa tay har Dhi-aa-ee-ai gurmukh paavai ko-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, it is only by the Guru’s grace that one meditates on God’s Name, and it is only a rare Guru’s follower who receives this gift of devotional worship.

ha-umai maa-i-aa sabh bikh hai nit jag totaa sansaar.
Egotism born out of Maya (worldly riches) is all like poison and by chasing it one always suffers a heavy spiritual loss in life.
Ubinafsi unaoasilia kwa Maya (utajiri wa kidunia) ni kama sumu na kwa kuufukuza mtu daima anateseka hasara kubwa ya kiroho maishani.
ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟਿਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
laahaa har Dhan khati-aa gurmukh sabad veechaar.
However, a Guru’s follower has earned the wealth of God’s Name by reflecting on the Guru’s Word.
Hata hivyo, mfuasi wa Guru amechuma utajiri wa Jina la Mungu kwa kutafakari kuhusu Neno la Guru.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
ha-umai mail bikh utrai har amrit har ur Dhaar.
The filth of egotism and Maya is removed by enshrining the nectar of God’s Name within the heart.
