ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
gurmukh man mayray naam samaal.
O’ my mind, keep meditating on God’s Naam by following Guru’s teachings.
Ee akili yangu, endelea kutafakari kuhusu Naam ya Mungu kwa kufuata mafundisho ya Guru.
ਸਦਾ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਚਲੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sadaa nibhai chalai tayrai naal. rahaa-o.
Only this Naam would accompany you, both here and hereafter.||1||Pause||
Naam hii pekee itaambatana na wewe, humu na akhera pia. ||1||Sitisha||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
gurmukh jaat pat sach so-ay.
For a Guru’s follower, meditating on Eternal God’s Naam is the basis of having a high status and respect.
Kwa mfuasi wa Guru, kutafakari kuhusu Naam ya Milele ya Mungu ni msingi wa kuwa na hadhi ya juu na heshima.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਖਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
gurmukh antar sakhaa-ee parabh ho-ay. ||2||
God abides in the heart of that person and He becomes his companion forever. ||2||
Mungu anaishi moyoni mwa mtu huyo na Yeye anakuwa mwendani wake milele.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥
gurmukh jis no aap karay so ho-ay.
Only the person blessed by God can become a Guru’s true follower.
Mtu huyo peke yake aliyebarikiwa na Mungu anaweza kuwa mfuasi wa kweli wa Guru.
ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਤ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har bolat sabh paap leh jaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Meditating on God’s Name, all sins are washed away. ||1||Pause||
Kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu, dhambi zote zinasafishwa. ||1||Sitisha||
ਜਬ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਬ ਮਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
jab gur mili-aa tab man vas aa-i-aa.
When one follows the Guru’s teachings, one’s mind comes under control.
Wakati mtu anafuata mafundisho ya Guru, akili yake inadhibitiwa.
ਧਾਵਤ ਪੰਚ ਰਹੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
Dhaavat panch rahay har Dhi-aa-i-aa.
While meditating on God, one’s five faculties (sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste) stop running after evil impulses,
Wakati anatafakari kuhusu Mungu, vitivo tano vya mtu (kuona, kusikia,kunusa, kugusa na kuonja) vinaacha kukimbilia misukumo mibaya.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਗਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
an-din nagree har gun gaa-i-aa. ||2||
and the soul, the master of the body, always sings God’s praises. ||2||
na roho, bwana wa mwili, daima inaimba sifa za Mungu.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਗ ਧੂਰਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈ ॥
satgur pag Dhoor jinaa mukh laa-ee.
Those who have followed the Guru’s teachings with full faith and reverence,
Wale ambao wamefuata mafundisho ya Guru kwa imani kamilifu na heshima,
ਤਿਨ ਕੂੜ ਤਿਆਗੇ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
tin koorh ti-aagay har liv laa-ee.
have renounced all their falsehoods and attuned themselves to the love of God.
Wamekataa udanganyifu wao wote na kujimakinisha kwa upendo wa Mungu.
ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਭਾਈ ॥੩॥
tay har dargeh mukh oojal bhaa-ee. ||3||
O’ my brother, such persons receive honor at God’s court.||3||
Ee ndugu yangu, watu kama hao wanapokea heshima katika mahakama ya Mungu.
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
gur sayvaa aap har bhaavai.
Serving the Guru by following his teachings is pleasing to God Himself.
Kutumikia Guru kwa kufuata mafundisho yake kunapendeza Mungu mwenyewe.
ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨੁ ਬਲਭਦ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਗ ਲਗਿ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥
krisan balbhadaro gur pag lag Dhi-aavai.
Even Krishna, and Balbhadra meditated on God through their Guru’s teachings.
Hata Krishna, na Balbhadra walitafakari kuhusu Mungu kupitia mafundisho ya Guru wao.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਤਰਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੫॥੪੩॥
naanak gurmukh har aap taraavai. ||4||5||43||
O’ Nanak, it is through the Guru that God Himself helps a person to swim across this worldly ocean of vices. ||4||5||43||
Ee Nanak, ni kupitia Guru ambapo Mungu mwenyewe anasaidia mtu kuogelea akivuka bahari hio ya kidunia ya dhambi.

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਡੰਡਾਧਾਰੀ ॥
har aapay jogee dandaaDhaaree.
God Himself is the Yogi, who wields the staff of authority.
Mungu mwenyewe ni yule Yogi, anayetumia fimbo la mamlaka.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
har aapay rav rahi-aa banvaaree.
God Himself is pervading as the master of this worldly forest.
Mungu mwenyewe anaenea kama bwana wa nyika hii ya kidunia.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਤਪੁ ਤਾਪੈ ਲਾਇ ਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
har aapay tap taapai laa-ay taaree. ||1||
God Himself is practicing intense self-disciplined meditation. ||1||
Mungu mwenyewe anafanya utafakari mkali wenye nidhamu binafsi.
ਐਸਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
aisaa mayraa raam rahi-aa bharpoor.
Such is my God, who is pervading everywhere.
Hivyo ndivyo Mungu wangu alivyo, ambaye anaenea kote.
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nikat vasai naahee har door. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God dwells near all the beings and is not far away from anywhere. ||1||Pause||
Mungu anadumu karibu na viumbe vyote na hayupo mbali na mahali popote. ||1||Sitisha||
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਧੁਨਿ ਆਪੇ ॥
har aapay sabad surat Dhun aapay.
God Himself is the divine word, Himself is the awareness, and Himself tuned to its music
Mungu mwenyewe ni neno takatifu, Mwenyewe ni ufahamu, na Mwenyewe ametuni muziki yake.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਆਪੇ ॥
har aapay vaykhai vigsai aapay.
God Himself watches over His creation and feels delighted beholding it.
Mungu mwenywe anachunga uumbaji wake na anafurahia akiutazama.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਇ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੇ ॥੨॥
har aap japaa-ay aapay har jaapay. ||2||
God Himself meditates on the divine word, and inspires others to meditate. ||2||
Mungu mwenyewe anatafakari kuhusu neno takatifu, na kuhamasisha wengine watafakari.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਧਾਰਾ ॥
har aapay saaring amrit-Dhaara.
God Himself is the pied-cuckoo, Himself the rain of nectar.
Mungu mwenyewe ni mlembe mwenye rangi tofauti, Mwenyewe ni mvua wa nekta.
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਆਪਿ ਪੀਆਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
har amrit aap pee-aavanhaaraa.
God Himself is the ambrosial nectar; He Himself leads us to drink it.
Mungu mwenyewe ni nekta ya ambrosia; Yeye Mwenyewe anatuongoza kuinywa.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
har aap karay aapay nistaaraa. ||3||
God Himself creates the beings and He Himself ferries them across the world ocean of vices. ||3||
Mungu mwenyewe anaumba viumbe na Yeye mwenyewe anawavukisha bahari dunia ya dhambi.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੇੜੀ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਤਾਰਾ ॥
har aapay bayrhee tulhaa taaraa.
God Himself is the boat, the raft and the boatman.
Mungu mwenyewe ni mashua, chelezo na mwendesha mashua.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥
har aapay gurmatee nistaaraa.
God Himself saves us from the vices through the Guru’s teachings.
Mungu mwenyewe anatuokoa kutoka dhambi kupitia mafundisho ya Guru.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਵੈ ਪਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੪੪॥
har aapay naanak paavai paaraa. ||4||6||44||
O Nanak, God Himself carries us across the world ocean of vices. ||4||6||44||
Ee Nanak, Mungu mwenyewe anatubeba na kutuvukisha bahari dunia ya dhambi.

ਸਾਹੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਧਣੀ ਜੈਸੀ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਸਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਤੈਸੀ ਹਮ ਲੇਹਿ ॥
saahu hamaaraa tooN Dhanee jaisee tooN raas deh taisee ham layhi.
O God, You are our Master and we receive only what You give us.
Ee Mungu, Wewe ndiwe Bwana wetu na tunapokea tu kile ambacho unatupa.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਣੰਜਹ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਜੇ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਦੇਹਿ ॥੧॥
har naam vannjah rang si-o jay aap da-i-aal ho-ay deh. ||1||
We would lovingly trade in the wealth of God’s Name, if You become gracious and give us this wealth. ||1||
Tungefanya biashara ya utajiri wa Jina la Mungu kwa upendo, iwapo uwe mwenye huruma na utupe utajiri huu.
ਹਮ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਕੇ ॥
ham vanjaaray raam kay.
We are the traders sent by God.
Sisi ndisi wafanya biashara waliotumwa na Mungu.
ਹਰਿ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਾਵੈ ਦੇ ਰਾਸਿ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har vanaj karaavai day raas ray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ brother, by giving us the capital of Naam, He makes us deal in it. ||1||Pause||
Ee ndugu, kwa kutupa rasilimali ya Naam, Yeye anatufanya tufanye biashara kwake. ||1||Sitisha||
ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
laahaa har bhagat Dhan khati-aa har sachay saah man bhaa-i-aa.
The one who in this life has earned the profit of God’s devotional worship is pleasing to God, the true Master.
Yule ambaye katika maisha haya amechuma faida ya ibada ya kujitolea kwa Mungu anapendeza kwa Mungu, Bwana halisi.
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਖਰੁ ਲਦਿਆ ਜਮੁ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥
har jap har vakhar ladi-aa jam jaagaatee nayrh na aa-i-aa. ||2||
One who by meditating on God’s Name carries the wealth of Naam is not bothered even by the demon of death, ||2||
Yule ambaye kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu anabeba utajiri wa Naam hasumbuliwi hata na pepo wa kifo,
ਹੋਰੁ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਵਾਪਾਰੀਏ ਅਨੰਤ ਤਰੰਗੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
hor vanaj karahi vaapaaree-ay anant tarangee dukh maa-i-aa.
Those traders who trade in other worldly merchandise, are caught up in the endless waves of Maya and endure pain and sorrow.
Hao wafanya biashara wanaochuuza bidhaa nyingine ya kidunia, wananaswa katika mawimbi ya Maya na wanakumbwa na uchungu na huzuni.
ਓਇ ਜੇਹੈ ਵਣਜਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਇਆ ਫਲੁ ਤੇਹਾ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
o-ay jayhai vanaj har laa-i-aa fal tayhaa tin paa-i-aa. ||3||
In whatever business God has enjoined them, they have recieved the reward accordingly. ||3||
Katika biashara yoyote ambayo Mungu amewaamrisha, wamepokea tuzo kulingana nayo.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਣਜੁ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇਈ ॥
har har vanaj so jan karay jis kirpaal ho-ay parabh day-ee.
Only that person deals in the capital of God’ Name, upon whom God becomes merciful and bestows the wealth of Naam.
Mtu huyo pekee anafanya biashara katika rasilimali ya Jina la Mungu, ambaye Mungu anakuwa mwenye huruma kwake na kutawaza utajiri wa Naam.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਲੇਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੭॥੪੫॥
jan naanak saahu har sayvi-aa fir laykhaa mool na lay-ee. ||4||1||7||45||
O’ Nanak, the one who has lovingly performed the devotional worship of God, the true Master never holds him accountable. ||4||1||7||45||
Ee Nanak, yule ambaye amefanya ibada ya kujitolea kwa Mungu kwa upendo, Bwana wa kweli kamwe hamtilii lawama.

ਜਿਉ ਜਨਨੀ ਗਰਭੁ ਪਾਲਤੀ ਸੁਤ ਕੀ ਕਰਿ ਆਸਾ ॥
ji-o jannee garabh paaltee sut kee kar aasaa.
The mother nourishes the fetus in the womb, hoping for a son (healthy child),
Mama analisha kijusi katika chupa cha uzazi, akitarajia mwana (mtoto mwenye afya nzuri)
ਵਡਾ ਹੋਇ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟਿ ਦੇਇ ਕਰਿ ਭੋਗ ਬਿਲਾਸਾ ॥
vadaa ho-ay Dhan khaat day-ay kar bhog bilaasaa.
who will grow and earn and give her money to enjoy worldly pleasuers.
Ambaye atakua na kuchuma na kumpa pesa ya kufurahia raha za kidunia.
ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਦਾ ਦੇ ਆਪਿ ਹਥਾਸਾ ॥੧॥
ti-o har jan pareet har raakh-daa day aap hathaasaa. ||1||
In just the same way the humble servants of God love Him, Who extends His Helping Hand to them. ||1||
Vivyo hivyo watumishi wanyenyekevu wa Mungu wanampenda, anayenyoosha Mkono wake wa Usaidizi kwao.
